Following a really good night's sleep (
and a precautionary dose of Imodium) everyone is ready to go. Thunderstorms forecast for the afternoon so we decide Disney MGM studios will be best as there are lots of indoor things to do.
(actually, although overcast the weather remained dry and bright for the whole day - Florida weather forecasting is even less accurate than UK meteorologists
)
Although there seemed to be plenty of people about we managed to do everything with only a minimal wait. Started with the Indiana Jones stunt show (much enjoyed by the boys) then straight in to Beauty and the Beast (which included an amusing singing foursome as a pre-show). Excellent singing and costumes - younger DS complained it was too short (had great difficulty getting him to understand/accept why shows were only 1/2 hour or less when his DVDs run to three times that!). Came out and got FP for Tower of Terror (DH and elder DS only - didn't feel up to a child swap just yet
) then as it was getting towards 12.00 and we hadn't had much breakfast decided to splash out on lunch at the Hollywood Brown Derby. Strip steak with three sauces and mashed potato beautifully presented and probably the best steak I've ever tasted (including some in Brazil). We only managed to squeeze in one course each, but I would love to go back when I'm up for the full monty.
While the brave ones went on ToT Christian and I collected fastpasses for the Little Mermaid - very good, technique reminiscent of Animagique in DLP. The the Backlot Tour was only OK (similar to Paris, and not really to be compared to a real backlot tour like Universal Studios California, but the introductory look at battle effects was good) but the Great Movie Ride was really different - be prepared to explain the old movie references to younger members of the party. Muppet Vision 3D was unbelievable - to anyone who remembers red and green lenses in cardboard glasses which never seemed to make much diffference! The 3D glasses fitted comfortably over my normal specs (a pleasant surprise - I'd expected to have to hold them) and the effects were amazing. Try to spare a glance around to watch a whole auditorium duck in unison! Straight from that to Playhouse Disney - Christian loved Bear in the Big Blue House and Winnie the Pooh. As it was nearly 6 o'clock we decided to go as we were due back for Fantasmic the next day. Light dinner at Pepper Market until Christian started to fall asleep in his chips, so back to the room for bed.
Next morning light rain was forecast - it poured down all day! We spent the morning shopping (I managed to get a nice little umbrella in Walmart for about $6 - and did I get use out of it!!
) then back to the hotel to drop our purchases andhead off for Fantasmic. Unfortunately Christian was sick twice on the way from the car to the room, then again when we got to the bus stop
so I took him back to the room and Andy and Josef went off to the PS and to meet my sister and her family. More thunder and lightning followed their departure, but passed before Fantasmic started. Andy was forced to buy a Mickey poncho (despite his opposition to them) as the rain lashed down on the grandstand. They reported that the H&V buffet was OK (but nothing special for the money). I had to wait until they got back to get any dinner (refused to effectively pay $20 for a $10 pizza - 18% service charge on top of $2.50 delivery and 6% tax! - although I did finish the beers and Pringles we had left
) by which time I couldn't be bothered to battle with Pepper Market so bought a sandwich from Tiendas. Bed soon after.
