Multiple ADR's

Maybe I've been living under a rock for the last decade. Maybe its something new. I generally go to DW between Christmas and New Years. Its our tradition. I deal with the crowds no problem. Im a planner. I make it work for us. But I learned something new today. I was gauging the ADRs because I was seeing not much online for up to the 23rd because I have to make mine on Jul 1. So I called a CM to ask if there was any issues with the online system and maybe I need to call and make my reservations.

She told me everything is working fine but what she is seeing is people are calling in and making up to 7 or 8 reservations PER A NIGHT!!! They make them then drop them as their plans change. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!!?! No offense to anyone doing this but how is this allowed? People try and plan an evening meal but they cant because some 150 families have all of DW restaurants locked down.

Come on, thats ridiculous on every level. There should be some flag to not allow this. But thats just me and maybe I'm in the minority.

Oh well..

We are struggling to get ADRs for our trip in September. We started booking late but there is next to nothing everyday it's crazy. When I called the woman I spoke with just told me to keep trying cause they will open up. Maybe this is why she was so sure.

Well I don't blame people with the way Disneys has set things up. People don't know the hours of the parks so can't plan where they will be.

This seriously annoys me bc I am a major planner and I plan my days AROUND my ADRS...I hate the people that say well I might want to do this and I might want to do that so lets just book both and then I can decide when its time to book my FPs. I spend hours trying to organize my trips and plan them and then not being able to get certain ADRs bc people are selfish really bugs the hell out of me.

I thought you couldn't make double reservations in the same 2 hr time frame..
As it stands, we do have ADR's for lunch and dinner at every park every day of our 5 day visit. I plan on only keeping 2-3 of those. BUT, at 180 days out, there is NO WAY my plan is solidified yet. Which is why I did lunch and dinner each day. I do have it narrowed down to which park on which day, but as we get closer, say, a week out, I will drop what it looks like we won't use.
I'm a planner too, but not at 180 days... Lol that's just ridiculous to ask people to plan where they will eat and at what time 6 months prior to their trip.
Honestly I wish we could just walk up and get a table service whenever we get hungry, as opposed to having to plan our entire day around where we will be eating at a certain time. And with a toddler, planning that meal is even more difficult. A 2 yr old just doesn't understand "wait 30 more minutes until our reservation honey..." Hell even for our 9 yr olds that's difficult for them to grasp, though easier than the toddler.

I'm a planner as well, but I don't plan around my ADRs. I pick a park, and then if we want a TS that day, then we figure out where and when. If we don't get the ADR, it's no biggie. It's unfortunate that stuff like that happens, but it isn't the end of the world, either. I'm rather indecisive but at the same point it's important to know when plans needs to be firm and to ensure they are, especially at Disney.

We usually have to make multiple ADRs for every meal because it is hard to get a table for 8. But I usually have a hard time making ADRs within a certain timeframe of one another, so I use two different accounts to make reservations for 2 tables of 4. You're saying people can call in and get multiple ADRs within the same timeframe? I want wonder if they can combine ADRs too?

You may not be a planner at 180 days out, but you are preventing someone who wants that reservation that you're going to drop from being able to plan anything. So where you get to leisurely decide which you will keep and which you will drop, someone else has to stalk MDE to see if the reservation they wanted opens up. And just when they've made a plan, you drop that reservation a week out, they grab it, and have to change their entire plan.

They can't do it online they have to be doing it over the phone
this should not be allowed the computer will not allow you to make 2res to close in time

I'm sure it's over the phone with a credit card. Not like you have to have an account.

Ehh, I used touring plans to get my reservations, no stalking necessary. Anyone can do the same thing. You're going about a week or two after us, otherwise I'd say lets chat and I'll give you mine..
But the flip side of that is, I'm not taking any of the most popular ADR's either. I have places like T-Rex(I made 2 ADR's for arrival day, simply because we are driving and I don't know when we will leave home), Boma's (for bkfst, which I KNOW we will keep), Tusker house for lunch (another I KNOW we will keep). The only others we have are H&V (I did lunch and Dinner here because I'm not quite sure yet), Biergarten and Askerhus. And, as soon as I can secure Coral Reef, I will be dropping both of the above, because we are really hoping for Coral Reef, I just booked the others so we could get some food before heading to the boardwalk for the evening... Those 2 will be dropped well before 1 week out.

So it's not like I'm tying up BOG, CP, CM, or some of the other more popular ADR spots, Not at all...

I don't know how they do it, when I try to book another adr it asks me to cancel the other. I can't be bothered creating ghost accounts and juggling everything so we just stick to the one and cancel and eat counter service if needed.

This has been my experience as well. No ghost accounts for me it's not that serious. Lol but
Touring plans and MDE have both told me that I can't have more than 1 reservation for a given timeframe, so I have to cancel one in favor of the other.

I don't know if it still does, but booking an ADR on the Disney App used to allow you to get around the "2 hour" rule. Disney did create this issue by having ADRs booked 180 days in advance and FP+ 60 days (or less) in advance. People spend so much money on Disney Vacation, especially with prices going up, that I think people are just trying to make sure they have the best trip possible. I get that they do it at the expense of others but people are generally more concerned with making sure their family is having the best vacation possible and aren't too concerned with the 1000's of other families there at the sometime.

I make my reservations at 180 that I think I want each day. If something changes and I want a different reservation, I use the ADR finder on Touring Plans and have generally been able to change my ADRs without a problem.

And, as soon as I can secure Coral Reef, I will be dropping both of the above, because we are really hoping for Coral Reef,
I just created 35 phantom MDE profiles and secured all available Coral Reef ressies for the entire month of December because I'm not sure when I will want to eat there. (I don't even really like seafood). Also using Touring plans for any additional canceled that may pop up. I also have an aunt that is a CM in the dining call center, she knows my username and password for MDE and she's also keeping an eye out for any more that pop up. I told her to book everything that pops up using any of my 35 profiles.

OK.....OK.....I'm just kidding.:jester: But this is kind of how your post translates for anyone who is experiencing the frustration of trying to secure EVEN A SINGLE ADR for one of the restaurants you mentioned you would cancel.

Not judging you. Just sayin', you shouldn't expect favorable responses to your post.
