MSP Flyers take heart--great summer airfare!

I had been whining a couple weeks back about the lack of decent summer airfares from MSP to MCO. After reaching a high of $257, they dropped to $221 yesterday. I checked today on expedia and couldn't believe it--$177 RT on Continental!

I then proceeded directly to the Continental Web site and booked the July 21 flight for $168 RT! That's the best rate I've seen out of MSP in ages! We have to connect in Cleveland, but who cares? That's a huge savings for our family of 5.

So now after telling the kids we won't be doing Disney this year, we get to tell them that the "Drive (actually fly) for five is alive!"

Congrats on snagging that good deal!

Found some $168 RT deals on COntinental for our early December trip, but I don't really like the flight times, so I'm going to wait a bit - maybe Delta (or NWA, HA!) will match or come down some, too.

Keep in mind that the St Paul Winter Carnival button has an advertisement in it where you buy 2 tickets on Sun Country and get the 3rd free!

You would need to get the code from someone who has the button or buy the button.

Prices are around 250 per ticket now, but if every 3rd ticket was free, that would bring down the total cost.

Purchases must be made by March 1 with the code.

Also note the Continental and NWA are partners and some of the flights you are quoted on continental might actually be on NWA planes! I noticed this when looking at these prices. There were many flights listed as Continenatal, but they were serviced by NWA!

I just priced flights for around the time I have my tickets and if you are willing to change planes, you can fly for very good prices!

It says it is Continental, but if you read the fine print, it is on NWA!

Continental has a great deal for our Nov trip, $148.30 per person. But as Carol said, the times are not great. As for NWA matching...their rates went up to $320 on the flight we wanted. I'll wait it out for now, see what Sun Country comes up with.

Does anybody know when Sun Country will release dates later in the year? I am planning to go in November also and am patiently waiting for their release. I am almost thinking of switching to MEA week as Continental has cheap flights for that week.
