MS systems down

I think you're sound very realistic, it's going to be the phone lottery at 11 months, who's calls get answered first at 9am. It's that way now, but going to get worse(more on hold time for everyone).

When will we see the "AKV owners hogging MS phone lines trying to book CL rooms thread?

I can see this happening at all times of the year, not just at high demand times. For someone at AKV on any given day, it will always be the start of their 11mos. ressie period. Never thought how it might affect the phone lines!! (Bad day for the #99!! :sad2: )

This will not just be at "busy" times, it will be all year. Those will be popcorn:: threads!

:scared: 99's day yesterday. On to Richmond!

Then seeing the rooms that WERE rented are going to "friends" (another person) and renters, that just makes it more difficult to see.

I'm the person who is reserving concierge for friends and I just wanted to give a little background as I can understand how people might think this is unfair. I bought DVC in July 2007 and got 160 points (user year April). Much as I would love to use them myself, we travel from the UK and can't afford the flights, tickets & spending money(x 5) until summer 2009. I banked these points into 2008 and they expire end of Mar 09. I can't use them, can't transfer banked points and wouldn't like to rent them.

My "friend" however has looked after our pre-school daughter for 2 years for very little money and has also suffered some family tragedy recently. This is our way of saying thanks to her & her family and giving them a chance to stay somewhere & have an experience they would never be able to afford. I will take no money, I just want them to enjoy it as they've never been to Disney. I only wish I could see their faces when they get there:)

I don't know why but I just wanted to set the record straight and I sincerely hope that everyone on these boards gets their wish list request :flower3:

Everyone has to decide for themselves what to do when MS tells you something. My decision has been NOT to call at all that day because it was on such a day that I lost my reservation and the one that I was told was available. So, from now on, I won't call on that kind of day. You chose to ignore the time line they gave, and others went with it. I'm pretty sure we can all live with the consequences of our decisions.

I have a 7 month booking change that I want to make coming up in June for next January. I'm going to try to switch from OKW to AKV and will start with trying for CL, and if that's not available, I'll do SV. I'm even open to doing a 1 bedroom for part of it and a 2 bedroom for part of it, since we have 3 people the first 4 days and 6 people for the next 4 days. I will call at the 7 month mark from the LAST check out day, and will NOT do day by day booking for this ressie. If I lose out on AKV completely, it's no big deal. We have guests going with us who would like AKV, but I will NOT try to change that in a day by day booking, just because I would worry about not getting the whole thing at once. I'l take my chances, and the least I will take is a Savanna view. That way, if I don't get it, we KNOW we will at least be in the same villa at OKW for the whole trip and not be bouncing around.

I also asked on another thread, but Inkman, you've had experience. If we wanted to do the Sunrise Safari, what nights' bookings would currently work for one of those? Do you know? DH and I would like a 3 night AKV CL stay and hope to do all of the offerings.

I do hope your waitlist comes through.

Thanks.
Bobbi

Thanks! The sunrise safaris are on Thurs or Sun morning. If you are staying Wed or Sat night, that's the easiest. We just did the safari on Sunday 4/20 and there was a couple just checking in to AKL who came on the safari with us. I guess that means if you're staying on Thur or Sun nights, that would also work. You have to be at AKV really early though so it wouldn't be so convenient coming from another hotel to get there that early.

I was checking on airfare for our March trip and noticed that it was much higher for our planned dates of March 18-24 than it was for March 17-24. We had VWL studio March 18-22, AKV concierge studio March 22, and then AKV savanna view March 23 (waitlisted for concierge.) I didn't want to add yet another night March 17 at AKV (where I have points left) and have to switch rooms 3 times!

When I asked about switching the AKV portion to the beginning of our trip and ending with VWL, things fell into place. The AKV concierge studio was available for 3 nights in a row- March 17, 18 and 19! I couldn't believe it. Especially since the 19th is my birthday. I grabbed those 3 nights and moved VWL to March 20-24. Now we have a whole week at WDW and only need to switch rooms once. AND we have 3 nights in concierge! AND I saved $168 in airfare for the two of us by going a day early.

Things worked out well in the end.

  When this thread popped up again, I thought good thing I called earlier this morning.

Glad to see you got your Concierge booking.

OK Inkmahm this is terrific for you! I think you'll have to spend some time helping make pixie dust although I don't think too many of us have the recipe.:thumbsup2

Thanks, everyone!
