Which Downtown Disney store sells the Mr. Potato Head parts, the all you can fit into a bag/box ones? How much does this cost? I told my son about this and he's very excited about new parts. What unusual parts do they have? Thanks

Hijacking this thread to add...... do the body parts from WDW fit on the standard Mr/Mrs potato heads you can buy in the shops (i.e. non-Disney shops)?

We saw them at the World of Disney in DTD. The box costs 18.00. Not sure if the parts fit a standard Mr. Potato Head.

HINT-When filling the box make sure you open Mr Potato Head and fill him first then stuff him in the box then fill in all around him.

The parts that we saw and purchased were all Disney related.

Yes they do fit the standard mr. potatoe head and I reccoemnd just filling the box with the pieces only and buying a family pack of potatoes from your local toy store....much cheaper.

It has to be the ones that are able to hold the magic wand, Christmas Tree, Mickey Bar, etc.

And make sure you get both right & left hands.

I did buy just a box of parts & our whole family loves to play together.

Sometimes you can get the 'tater cheap from WalMart or Target.

hth,
Judy

yes, the parts do fit the standard Potato Heads. They have some different hats, feet, etc, but the neatest unusual parts are the Disney related ones. They have Mickey shaped glasses, Mickey ears hats, Mickey balloons, autograph books, cameras, etc. They also have cowboy and pirate kits you can buy (not part of the fill the Potato display). We spent a lot on Mr. Potato head when we went 2 yrs ago, but my son was really into it at the time and still plays with them.

We love our tater. If you look around in the other parks as well you can find specialty items. In the gift shop outside Pirates we got POTC parts in a box for around $6. They had cowboy/sherrif parts in frontier land. You can also get the fill the box kind at toontown, the shop next to dinoland in AK and the big toy store in DTD. This trip we will be looking for more parts. There are also some little taters and parts for them as well. We think darth tater is cool too. You can get more parts if you just but a tater at walmart or target and then fill your box with no tater, just parts. That way you also already have some of the basic parts like eyes and ears and don't have to waste space on those. At Once upon a toy they also had extra pieces you could bu seperately like a rain poncho and the dumbo ride. Another little hint....we really wanted space ranger spin but it took up like half the box, I asked if there was anyway I could buy just it and they said if I was buying a box sometimes they will sell individual parts as well. I think they charged me 2 or 3 dollars for it. I think the whole box is around 18-20. All this info is from our trip last september. Good luck. My son loves this toy, but my 17yr old niece played with it even more I think. She changed him and took pictures to show her friends. She is going with us this time and I am guessing this will be one of her souvies. We are planning to pick her up a regular one at the store as a trip gift so she can spend her money on the parts and not the tater.

This is a tip from the "Potato Head Queen" as dubbed by the cast member @ Once upon a Toy. I did not see them at World of Disney on my trip in May ONLY at Once upon a toy (they have the Disney My Little Pony's too, but that's another story for another time :). Anyway, here are the absolute most important tips I can give you about getting your $$ worth of Potato Head. 1st, buy the actual Potato Head body at Wal-Mart or Toys R Us (Wal-Mart has the Darth Tater out and is less than $8.00 plus comes with cool Darth Vader parts). Anyway, on with the story. If you buy the body at Disney, that alone takes up 75% of the total box space...no...no...no!!

Get all the parts you want (don't put them in the box yet) and start a "pile" on the counter. Don't be stingy, get all the parts you want. Especially get the arms with the cupped hand, these arms are the only arms in the universe that are compatible with Disney balloons, ice creams, etc. Once you have gotten all the parts you want, carefully and methodically, place them one by one into the box. Doing this makes the absolute most of the space in the box. Some of the items simply don't fit well (goofy ears, or Buzz lightyear space ship) so I made some changes. I did omit the buzz ship but did get the goofy ears. After a few minutes of careful placement I got everything I wanted in the box. At the end, there were a few "empty spots" which I filled with small items like ice creams, name tags, arms, etc. My box weighed nearly 2 pounds!! The cast member who checked me out said I had the heaviest and most full box he had ever seen (even better than he could do) and dubbed me the Potato Head Queen. Sadly, I am proud of that honor. Anyway, hope this helps. Same advice for the My Little Pony kit!! have fun

Thanks Potato Head Queen. Great advice. We'll do just what you said! Do you have any pictures of your potato heads? I'd love to show my son all the Mickey/Disney stuff that he'll be able to get.

Can you fill the box with just parts? At World of Disney in NYC I had to buy a body or they would have charged me $2.00 per piece.

Don't forget there are other places to buy them also, we saw them at Everything POP (Gift shop @POP) and we bought ours at the huge gift shop in Epcot (I think it was called MouseGear) it was in FutureWorld near Spaceship Earth.

Never thought about not buy the head there! Great tip. We did fill the body with parts and then filled the box the rest of the way. It was $18.00. We bought 2 for our 2 dd but it was one of their few souveneirs.

Sorry, no pics!
Have a great trip!

I was at the Disney Store in NYC and I was told that I had to buy the body as well otherwise they wouldnt sell me just one piece. It was all or nothing. I couldnt see spending $18 for another head as well as a few pieces. I have 4 heads already.
But if I could buy just the parts that would be cool.

When we bought ours in Toon Town last year, we had to buy the head and then fill the box. But we had a great CM who stuffed the body for us, rearranged everything so we got a ton of stuff. Technically the box is supposed to close on its own but she taped ours because it was bulging. Then she threw in some extra parts in the bag. She was wonderful and we had so much fun. It was late during the halloween party so the store was not busy. I can't wait to find more parts this year!

Thanks for the advice everyone. My DD picked up a Mrs PH at her school Easter fayre for 50p (85 cents), so i really dont mind paying $18 for a box of "bits".

I have found that the Cast Members are very good at filling the body and boxes with parts. They won't offer, you have to ask for assistance.

How about the printable computer potato heads you can do. I thought that was so fun comparing mine to that of my kids. What a great souvenire and it doesn't cost a thing. I noticed that it even had the date.

I have done PH's @ DisneyLand & DisneyWorld and never got the body, never charged anything additional either. Maybe just NY, :confused3

Since I try to keep all the PH parts together, I emptied the bag and took a pic. Everything here fit in box (including goofy ears & 1 more suitcase, but they are somewhere in the house :rotfl: ) There may be 1 or 2 "stow away" parts from Disneyland, but I kept both parks separate. Keep in mind, whatever parts may have been from Disneyland, do not make up for the goofy ears which are really big!! Just proud of my packing :rotfl2: Hope this comes up...here goes

My sons especially LOVE the Buzz Lightyear guns, and the gas mask...I must admit, the gas mask is pretty cute, will have to get some more in Oct.

What a great tip! Thanks so much for the post! I will be avidly looking for the POTC pirate: and Frontierland parts, I didn't know they existed. Gosh I love this board!
