MR trip reports

I also can't wait to hear all the info from their cruise.
I thought that I would pass the time and read some old trip reports of the MR but I couldn't find any of them.
Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

I'm really looking forward the most to hear if there is a different menu than what was offered last yr on the Wonder.

I have never been on the Wonder. We have sailed on the Magic 3 times. The last trip on the Magic was in '09. If the menus haven't changed, I don't think I would remember :)

Tomorrow is Friday.....they will be back soon!!!

Very ecxited! Especially because WE leave on the Wonder this Sunday!

Yeah!!!:yay::yay:

We live in Lancaster too! Hmm, I wonder if we know each other?? You should check out our meet thread and get to know the others that we're cruising with. We are also getting together around 11 in the port terminal, just look for the Dis sign.

Stinkerbell,

Have a great trip!!! Please consider posting daily Navigators when you get back so we future cruisers can get a sense for what ship board activities are and what type of sales/deals the shops and spa might have.

I'm also curious about what type of tour operators are stationed as people get off the boat at ports and what tours and prices they might offer to people who want to do some tours excursions that are not through Disney.

I'll have an 11 year old with me so I hope there are lots of fun "out and about" activities (tours of the ships for the kids, etc.) for kids for those that don't want to stay "locked in" at the clubs.

Lastly, is alcohol that much cheaper at the duty free shops? I'm not a big drinker but would be interested in buying a good bottle of tequila if you';d ave more than $4 or 5 bucks. I've heard the bottles sold on board and in Mexico are different sizes than those in the states so one must be careful when doing price comparisons.

I could go on and on with questions! You'd need to carry a notebook around with you all the time to collect information! LOL Our first ever DCL cruise will be the MR on the Wonder in October 2011 so I realize they may "tweak" the activities, menus, etc. by then but am looking forward to hearing all about the MR trips from you lucky people that are doing the trip in Jan & Feb.

Oh, oh, oh . . . I just read this in another thread :

"All alcoholic drinks, non-alcoholic drinks and gourmet coffees are available for an additional charge. Guests who purchase a specialty coffee mug—available in Cove Café and other shops onboard—are entitled to a complimentary coffee in Cove Café."

Your mission, Stinkerbell, if you choose to accept it, is to find out if this is true and how much the specialty coffee mug costs. :worship:Thank you.

1. Has the food quality improved since the 2-night cruise?

Was that the "cruise to nowhere"? All I can vouch for is that the food quality at dinner on the Wonder's Panama Canal crossing was MUCH better than I had on either the Wonder or the Magic in the past two years. I would expect a lot of the menu would translate to the MR.

jumping on the bandwagon here... 1st disney cruise MR 4/3 but have never had to wait this long for details, heee heee. hopefully you all will report back to this thread since we are all subscribed now, yippee!!

That's an easy one, I am a coffee snob and planning on getting a CC mug, so I definitely accept the mission;)

I've got some questions!!!

1. How early can you get to port?
2. Did any of you try for a port upgrade? How much to go up category?
3. What time did they start boarding?
4. Did any of you stay at Crowne Plaza, do they have early shuttles or only at certain times?
5. How early were you able to leave the ship on disembarking?

I'll keep it to five now! :)

Thanks travelers!!!
Safe voyage!

When I went down to the port to take pictures of the Wonder arriving, I saw a constant stream of CP shuttles taking guests from the port to the hotel. I didn't pay attention to shuttles taking passengers from the hotel to the port.

I can answer a few of these from our 2 night cruise to nowhere last weekend.

1. We arrived at the port at 9:30 and there were some people standing outside the doors. They had already dropped off their luggage and were waiting for the doors to open. We got out our luggage and took it over to luggage drop off and there wasn't anybody around as they were all terribly busy helping debarking passengers. we waited around til 10 when someone was able to take our luggage for us.

2.?? Didnt try for an upgrade
3. Boarding started at 11:45 for concierge. We had #2 boarding pass and boarded around noon.

4. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza but we drove and parked at the port so I don't know about shuttles. I will say that it seemed like a nice hotel but our tv didn't work correctly ( you couldn't adjust the volume and it was way too loud, ) and we didn't want to change rooms since we were connecting with my parents so it did kind of suck when we wanted to watch a little tv before bed and in the morning while getting ready.

5. Debarking began at 7:30 for those who wanted to skip breakfast and walk off with all their luggage. We should have done that because there was a mob of people waiting in line to debark at 8:30 at which point you had to wait til your luggage tag group was called. We waited for ours to be called 30-40 minutes and then just decided to walk off with another group because my parents had already debarked with their group and were waiting for us. We were driving home together.

We checked in to the Doubletree this afternoon and it is pretty much just an "eh-it's alright" kind of place. It's definitely not a destination hotel but for one night it will do. As far as I can tell- it's clean, check-in was great and the staff were very friendly, it just seemed tired and in need of a facelift. The hotel, parking, breakfast and shuttle is free for us (we are using Hilton points) so I really cannot complain! Actually, we live fairly close to the port and my in-laws live in Huntington Beach, so we are having dinner with them instead of exploring San Pedro, so I can't review those restaurants bars etc... However, the kids got to see the Sapphire Princess, Norwegian something and the Queen Elizabeth in port today...very exciting for them:goodvibes I will sign off now but I promise to post navigators and a trip report when we return ASAP, I can't leave my DIS peeps in the dark:rotfl:

Thanks!! Have a great trip.....5 more Sundays and I will be there!!! :cheer2:

Thank you in advance for offering to answer questions on the MR itinerary. This is our family's first DCL cruise and I'm excited to know as much as possible about the ship and ports. Some of my questions are:

1. Has the food quality improved since the 2-night cruise?

Yep, keep in mind that food quality can be quite subjective.

I know someone on the C2N was complaining about how dry and horrible the swordfish was. Funny thing, 5 out of 8 people at our table had swordfish, and we all commented on how good it was. :rotfl:
Maybe we were at different seatings, or in different restaurants, or maybe some folks are just pickier than others... who knows? :confused3

But like wideeyedwonder, overall I thought the food was fine.
Yes, there were some things I absolutely would not eat, especially at the breakfast buffet (anyone else dislike the runny eggs as much as I do?) but that has been the case on every DCL trip we've taken.

Honestly, as long as you keep in mind that they're preparing massive quantites of food so you're not expecting a Michelin rated dining experience at every meal, I wouldn't worry too much about food quality.

I will sign off now but I promise to post navigators and a trip report when we return ASAP, I can't leave my DIS peeps in the dark.

Thank you:worship::worship:

As people are probably just starting to disembark I thought I'd bump this up.
