I read about the parts store in Downtown Disney for Mr. Potato Head. Has anyone ever done this, what pieces are available? Thought this would be a nice souvenier, but would like more info.

They do make a great souvies! They have every part you can imagine, and lots of Disney themed things too. Like a suitcase, poncho, really cute stuff. I'm trying to remember everything, hats, shoes, earings. We also saw them in other souvenier shops at the parks.

Oh, and WELCOME TO THE DIS!!!! :cheer2:

Two years ago, we bought the Mr. Potato Head box in DD and then bought extra accessories in the gift shop at Pirates of the Caribbean. It has been a favorite toy ever since! At DD ( I think it was Once Upon a Toy) you buy the box for a set price and whatever pieces you can fit in the box and still close it are yours. I wasn't thinking and actually put the main potato part in the box and didn't realize that its back opens to hold more things. I would recommend fitting just the Disney accessories in the box and buying a Mr. Potato Head set from WalMart when you get home. I bought an extra one when we got home just so each child could play with the pieces. Great, usable souvenir and well worth the money!

My DD chose to spend her own money on the potato parts and LOVES them. We already had the potato at home so we crammed a lot of pieces in the box. I think it was either $15 or $18 for whatever you could fit inside.

Some of the parts that I can remember are:
Mickey ice cream
bride and groom mouse ears
mouse ears
RnRC guitar
Mickey balloon
Goofy hat
they also have regular parts like arms, lips, eyes, glasses etc.

The potato head is awesome. The parts for it are mostly WDW only type parts. If you have a DD there is the same thing for the Little Ponies, too.
Both are awesome. :)

If possible, get some potatoe bodies somewhere else. A body takes up so much room in the box. We got 3 bodies at a garage sale. I've seen them a lot a resale shops too. Then stuff the box with all of the Disney exclusive pieces. Don't forget the arms! The regular ones will not hold the Disney items. If you pack creatively you can cram a lot into one of those boxes! :) Here are some of the pieces I remember fitting in our box. Mickey shoes, Mickey ears hat, Mickey Sorcerer's Hat, Goofy Hat, Mad Hatter Hat, Minnie Princess Hat, Autograph book, Camera, Pin Trading Lanyard, Mickey ice cream bar, Mickey balloon, Pirate Eyes, Minnie Bow, Mickey doll. We also fit in three sets of arms and maybe a few pieces I can't remember. (My memory of them is only this good cause I played with them with my 3 yr. old the other day. LOL)

Here is a list. They do have other stuff there-this is just the "exclusive" parts. They have others that are just "plain" parts too. Not all the NY parts are available in WDW. If you do this REMEMBER arms. regular Mr Potato Head arms will NOT hold the disney stuff. It's $18 per box. When I was there last I got 4 boxes and I still need 18 parts to have everything. They do the boxes at:
Once upon a Toy DD
Gearworks Epoct
Mickey's toontown shop and the shop near POC in MK
One of the shops in Asia in AK

we went to wdw 9/05 and i let my husband pack the parts box (hes the best packer ever!) he was able to fit every part that they had in the store in the one box except the bride and groom mickey ears. and we brought our own tater heads from home. word to the wise though-- carefully choose your arms. when we got back to our room we realized that even though we had picked up what we thought was a r and l arm from different bins, we actually had 2 r arms. so they get mixed up and you just need to look at them carefully! i have a question for all of you disney potato head experts....
were going back this year, will they have new disney parts? just trying to plan my souvenir budget! thanks!

we did this with mr potato peices and my little pony acess also! :)

they have those ll you can fit in the box deals! My dd loves having the Disney ml pony stuff! :) also all the girls in our playgroup love playing with the DW acessories! :)

I don't know about MGM but I didn't see any there.

We picked up ours in a toy shop in MGM; it kept DD6 busy at the Brown Derby. We bought additional parts at Everything POP, the gift shop at POP Century, so they are available literally all through the world.

DW asked me to point out that not every piece is available in every location, and you pick up different things in different stores.

A couple of things that we got, which I didn't see mentioned (apologies all around if I missed it) are Cinderella feet, including glass slippers and toes with red nail polish, Lilo's feet, and a lanyard full of trading pins.

Also, to agree with one admonishen, be careful with the hands. It's very, very easy to wind up with two left hands.

When do new parts come out? We will be there early OCt. and Feb will I be able to get parts?

I plan on doing games with the kids by the pool so new parts would be great.

With our first ever WDW trip coming up, I've never seen the Disney Mr. Potato Heads--this sounds great!!!

I have a quick questions--do the Disney parts fit a standard Mr. Potato Head or are there special Disney ones? Thanks!

Yep! All the parts fit the Mr. Potato Head's we had at home that we bought at Target!

My question - are all these parts available still? I noticed you had entered "release" dates...so can I still get the parts that were released in 2003? I have a few from our 2004 trip, but I WANT MORE :teeth:

I have had this on my list of things to get since the first time I read about it. My plan is to just pack the heads in the kids suit cases so they can play with them in the room during our off time. Thank you to the person who posted the list of items available, I will be printing it out to bring with us. (I can't see your name while I reply sorry) We live in RI and Mr. Potato Head is a big thing here, there are several giant ones at a lot of different local businesses so the kids adore him. Not to mention my DS2 is OBSESSED with Toy Story. Again thanks for the details!

If I remember correctly, they have a Dumbo base, in assorted colors, just like the ride. I haven't bought any, but I kinda wished I had.

Just a reminder for the people who are taking naked Potato Heads with them. You might pack regular ears and eyes so you don't need to get any down at WDW.

Don't forget to pick up the the "special" arms to hold the balloons or ice cream. We forgot (only have 1). My DD LOVES this toy. Can't wait to get more pieces. :thumbsup2

this board is just so cool, i love all of the helpful info I learn on here. Thanks for the advice. Can't wait to see all of the cool Disney parts.
