MR October 28, 2012 "Halloween Time"

Oh my gosh, I guess I need to start shopping!
I guess my first thought is to let late comers on, but do explain that they may not get from everyone.
I will buy a few extra's when I go shopping.
33 days left!!

How to handle latecomers now that FE list is closed:

On other sailings I've been on people typically made a couple of extras in case of latecomers; however, not everyone did and no one was required to. All latecomers were told they are welcome to participate by GIVING gifts and IF anyone had extras they would be included in getting gifts - but that it couldn't be guaranteed. For this sailing/FE list I need to know how those participating want to handle latecomers. I've already had a late-add request, so I need to know ASAP. Is anyone already making a couple of extras? :confused3 Is everyone OK with telling latecomers they can give gifts and others will try to include them but that they can't expect something from everyone? Please let me know how you all want to proceed - again - I'm not even participating this time so I don't want to make the call without input from at least a couple of people. If at least a couple of people are making extras then I think this would work. Please let me know!

Thank you for handling this. I think that policy works just fine.

I may not have individual gifts like I am working on, but I will make something extra for them as a group.

Hi Amanda,

My daughter Ally is 6. Maybe we can introduce our kids first thing so they can become friends and play.

Thanks to everyone for responding about latecomers to the FE list. We will handle it that way. Since then though, that person who asked to add has not been responding to me...I'm starting to believe they might not even be on this sailing. Can you believe I've already have TWO people contact me wanting to join the list that weren't even on our cruise?!? I had to email them with the link to the proper board for their sailing! :confused3:rotfl2::confused3 Strange...

Anyway - I will add any latecomers if/when they come, but I will make it clear who is a latecomer. I will also make it clear to them that they can give gifts but they are not guaranteed to get anything...it will depend on whether or not there are extras.

Thank again everyone! :beach:

So...we decided to dress up for formal night! :woohoo: I don't know how formal it will be compared to everyone else's idea formal, but hey - it will be more than we usually do! :goodvibes

Why, you ask? Well...Ryan bought Lorelai a formal "Christmas dress" so she can have something for formal night on the cruise and for Christmas pictures. He has a suit, so I'm the only one without a formal outfit. That means - I have to buy a dress :scared1: I have it narrowed down to 3, it's just a matter of choosing which will be best for my body type...FAT! lol :rotfl: But seriously - to the women (and especially overweight women) - how do you choose?!?! Where I live it's kind of remote-ish and there are no places nearby to buy plus size formal clothes - which means I'm forced to buy it online. How do you choose when you can't even try it on?!? :confused3

I am buying black - I know that. And I want it to match Lorelai nicely. Hers is black and red (see below). I hate red, but hey, it's for Christmas and it's cute nonetheless.

Thanks!!

Wow, I haven't gotten ours yet. Has anyone else gotten theirs?
Was your cabin changed?

We haven't, but I'm not surprised. I'm actually surprised they did - I wonder if they asked for theirs early for some reason? :confused3 I was a travel agent for 8 years and typically cruise documents aren't sent until 2 weeks prior to sailing. The only way they would usually send them earlier would be if you told them you won't be in town 2 weeks prior and need them early. Unless they're starting to send them out earlier now! That would be AWESOME! :woohoo: DARN! I want to run out and check the mailbox but my husband has the only key! That does it - we have to get a second mailbox key made :rotfl2:

Cute dress!

Something to look forward to each year: Costco sells dresses like this for less than $20 around this time of year. I get one (sometimes 2) per year for my daughter. They are a great deal!

Thanks! My mother in law said the same thing and we checked Costco, but they had NOTHING in her size (they were all too big). The sign said they had them, but they must have sold out. Ryan got this one off of Zulily for 60% off, so it was only $20 too! :woohoo: I personally would have chosen a different dress, something more subtle or more elegant (less holiday-ish), but it's what Ryan liked. I guess I have to get used to red Christmas dresses anyway though, right?!? :rotfl:

I am plus sized too and having a hard time. I cannot find anything in Japan. This is SO not a plus sized friendly country.
I was going to order online but I too am scared about buying something without trying it on. And shipping to APP/FPO is like gambling, it may not even come in time!
One thing I have learned... Fitted actually makes you look smaller than buying something loose and trying to hide your size. Took me a long time to realize that.
Hopefully I will be ok waiting since I will be flying into CA. Just hoping I have enough time before we leave! We are taking a military flight from Japan to CA and seats aren't guaranteed. So we will have no idea what day we get to leave until the day we leave. Yikes!!
