Mugs no flames please just report what i was told.

I dont know if anyone else has reported this yet but just got back from port orleans today and was told that the mugs were good at all disney resorts but not parks. I knew from reading on here for the past 4 years that wasnt right so i went to not one but 4 different resort to just ask the cashiers if i bought a mug where it was good at and they All said that they were good at All resort not just the one you are staying at.I didnt even ask the first cashier she was the one who told me and I didnt know what to believe. We were going to the other resorts to eat anyway so I thought I would ask. I didnt have my mug at the time. Just reporting what i was told. Maybe it is going to be the new policy?I thought people would be interested to know this.

I don't know what to tell you because, when we bought our mugs at POR three weeks ago, we were told they were only good at POR. However, when we checked out two weeks ago, I heard a different CM telling the person in front of me that they were good at all the resorts. I think this is a case of the CMs not knowing what Disney's policy truly is.

I will say that both CMs did say for the length of the stay so that much is true that the mugs are only intended to be used for your current visit.

I apologize if this has been mentioned but I just started trip planning and haven't been reading these boards. I'm going to try to book a split stay at BLT/AKV spring break. If the new system is implemented does it mean once we leave our first resort my mug won't work at the second one? I need my iced tea in the morning, LOL.

Well that would be sort of ridiculous...never thought about that!

I want to know WHY you are wasting your vacation time on such a non issue?

Apparently if the mug chipping system goes into effect resort-wide, no matter what you were told in the past your old mugs will not be usable.

The machines will probably have a CM override, don't you think? That or they could just show the "good forever" mug and Disney could either give them a chip for the stay or give them a new mug for the stay. The mugs themselves aren't that expensive.

Truly, I don't think that they really care about the whole 'mug thing' anyway.
I agree. Recently this is what happened to us. We were at the Pop Century Resort. I had a new mug (red?), an older mug (blue?), a newer POP mug, and even an OLD "GRAND OPENING" Pop mug. 4 of us so 4 mugs. I had all 4 mugs in my hand and was filling them when a CM looks at my mugs, then looks at her CM manager (I saw the tag) and says "Are those mugs allowed"? I went about my business as if nothing was said and as if I didn't hear. The manager said "All of those are fine".
There it is from the horses mouth.

Consider this too... Chuck-E-Cheese has used lifetime mugs for years. I had a friend (also a Disneyaholic) who was a manager and he said "They keep people coming back. Good for business." He would give us the newer versions every time we went there, but he said (because I asked him once) that they really don't care.
We still take our fireman CEC mugs!!! They are like 15 years old and the employees do a double take:rotfl2:

Our stay was at VWL. Bought our 3 mugs upon arrival. We were told by the CM at purchase that they were usable at any resort. So, we put them in our park bag everyday. It seemed we always made a resort-hopping stop before returning to VWL. We always asked first, but were told that it was fine to refill. On the Boardwalk they were especially nice!

Will continue to purchase new mugs on each trip, but won't hesitate to use at another resort unless we are told differently. Of course, we will ask first. :)

Maybe the new cups with chips will be needed to have the dispensers work, but if you have a forever mug without a chip, chipless mugs will work as well. That would be a way so no one would have to be there or do something to the older forever mugs. The mugs with chips just would not work after the stay is over. A mug that doesn't transmit will just work anytime. Just a thought
