I tried to change from SSR to OKW for 12/03-12/16 and MS told me no availability for a 2 br. I went to disney.com(just for fun) and tried for a 2br and waalaa room available. How do I get this room with points. Susan

Hi Susan,
Unfortunately, just because OKW 2 bedroom is listed on disney.com for cash doesn't necessarily mean it's available for points. DVC reserves a certain amount of their accomodations for cash ressies only. You could put yourself on a waitlist for the OKW 2 bed ? I'd hang on to that SSR ressie though, just in case. Is there a reason you want to switch ? Good luck !

Thanks for the response's. We wanted to switch to save DSIS some cash. She is paying cash for three night's(NOT member discount either) and we could get the same nights on points without her having to pay any cash out of pocket. Thank's Susan

FYI, the cash ressies and point ressies come from different inventories. The cash ressies are either from the 4% retained by Disney at each resort or from the points that were used for exchanges into the Disney Collection. That's why there might not be point ressies available, but there are cash ressies available.

I new about the 4% resservation policy but didn't realize that at almost 6 months out OKW would be unavailable :sad2: . I would rather stay at SSR but by needing fewer points I could have gotten all the rooms needed(on points) and no one would have had to pay any cash.DSIS is getting a little panicky about the cost of this trip and I was hoping to save her a little stress. She has 10 nights on my points and 3 nights cash in a 2 br. Those 3 nights would sure give her a lot of spending money. I've allready banked, borrowed all available points so :confused3 was hoping she could get into OKW. We used cash for the weekends and points for the days to help extend her trip. We will figure something out for her. we will have 4 generations on this trip of a lifetime and I can't wait, I feel like a little kid planning this trip. Susan

i am not what the 2 bedroom rate is but maybe you can rent your points and pay cash. did you ask ms if it was avialable thru ms for cash, sometimes you can get a 25% discount, ms only requires the first night deposit and you can pay for the rest at check in.

The time period you have chosen is very popular with DVC members and goes very quickly. You might try a wait list.

In that case, I think your only choice is the waitlist. If you waitlist now, I would think you have a possibilbity of getting at least some of the days to come through.

I would suggest making a cancellable reservation somewhere. Then I'd get on th waitlist for the 2 bedroom at OKW and tell them to book it day-by-day but to call you first -- not to automatically book. If you wait for the entire 13 nights to become available in one shot, that could be difficult. If you piece it together with any nights that open up, you increase your chances. If they call you, you can tell them to cancel anything else you're holding on points (if necessary) to free them up to make this reservation. Of course, if you don't get the whole thing, at some point you'll have to decide whether you could work with having to move during the trip or cancelling what you've got at OKW and sticking with the original back-up.
