Both DH & DS need to do some work while we are at OKW, so we are bringing 3 lap tops. What is the best way to allow 2 or 3 people to be online at the same time? I hear that Apple has a travel device for this but DS is questioning whether this would work at OKW since it didn't work at his school. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
SG

We use an Apple Airport Express without any problem at WDW. We've been doing this for a couple of years now, including at OKW, SSR, BWV, BCV, AKL & VWL.

We have a wireless router in our Owner's Locker and set it up so we can both use our laptops at the same time.

I bought a travel wireless router---about the size of a deck of cards---for just this purpose.

linksys. My model is no longer available, but here's a comparable one:

This one looks a lot more like mine, but from a different vendor:

Edited to add: I bring it with me even when I have just one laptop---it's nice to be able to work on the veranda at OKW when the weather is nice.

Thanks

The linksys one is cool... but sold out... bummer

Slight highjack here! Staying at OKW soon and our guests are laptop people. In the past my guests always had to pay for internet usage. I had read after DVC members got internet free that there were some problems at some resorts. Is OKW all set up for "free" before I get my guests excited?:)

GO HEELS!!!!!!

yes, free internet when staying on points. I just got back from OKW on rented points and had no issues.

:rotfl2: Actually a Duke fan despite the Tarheel Tink but love both teams! Have my special snacks and drinks all ready for the showdown today!
Thanks for the feedback- my friends will be very happy!

Thank you for your help. We bought an Airport Express and DS is installing what is needed on each laptop. I'll let you know how it goes. As we've gotten older, afternoons aren't nap time, but rather DH checking office e-mail, DS(21) reviewing stories submitted online, DS(14) I-chatting with friends & me working out with an exercise TV download. Still a great vacation.

As long as the member is also staying on points, internet is free. If the points are rented or you are staying on cash (or transfer from RCI) then its not.

DH found a scary thread about problems using Airport Express at DVC. But we printed the entire thread, which contained suggestions on how to make it work. Leaving tomorrow. Weather looks good for the week & I'm so psyched for this trip that I've got a "we'll see" attitude towards the Airport Express.:surfweb:

Maybe it is not a bad idea to start a Wireless router swap since I have a Linksys G router sitting here and I had no use for it.
