My new year is off to a rocky start. I was laid off this morning from my job of nearly 3 years. 2 of my coworkers have wanted me gone for whatever reason for quite some time now. I've never been unemployed or needed to file for Unemployment benefits before. This is quite a blow to me and I did not see it coming.

I am also approaching the 1 yr anniversary of my nieces suicide. I was the one to find her and she was like the daughter I'll never have.

I am spinning and would GREATLY appreciate any prayers you all could spare.

Hey Mickeyflower, keep your chin up and don't get down. Take this opportunity to do a few things you've wanted to and then look for a new opportunity.

Prayers and pixie dust headed your way. It is amazing these days how many have been unemployed. Hopefully a new opportunity comes along soon for you.

So you feel like you are spinning on the Teacups ride?

Hold on tight to someone who can give you a hug and make you stay still.

Don't be afraid to apply for the unemployment benefits. Take a breath! Accept that you are still a good person. Realize you have an identity other than your job. Be alert and on the lookout for new opportunities. Stay open to surprises!

I am sorry about your niece.

Wishing you all the best in 2010!:flower3:

I don't normally post anything on the boards and this is the first. However, when I read postings such as yours I do however feel compelled to respond.

Mostly everyone who has worked has experienced some time away from work . . . for many different reasons, albeit unique for each individual.

Keep yourself networked with the right people through volunteerism, joining clubs, visiting friends and take this time to reflect on whats is really important personally and professionally in your life.

This too shall pass . . . best wishes!

I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers! Sending you goodvibes!:goodvibes. Keep positive!

I am so sorry this year is starting out so difficult for you.

Remember as others have said, you are not alone in getting laid off, apply for unemployment and use this as an opportunity to pursue your dreams.

Anniversary of suicides are hard {{hugs}}. My suggestion is to do something to remember your niece by - volunteer, do an activity she loved, do something you love. It helps to plan activities and keep yourself busy.

I will be thinking of you.

God Bless You, Mickeyflower. And may He give you the strength to get thru this. Please rest assured that you have alot of us here (and elsewhere, I'm sure) sending you prayers, good wishes, and Pixie Dust!

I lost my job in July and I do know some of what you're feeling. I'd been there 11 years and really didn't believe that such a thing could happen to me. File for unemployment, take a deep breath..and move on. It will get better. I got a job in September-nothing great but it's paying the bills.

I also have a niece that is the closest thing I'll ever have to a child, and I can't imagine the pain I'd feel if I lost her.

My prayers are with you....

I will pray for you. I am so sorry that you were laid off. Hang in there.
Peace,
Carla Rae

Thank you so much everyone for your kind words and positive thoughts. I have completed the first step to collecting Unemployment Insurance.

Its so nice to feel the support from you all. THANK you from the bottom of my heart.

I will be lifting you in prayer this morning Mickeyflower. Please take good care of yourself in this tough time.

Mickeyflower, I'm sorry about your job but I know from personal experience that sometimes these things turn out to be the best thing that could have happened. Just think, by this Christmas you could be thinking "What was I ever worried about...if I didn't get let go from that place THIS would never have happened and I love that it did!

I'm so sorry about your neice. Deaths are tough enough but the added hurt of a suicide is so difficult for those left behind. Don't stop talking about it and her though...it will help.
