Flat Stanley is a fun series of books about a kid who gets flattened and has adventures. Here in CT it has become a great teaching tool .

My kids used Flat Stanley in school 1&2 grade. They read the books and then made a Flat Stanley. They then send Flat Stanley on a vacation to someone they know in another state. They ask the people that they send Stanley to to take him to ball games, parks, movies, etc and have thier photo taken with Stanley. The kids get to learn about other states and things people do in those states. We loved it. Our Flat Stanley was sent to FL and YES went to DISNEY, (his hight and size did have some drawbacks... too thin for the roller coasters.)

It is such a fun way to learn and the whole object is to photo everything.

This might be another one the kids enjoy and then you could ask them about each photo and find out what went on for the 5 weeks. Might be a great help when they get home to help with relearning the rules.... "You need to do xyz so you could tell me about this photo tonight."

You could have lots of fun with this even after they are home.

The kids Flipbook hasn't arrived yet and we are leaving for Indianapolis in the morning- we can swing by Friday afternoon on the way to the 1/2 way point- I just hope its here!

I hope you had a fabulous time in Indy! Prayers that that everything went as well as can be expected and that the time flies for you.

I just found you!!!!
I'm hoping all went well....
Keep us posted.

Mulan - and :wizard: that your drop off went well and the kids come home safe and sound and early :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I hope that rat DAMM is so worn out from having them for a long period of time that he sends them home very early and NEVER wants a long visitation again.

I will send good thoughts to you and your children often.

SURPRISE....
DAMM NEVER SHOWED UP TONIGHT:rotfl2: :rotfl2: We waited till 7pm, only because the officer got busy with another person. I had him write out date and time, name and badge #, that I was there for 1 hour waiting and that he never called or showed.;)
Last night ex SIL called and attempted to pretend to be his lawyer:rotfl2: and said the 5 weeks are not doable for "her" client. She said that we will be going back to the same schedule as we did last summer. I explained, we will go by the court orders and that we will go back to every other weekend until the lawyers work this out or we go back to court. She said, "Maybe I am his lawyer" I said nice try 'exSIL', tell DAMM he needs to make a decision and we'll see him tomorrow night.

What burns me though, 1. we had to leave the Childrens Museum early to get to the drop off point by 6pm, we fought traffic and used ALOT of GAS, DD was devastated and began acting out, I have to work this weekend and now will have to come up with extra babysitter $...but I have my cherubs:cool1:

We went and saw KUNG FU PANDA tonight- AWESOME!
Best line in the movie: " Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a Mystery and today is a Gift- thats why they call it the present"

So many great teachable moments! Sleep tight y'all- I know I will. Tomorrow is my birthday and boy it'll be sweet since I have my little ones- we're gonna have a Mulan cake LOL
Mulan and her cherubs:dance3: :dance3:

Wow, that is great news.

But... make sure you call your lawyer in :( county ASAP and make sure she knows what happened so that when DAMM complains that you didn't adhere to the agreement you are ready.

You also need advice on how to handle this. What is going to happen this summer? Is he expecting the kids next week? It sound to me like everything is up in the air now. Do you want to go back to the schedule you had last year? Or maybe your lawyer thinks this is an opportunity to change the visitation schedule in the custody agreement? You need some legal advice.

I agree - you should call your lawyer right away for legal advice on this one.

I can't imagine letting down my kids by not even showing up to pick them up...knowing they would be waiting there with their little bags packed. It makes me cry just thinking of it. Of course, I realize they are better off not having to see the jerk...but still...what a lousy thing to do to a kid. :(

I'm glad you will get to spend your birthday with the kiddos! I hope you have a great time! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :cool1:

We're going to see Kung Fu Panda tomorrow. The kids are very excited.

Fantastic news Mulan , but proceed with caution , please get advice ASAP,

and party: :bday: party: to you,

i agree on getting legal advise asap. it would seem that if he does'nt want to do the 5 weeks then the court may interpret that as his simply waiving that entire period of time with no provision for reversion to the every other weekend schedual. the other issue you might want to explore with your lawyer is how his failure to do the five weeks may impact the manner in which his child support is structured. most c/s orders take into consideration the amount of time the non custodial parent has the child and their anticipatory expenses-not taking them those 5 weeks AND having you incur expenses not planned for (childcare comes to mind) could increase his obligation. also-some c/s orders call for a financial penalty if one parent transports the children to the designated meeting place and the other fails to show without notice (often used as a deterant to a parent not wanting to actualy see their kids:( but knowing that the travel creates expense for the ex as well as their having to deal with the emotional melt downs).

I like how Barkley thinks... ::yes::

Wow, we all didn't think he'd make it two weeks. He didn't make it at all.

If his sil or whomever tries to call again, say nothing - just tell them you were instructed by your attorney to refer all calls to her.

Just as we told you you had a court order that had to be followed - so did he.

He can't pick and choose what he wants. He violated that court order.

Enjoy your birthday! :goodvibes

Happy Birthday!

DAMM is a putz but we all knew that.

I wouldn't be offering the kids for ANY visitation with DAMM that doesn't follow the court order. Period.

Talk to your ATTY on Monday AM and see what they say.

Wow Mulan, we should of taken bets on how long DAMM would of lasted I would of lost right away I figured he would of at least lasted a week. Hurray for you. Like the posters above said just be cautious. And talk to your attorney.

And I hope you have a wonderful birthday!!!

Mulan

you know what I dont think he had any intention of having your cherubs for 5 weeks straight, I think he was just waiting to see if you would crack first because he knew you couldnt stand being away from them for that long, again i think he is playing mind games and has totally underestimated your strength, and when he realised that you werent going to cave in he has had no choice but to admit defeat,

You can win this though but you have to be cautious, dont speak to him at all , refer all phone calls through your lawyer and take her advice, this just might be the big bolt of lightning that we have all wished for, what would Judge TIGHT BREEKS say? i think DAMM has just about put the finishing nails in his coffin..................................................

stay strong and stay cautious... let us know the latest soon.......................
