I was confronted with a very "stiff formal" script that the MS representative was obviously reading. I have never had that happen before, and it kind of put me off. I am sure it is to make sure everyone gets the same information, but it seemed so impersonal. I did get her to loosen up a little as the conversation progressed. They do seem to be asking everyone for the last 4 numbers of the social # and requiring names of all guests. I asked what we should do if the number and names of guests changed before the reservation date, and she said to call back and change things with MS so check in would go faster. I guess this is the way they are handling making check-in easier when everyone needs a seperate name specific resort ID. I think this might have a bit to do with security as well.

I just called this morning to pay off our trip and they were really nice and didnt sound scripted. You may have had a new CM.

I'm confused...What do you mean "pay off your trip"?

Sorry, didnt realize this was DVC board. I could have sworn I saw Community Board. My fault.

I meant that I just called them today to pay off the rest of my trip balance.

I've noticed the "scripted" dialogue too. All about what happens to your points if you cancel and everything. Probably for legal reasons and so many new DVC members who may be making their first ressie.

I called MS a couple weeks ago to make December ressies and change June from a 1 bedroom to a studio. The CM was helpful and friendly (though obviously busy), then she went into the monotone script. I interupted her and told her I'm a long time member and am familiar with the rules. She again loosened up, then asked if I understood the holding account. My reply was that I've never been in that situation, but knew how it works...she seemed happy at that. My guess is they are getting a LOT of questions and complaints from members who have not taken the time to understand how DVC actually works.

We have never given them this information and it is not in their system, so they do not ask us for those magic numbers. :wave2:

How did you buy property without giving your soc. number?

I just made a reservation yesterday, and was not asked the names of guests. The CM didn't sound scripted either, and as a matter of fact I wasn't given a confirmation number either. I must have had a rebel CM!!

Yikes!!! I always have my computer set up at the area where I type in the confirmation in to my database...That is the one thing I surely would have asked for. If it were me, I think I'd send an email to MS and ask for my conf#.

I wasn't asked for the name of the other person on the room, either. But since it is only 2 adults, they probably figured it is just as easy to handle that at check-in.

I made 18 reservations over the last week and never was asked for any names on them other than whether I just wanted to put my name on both rooms (they just wanted to know # of adults and the ages of the other occupants for each room). I was asked my last four digits almost every day, and all but one day was put through the task of verifying address and phone number. All the CM's were very polite, but in general they were almost all regimental (even ones that I know have been there for a while as I have talked with them before).

I called this afternoon to add a cash night to my May OKW reservation. They did ask for my last 4 digits. The cm was great, confirmed cash night availability right away, linked the reservations, transferred my requests over (I added a Saturday night at the beginning).

mckyran,

No reason to be jealous. LOL. 9 nights, 2 studios per night means 18 different reservation transactions (though some were just add ons of night) for ONE Xmas DVC trip. The point was that I needed to call seven different times, talk with seven different MS CM's and do all these transactions without having been asked for names.

We did not finance and when they asked us for the SS# (when we purchased) we asked why they needed it and they said they guessed they didn't. When they first started asking for it when making reservations a few years back, we refused (saying that they did not have record of it-which they didn't) so they accepted that. Hate giving out that number!

Well, I guess it's not as amazing as it first sounded. It's still pretty amazing to me because I don't have anything planned (yet) this year. I'm still trying to convince my husband that it would be fun to go down to WDW again! :cheer2:

We will be staying at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club this weekend and I just got off the phone with their MS. In order to get the PHONE NUMBER of the particular resort to give it to our loved ones, I had to give, reservation number, my and DH's name, home phone, home address, including zip code, DH's work number, they also wanted one of his e-mail address. I refused to give the e-mail address, I had enough, all I wanted was a phone number!

The person asked me "Don't you want your information to be kept private?"

I admit that I feel more stressed out than relieved after this simple call.

Bobbi
