To obtain the $100 discount for APs, do you have to call through MS or can you do it some other way?

TIA

Ellen

You can get them through the website and also at any guest services location at a park or downtown disney.

How do they know to deduct the DVC discount? Do you have to enter your member #/show your card?

If you want to use the website, you go to the DVC member website and follow the click-throughs to the online ticket area.

Remember, if you buy over the phone or over the website, you will only receive a voucher, not an actual pass. You will still need to go to guest services at one of the parks or DtD, with ID and your membership card to trade the voucher for your actual pass.

The only reason to pre-order the pass is to:

1) lock in the price, in case you are afraid of a price increase
2) get the voucher so you can pre-order th DDE
3)you want to spend the money now, rather than budgeting for it during your trip.
4)you are getting a renewal, but are not visiting WDW within one month of your current expiration (but that makes little sense, as the renewed pass would be back-dated to the expiration of your old pass...the small pricebreak won't make up for losing the additional time on the pass)

It saves no time or $$$ to pre-order a voucher. It will take just as much time to trade it for the pass at Guest Services as it does to buy it in person.

It took us about 10 minutes to purchase PAPs for the three of us with the DVC discount at the International Gateway. We showed our Drivers licences, our blue member card and handed over a credit card. In less than 10 minutes we were walking into the park with our new PAPs.

In some cases it does make sense. We ordered one renewal AP willcall two years ago. DS' AP had expired in January but shortly before a Feb trip we realized he could join us. It was within the 30 day grace period, we knew we had no plans for a Feb trip the following year so we renewed and saved $15.

I've bought APs via the DVC website in the past, but have also purchased them at DTD guest relations and MGM guest relations. Like the other posters, you just need your picture ID, Blue DVC membership card and your credit card.

If you purchase over the phone, you have to give the CM your membership number and they make sure you are who you say you are. Then they send you the AP voucher. You then have to take the voucher to guest relations to trade it in for your actual AP. You then have to show your blue DVC membership card and a picture ID.

Since a price increase is a reason to order an AP before you go, is there any talk of a price increase coming soon?

Thanks -

Ellen

It's rare than we know ahead of time - there is occasionally some speculation on the Theme Parks Board (which is not always right). Don't recall anything recently though. Might want to post over there to see what they think - there are several CMs who frequent that board.

Wow...thanks Guys.....i've been on hold for 15 mins with MS to ask that very same question. Now I can hang up and wait until we arrive in April...

For #2, to pre-order DDE, how exactly is this done.:confused3
First trip home coming up(only 250 days away), and will be getting AP, DDP, and thinking of also getting DDE as we will return March/08 without DDP.
Thanks

When exactly do you get your permanent card? We bought last month before the Friends & Family promo expired and have already booked a trip the end of April. We received a temporary card that has an expiration date of May 7, 2007. Will I have any problems using that to buy AP's if my permanent card hasn't yet arrived?

You should be able to use the temporary card to get the discounted APs/PAPs if your permanent card doesn't arrive before then.

If you are worried about the expiration date on your temp card, you can go to the Sales Center at SSR and the CMs there can print you a new temp card. I don't know if those have expiration dates on them or not.

To order the DDE, you call 407-566-5858. They are open M-F, 8a-5p, Eastern.

The DDE is good for 1 year from the time you order it, so no need to be in a hurry if you won't need it until March of 2008.

You have to have an AP/PAP when you order - either the actual pass or a voucher to purchase. You do not have to have an AP/PAP to USE the discount card, so as long as you order it before your AP/PAP expires, you're good to go.

Thanks! I figured as much, but it's always nice to get a little bit of reassurance from you folks :goodvibes

I am going to use DDE for our Nov./07 trip too(along with the DDP).
I was thinking to just get the AP when we arrive, but if I need it first, I guess I'll have to order AP ahead. Does the AP expire 1 year after you activate it there or when you order it?
Can I order the DDE at the same time as I call to get the AP, or do I need to have an actual number off of the AP voucher before I order the DDE.
When I order DDE, do they send me an actual card that I'll need to receive before we go, or do I pick something up when I get there??
Thanks

You'll need to have the numbers off the back of the voucher or the actual AP pass to order the DDE card.

The DDE year is from the time you order it - but they do allow time for shipping. It expires at the end of a month - it's not strictly a 365 day thing like the AP/PAP. For example, if you order Monday, 2/26 (the office isn't open on weekends or evenings), your year will probably run through the end of March 2008. If you wait until mid March, it will go to the end of April, 2008. When you call, just ask the CM what the expiration will be and if you need it to be a month later, ask when the next "shift" is - usually, they start going with the next month around the 10th, give or take a few days.

If you order the DDE too late to recieve the permanent card by mail (takes a week or two), you can ask the DDE CM to arrange for a temporary card. You pick that up at EPCOT Guest Relations - one at the main entrance. That's the only place that you can get the temp DDE cards. It's a good way to make sure your DDE card is good for 2 trips if you travel 51 weeks apart like we do (to get the most out of our APs).

Can you get both AP's and DDE when you arrive, We never do anything our 1st day but hang out in DTD

It depends upon when you arrive. You can get your APs anytime the parks or DtD is open. You need to purchase the DDE by phone after you have your AP or voucher number. The DDE office is only open Monday-Friday, 8 (or 9 ?) to 5. If you call DDE in the morning, you can pick up a temp card at EPCOT that afternoon/evening.
