MS & dvcmember.com Upgrade Today

Anyone know what the upgrades will be? I know they've shut down a couple of times, but the only thing I know they've done is the split so you can do different types of dining plans on different days. Is this upgrade going to do something else?

I suppose they're probably shutting down for the day to make sure they can find a way for me to get that last night at VGC that I need next month. That's awfully nice of them. Just imagine what kind of fantastic room they're going to find for me after they shut down for a whole day!

I called today and was able to make my reservations. Even changed a reservation for February to using holding points.

I guess I souldn't have used the words "shut down." I think MS has limited capabilities today and the some functions on dvcmember.com are not available. This morning I was getting a message that I could not log in to the website, but I see that it's available now.

Either way my waitlist hasn't come through....something must not be going right!

So it is now the day after; is there anything we are supposed to notice as being different on the site?

I don't think there will be anything yet. It is all in prepartion for being able to book online next year.

a lot of the work at the moment is in integrating the resorts and dvc backroom in a similar way to regular roomsat non dvc resorts in preparation for online booking at the end of next year

And the split thing too, that is part of the upgrade (even though it has been available for a month now). Actually, the enhancement itself isn't exactly a split. It is this concept of "travel plan" that multiple reservations can be lumped into one travel plan with one single confirmation number. That's how they can now allow dining plan to split. So, it isn't exactly a split. It is just multiple reservations lumped together. If you start with one reservation, but close to check-in want to add dining plan for, say, 3 of your 5-day reservation, you will have to cancel and re-book 2 days and it can only be done if those 2 days still have available inventory.

This travel plan enhancement does make it easier if you are arranging a big party with multiple families. All reservations for all the families traveling together can be in one travel plan with one confirmation number. No more having to specify "put me close to John Smith's room" kind of request as that is the default for all reservations in the same travel plan.
