Multiple dining rez -- a question

Two questions on advanced dining reservations:

1) If it's 6-month advance rez, does that mean I have to call five days in a row to reserve each of my 5-day vaca as each hits the 6-month mark? Or can I make them all when my day-1 hits the 6-month mark?

2) First time with a kid, so unsure which parks will be done each day or how much hopping. Can I make multiple reservations in different parks for the same day? For example, make a lunch rez at both MK and Epcot on day 1 then cancel the one we end up not going to.

Thanks. I prefer to ask in advance (and even be belittled or lectured by some) than to make the mistake in the park.

EDIT FOR 3RD QUESTION: 3) My sister and nephew may or may not come but won't know for several months. Should I book for the five of us then change it to 3 later if she doesn't? Or is it easy to up the number in our party?

If you are staying on property you can book at 180 days out (not 6 months) for a maximum of 10 days from the 180 day mark of your first night.

If you are staying off property, you can book at 180 days but only one day at a time (only onsite guests get the 10 day advantage).

No, you cannot book multiple reservations for the same meal at different places. It's always been a selfish and unfair thing to do but now Disney's dining system won't allow it anyway.

Online, no, not within a couple of hours of each other. You have to call Disney to do this, and they may not let you do it if your reasoning is that you can't decide where you will eat on which day.

Multiple reservations are frowned upon. It makes it very difficult for the rest of us to get the ADR's that we want. If you book multiles then the ADR is not open for anyone else.

You can make all of your dining reservations 6 months from your arrival date. I would try to map out which parks you will be at on which days because if you do the multiple reservations for the same meal and you forget to cancel one or cancel not within a certain time period, you will be unpleasantly surprised to see cancellation charges on your room bill. It's best just to look up when the Extra Magic Hours will be during your stay and plan to be at those parks on those days. Try to make all of your meals in the same park everyday, or at least somewhere that it will be more convenient to travel to from the park you will be in. Good luck!! Ohhhhh btw any dinner shows or Cinderellas Royal Table....do those right away in the morning on the 180th day exactly or you will probably not get in

Wait a minute..........it just dawned on me that people doing this double reservation trick are probably the reason why I typically cvan't get the reservations I want. Shame on you. I got em all this year though....I win. Lol:woohoo:

I'm renting from a DVC owner. The rez is in my name (I guess) so will disney dining be able to look me up and see this and let me book the whole 5 days? I went online to my disney sign-on account and my DVC rez is not showing there, so does that mean I can't do it online for all 5 days at once?

Maybe you should try double booking ;)

You will need the reservation number that the DVC member booked for you. If you plug that in, you can book all 5 days.

Did you look it up by the confirmation number? You will need the confirmation number to pull it up online and to get the +10 advantage (online or over the phone). I'd make your ADRs for 5 and if they can't come you can try to adjust it later.

Most of the questions have been answered...

However, for #3 - I would go ahead and plan for them coming, unless you are planning on pre-paid (CRT or any of the dinner shows) or CC-held (Akershus, CG) reservations, moving from 5 to 3 is a lot easier than moving from 3 to 5. For those exceptions listed above, the same holds true, just that you'll have to let them know ahead of time for any of the changes in party size.

You can't look up a DVC reservation on the Disney site. It is a totally different system, and the DVC system is accessible only to members. To make the ADRS with 180 plus 10 booking, you will need to get the resort confirmation number from the member who booked it for you. There is no way for you to get it on your own, the member would have to give it to you.
