I have not seen this since...the 80s...Never seen it with my kids. :guilty:

Our upcoming trip I am tossing around the idea of doing an evening MK day, so we can catch the parade.
I assume they have made changes/added new floats since the 80s? :)
Still have Elliott the dragon? (I am starting to show my age-yikes!)

In order for us to see it, we'd have to give up a day somewhere, since we only have 5 day tickets, no hoppers (I had 2 MK days planned, but they were RD days), AND we'd have to go to MK on a more crowded day since we are going first week of December, so most nights there are MVMCPs.
SO, is it worth it? Maybe save it for another time when we don't go during MVMCPs?
What are your opinions, you think it's a must do, or are you okay not seeing it?

As a kid, MSEP was one of the best parts of going to Disney. The music for MSEP is the ringtone on my phone. Our upcoming trip will be the first for everyone in the family and I am eager to share some of my favorite things about Disney with DH and the kids. This would be a must do for us and I would rearrange my days or splurge for hoppers to make it happen. I have never seen anything else like the MSEP.

MSEP is a must for me...a night time parade with lights is just something I have never seen anywhere else. It still has Pete's Dragon...it's kind of cool to see the older characters. I always make sure I have at least one night at MK where I can see Wishes and MSEP...even if that means going on a slightly busier day. And that is usually the case in September when I go because of MNSSHP. Actually...my favorite thing to do depending on what day we arrive is to hit MSEP and Wishes on arrival night. Such a magical way to start the trip.

I was really surprised when I went in 2011 because I was expecting SpectroMagic from when I was a kid.

The MSEP music wasn't really my favorite I found it to be a little grating.

But we just went in April and I really enjoyed MSEP this go around! Nothing better than sitting on Main Street watching the parade!

I was holding out hope id eventually get to see SpectroMagic again but I read here that all those floats were dismantled. Maybe they'll use that soundtrack down the road who knows.

Electrical Parades are always a must for us in WDW.

I think it depends on if you are “parade people” or not. My family likes MSEP better than Spectro, but we never really sit and watch. We will often walk along the bridge in Frontierland on the way to BTMRR and see it from a distance, or catch a part of it while exiting the park. (DH and DS would much prefer to ride on things than sit and watch a parade or a show.)

I like the characters on the floats better than I did Spectro, and the music does not stick in my head for days and days afterwards. I also believe it has not changed (much if at all) from when it originally came out. Yes, Elliot is still there! I like it, but I can also live without it.

If you think your family would like it, or you remember it from when you were a kid and really want to re-experience it with them, then go for it. Either rearrange your park days or go for the park hopper. For some people, it makes their whole trip. Plus, it is something rather unique that Disney does. If you don’t think your family would care, then don’t worry about rearranging things. Disney is a different experience for everyone...

We have seen both MSEP and Wishes once all the way through. That was enough for us. We will catch glimpses of it on our trips, but we don’t feel the need to make special arrangements for it. And our favorite spot for Wishes? On BTMRR! You can’t hear the whole story, but it is pretty cool watching from the ride.

Hope you have fun no matter what you decide!

We like it, especially the kiddos. The lights and music really hold their attention!! Just very whimsical!!

Thanks for the input! I am going to talk with the group and see what they all think. I'd like to see it with them, I do remember thinking it was about the coolest thing when I was young. :thumbsup2 We just got into the habit of RD and leave for the day by 2-3, since we are off site, we never drive back over. Maybe do a late afternoon with our 3 FPs and catch MSEP...
