Keenercam,

I had not even thought about having to have luggage by the door the night before. And I agree, damp clothes would not be fun!

June

I made a countdown banner, I am hoping it posts

in my excitement. We are grandparents and are joining our daughter, her husband and our granddaughter, Gwendolyn. She will be 5 when we set sail. I hope she finds other little girls her age to play with. She loves making new friends. :wizard:

welcome june & jen!

hey june -- your family on board sound a lot like mine -- in my case, i'm the daughter -- :thumbsup2

we'll be traveling with my mom and dad (both 70), my husband and our daughter who turns 6 two weeks before the cruise.

fun!!!!

a playdate/meeting in the making! Gwen will turn 5 this spring.

We are planning on this cruise, but we are a bit worried that our son-in-law may get deployed and we may have to reschedule. My daughter is not sure she wants to go without him and we understand that. And he really wants to go! We have our fingers crossed that everything works out.

If not, we may end up at Disneyland Paris (again) with Gwen. Since they are stationed in Germany, it is a much shorter/easier trip to get her there than to Florida or CA. We were so worried the 1st time we took her. How would we explain why Cinderella or Snow White no longer spoke English? No worries, all the princesses spoke perfect English, and most of them spoke several languages.

My daughter and husband are in their late 20s and we are about 20 years older than them ;)

Thanks for the welcome and I look forward to meeting you and all the people on the board :)

June -- fingers crossed your son in law won't get deployed... when will you know?

It's nice to know about Disney in Paris... maybe one day we'll check it out!

Hi Everyone,

Just checking in. I haven't been on for awhile. Did you see the big price increase since yesterday? :scared1: I sure am glad that we booked the cruise already.

holy smokes! our 2 rooms (11B) totaled nearly $800 more than what we paid.

i wonder what happens if the cruise gets less expensive? can we rebook and get the discount?

Yes, you can rebook if the price goes lower. Keenercam will know more about this. She rebooked earlier and saved quite a bit of $.

HI everybody! I am bummed about the price increase - I have been thinking I wanted to upgrade to a room with a verandah (right now we are at an inside room with no window - and I am starting to think I am not going to like it.
My husband says he doesnt care and he doesnt plan to be in the room that much). We have to mess around with Disney Vacation Points - so I am not sure how that will effect everything. Anybody have any thoughts or opinions?

Dorothy, we booked lowest cabin yet. 9A I think. We do have the window, but this princess loves the cross-breeze of the verandah. So, I am a little anxious about it, but we thought we'd gamble it. This will be our sixth cruise, so I am hoping gold cc may help the upgrade dept?

We cruised the Baltic this past summer and that was a longer cruise. This will be a VERY busy itinerary so he is right...not much downtime. You will just have to make it a point to get up on deck.

The reason I want the window and won't risk it, one time we went to a DVC mtg in a cabin with no windows and I got nauseous. Otherwise the boat NEVER bothers me. The seas were rough then too. I really want to try it and save the $.

I will say that I really romanticized the ports. I thought it would be so scenic to park the boat. Not so much. In fact some of the ports were quite industrial feeling and not beautiful scenery. So that helps ....not to be missing much. Sunset is so much later in northern Europe. I am hoping the evenings will be the same in the med. It is very pretty to be pulling away and take a stroll
after dinner.

Try and get to the port very early to see if you can get an upgrade.

Thanks for your input Jendisney9! They way you put the 'cross breeze' really sounds...'Magical' (he he). You just helped push my vote over....

I think I am going to go ahead and do it. I called DVC yesterday, and they don't raise the prices for DVC. They have a contracted price they stick with, so the quote I got originally stays the same.
Plus - I have an alterior motive. My husband snores - he has gained weight over the last 5 years and I just can't sleep he is so loud(earplugs and all). So, I told him if he doesnt loose the weight - I am gonna kick him outside on the veranduh if he startes to snore!:cloud9:

I am sooo grateful that our travel agent/friend told me to "reshop" the cruise a while ago. We saved well over $2000 on our 2 cabins. If we had waited until last week, there would not have been any savings. That $2000 will certainly help with airfare.

Dorothy, my understanding is that if the price goes down any time before you pay the final balance, you can ask DCL to "re-shop" your cabins and get the cost savings that way. Don't ask them to re-price or "re-quote" if you have the on-board booking discount or the on-board credit, because I think those may not carry over to a "new" booking or a "new" quote.

thanks for the tip Keenercam!

we have 11B inside staterooms on deck 6.... would love to switch for a verandah room but i'm not gonna sweat it either way. but a little patio would be nice!!!

xo

Wow! Just checked the price of our cruise - its almost $1100 more now:scared1: Glad we booked early or we wouldn't be going~

I just cannot believe how fortunate we are. I am definitely transferring my reservation to my favorite TA so that she gets the commission since she is responsible for us saving so much money. I  her!!!

See - I cant get a lower or higher price because I booked my Cruise through Disney Vacation Club. They work off of points.....If prices go up or down - it doesnt matter. Its kind of like a timeshare - I am not paying a chunk of money. We pay for the 'timeshare' all year round until its paid off in a year or 2...then we have it for the next 40+ years without paying anything but association fees!

I booked our airfare yesterday. Whew! One more thing to mark off my list :rotfl:!

We decided to fly out on Saturday to give DD (Kiley) alittle more time to adjust to the time change. Flying on American Airlines from St. Louis to JFK then on to Barcelona. We're flying back to the States on the 8th. I know my family - they will be ready to get home!

Hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween! :hmghost:

I'm holding my breath, waiting for DCLShel to respond about her flight out of BCN!!! Please tell me it's booked for 7/9!!

Sorry for the panic! All is good - booked on 9th.
