Hello, We have 5 families traveling together. Is it best to have each family have their own MDE account or have one person in charge of it all? I'm not sure whats best with Genie+ and 2 families have Disability Access. Thanks

We are doing a trip with 3 families which includes us (family of 5) in-laws (2) Brother in law (3). We have been to the part multiple times, and none of them have been. We are doing it under 1 MDE account. I guess we will find out if this is the best option but to me it would make it easier to help them out and all stay together as much as possible.

Everyone can have their own account and you can still have one person making the reservations for the whole group if you link the accounts. We usually go with a bunch of families and my sister almost always makes the dining, park, etc. reservations for the whole group. Granted, things have changed since our last trip so that capability may no longer be possible, but it wouldn’t really make much sense to take it away IMO.

FYI, my friend went with a large group in January and you can only make genie+ selections for 12 people at a time.

MDX works a lot better when every guest age 13+ has their own account, not just one account per family and certainly one one account for the entire combined group.

Yeah I currently manage my mom and step-dad, it's obnoxious. I think next time I see her, I'm just stealing her phone and creating her account. Even if she doesn't touch it.

Also, just thinking about mobile ordering food, I would think each family would definitely want their own account for that.

will be my first time with all these digital tech at WDW. why is it easier for each family have their own MDE account?
So everyone can see the plans from their own device, everyone can place a mobile order, everyone's account and travel history stays up to date, everyone is able to unlock the hotel room with their phone if they misplace a MagicBand or room keys, everyone sees shared PhotoPass photos, people can split off into smaller groups if there's disagreement about what to do next, etc. Plus it's just generally less buggy and glitchy.

Won’t this be the same if everyone just have MDE on their phone but log in with my credentials ?
No, that's the buggiest of all options. There's a reason Disney set it up so that only children under 13 needed to be "managed" by someone else.

That's the worst option.

A) The MDE log on is your disney log on. That means they can access your disney+, DCL or any other Disney account you have.

B) Someone could accidentally cancel a dining reservation that you're the lead on because they want to go somewhere else.

C) if all those people are managed by you, your next trip, you will get very annoyed having a ton of people on your list.

I've heard too that if one person is going for a $ILL while someone else is booking a Genie+ at the same time, that it will glitch a lot if you are using the same account. Also, just for mobile ordering and looking at menus and picking up food, it would be so much easier for each group to have their own account. It isn't hard to create one and then become friends on there.

so let say there is 3 MDE accounts and all guests are on 3 accounts (let's take party of 12, max someone mentioned),
with separate MDE account, MDE users, have a choice of making reservation for Rides/Dining/Mobile-food-order of either
(1) for all 12 guests
AND (2) or for just their own 4 guests?

is that the only reason? have a choice of booking for all 12, or just for 4?
other than, yeah, if each MDE has their own credit card linked.

Let's take my account as an example.

I have 2 kids under 6, so I manage them both. My husband has his own account. I have connected to my husband as "friends and family" and we share all plans. He has added the kids as his "friends and family". I can make plans for my husband and he can make plans for me and the kids.

For the moment I am also managing my mom's account (ugh)....so basically, right now, she cannot do anything on her own. I have to plan it for her and also be going with her. At this point in time, she probably wouldn't go to WDW on a trip where I'm not going, so it's not the end of the world...but if she decided to go with my sister at some point, it would be an annoyance for me. (And I'm not giving her my log on....ever....that's my entire Disney life)
