Has anyone taken mucinex d? Does it make you drowsy or does it keep you awake. I was going to give it to my DD16 who has a cough and congestion but I dont want to have her up all night.

Dh took it last week for his cold and it made him a little groggy. It worked wonders on his cough and congestion though.
Hope she's feeling better soon!

I don't think so. My husband takes it when hes having congestion/coughs to help though the night. But hes a very good sleeper. Anything that is "non-drowsy" has something in there to keep you up.

It didn't make me drowsy or keyed up. Mucinex D uses phenylephrine which does not have the same effects as pseudophedrine which is the ingredient in most cold medicines that either puts you to sleep or keys you up. I find that phenylephrine does not make me feel like a space cadet. I'm glad they finally found a substitute for pseudophedrine. :thumbsup2

Just be sure she drinks a full glass of water with it. It says it on the box, and it does help loosen up the mucus. Hope she feels better soon!

I believe you are talking about Musinex DM. My box of Musinex D has pseudoephedrine in it (60mg).

I take it during the day with no side effects. Like the PP said, drink LOTS of fluids with it and it will help a ton.

Oops! Thanks for clarifying my mistake.
