Mulan

Anyone else feel that the movie "Mulan" got its due from the public as a whole? I know that many critics liked it and it has become almost a cult movie for Disney folks. My whole family loves this movie and can't believe how many folks have never seen it and some that never heard of it.

What do you think?

My whole family loves this movie. When it first came out in 98 we watched it all the way from pittsburgh to orlando, of course since i was driving i only got to listen. But ever since then my daughter regularly pulls it out to watch. I also like the music, probably from listening to it ten times before i ever got to watch it.

Personally, I did not think I would like Mulan. When I first saw the trailer for it I thought, what is Disney thinking with this one? The previews made it look very serious and just not what you would expect from a Disney movie. I never did go to the movies and see it. I never saw it until around 2 years later when a friend told me how good it was. I took her word for it, watched it and LOVED it. I don't think the movie was marketed well at all. It was so full of humor which was not conveyed in any of the trailers or commercials I saw for it. I know a lot of people who haven't seen it and I always make sure to tell them that it's great!

My 4 year old son LOVES Mulan!! He has watched the movie dozens and dozens of times LOL. When we saw her at the PSB last year, it was the highlight of his trip

I agree, it seems a lot of people never saw this one. We saw it in the theater and fell in love!!! I think it's a fanastic movie, with a great message. It makes me choke up like an idiot when I watch it too. Eddie Murphy is hysterical too!!!

I think your right, we have the movie and I've never seen it. I just told DD that were going to have to watch it.

Mulan is the Disney heroine I most identify with. I think it was terribly undermarketed. I amkicking myself for not buying it on DVD when it was out.

To those who haven't seen it, see it. You won't be sorry.

I watched Mulan today with my DD and I liked it alot more then I expected. Funny it's been sitting in our video cabinet for God knows how long and we never watched it. I'm glad I listened to you all.

We also Love Mulan. Especially the Music--It is one of our preferred road trip CDs.

We always crank up "I'll Make A Man Out of You" and sing it at the top of our lungs!

Yes, the music was wonderful. I liked the ending. I'm a sucker for a happy ending.

I think it would be worthwhile for Disney to re-release in theatres. I'd love to see it in the theatre.

The artwork in Mulan is truly stunning. I love the style, but the story was somewhat lacking in something. I left the theatre feeling like something was missing and I couldn't put my finger on it.

Its one of my favorites as well. I like the fact that this is based on a "true" story... I found the book and while it was different than the Disney movie.. it was still very interesting.

I love Donny Osmonds voice on I'll make a Man out of you... but again who wasn't a Donny fan in the 70's? (I'll admit I was a tenny bopper than as well)

I, too, wasn't looking forward to this movie because of the previews. It looked so dark. Then I took DD when it was released and loved it.
I really liked Shang. He seemed much more three dimensional than the usual Disney "prince".

This is my FAVORITE Disney movie! I'm not really into the whole Princess thing, so I think that's why I like Mulan so much. The movie does have some VERY funny lines. I could watch this movie every day for the rest of my life.

The only thing that bothers me is that I can hardly ever find anything to buy of Mulan.

We love Mulan!! When my DH and I took our DS to the movies to see this movie, I even remember DH telling people how good it was. Now our DD (2) watches her Mulan DVD all the time!
