I am plus sized too and having a hard time. I cannot find anything in Japan. This is SO not a plus sized friendly country.
I was going to order online but I too am scared about buying something without trying it on. And shipping to APP/FPO is like gambling, it may not even come in time!
One thing I have learned... Fitted actually makes you look smaller than buying something loose and trying to hide your size. Took me a long time to realize that.
Hopefully I will be ok waiting since I will be flying into CA. Just hoping I have enough time before we leave! We are taking a military flight from Japan to CA and seats aren't guaranteed. So we will have no idea what day we get to leave until the day we leave. Yikes!!
Thanks for the tip - I actually discovered that a couple of years ago. The other day my mother in law was trying to help me decide on a dress and kept pushing long gowns. I had to tell her no, that I am SO SHORT and fat that long dresses make me look even shorter and rounder! Seriously, taking away my legs just shortens an already short body (not quite 5'1"). I told her I typically need something WITH a waist line to give me a figure, having some kind of banding or something just under my chest is usually nice. But - it's all moot now, there's been a new development. Ryan found my old dress. I tried it on again and I HATE it. He said since we found the dress it's either that or skip formal night. He said he would rather save the money it would take to buy me a dress ($100 - $150 minimum) plus strapless bra ($50 minimum) plus shoes (god knows how much) and put it towards a possible upgrade the day of the sailing. He REALLY doesn't care about formal night! I told him it would be fun, they have formal Mickey and Minnie that we could take out picture with - but he really just doesn't care. He said my old dress or nothing.

I don't know, we will either skip it and eat elsewhere that night, or we will go but not go formal (I would just wear slacks and a top). Oh well. I was down on buying a dress at first but then I got excited about it. Too bad...
As for being in Japan, geesh, I couldn't imagine trying to shop for myself there! I really feel for you

On our last sailing people out of town mailed their FE gifts to someone who lived near the port and they just got their stuff from them at the first meet on the ship. If you want to buy something online but are scared because of the military address, you are welcome to use mine. I know it doesn't help you with being able to try it on ahead of time, but if you need to do this to make sure you have your dress - I'm fine with it. Just send me an email and I will give you my info. I can either have the cabin stewards deliver it to your room, or I can bring it to you that first day we board. Just let me know

About the military flights too - I'm scared for you. How many days ahead of time are you trying to board? I had clients once who booked a cruise through me but took military flights and it kept being delayed and delayed and they missed their cruise!! It's not a covered reason in insurance so they missed their cruise and they were out 100% of the money! Hopefully this doesn't happen to you - I REALLY hope you're able to make it onto a flight alright. Good luck with that!
Is it possible to add a late FE couple? Just dh and I. Will most likely get a late cabin assigned. We are FL res and just got off the dream last month with our kids and want to go again. We have participated in the FE gifts twice now and loved it. Let me know. Would love to be a part of it.

Never mind. This is MR cruise right? Was looking for FL.
Yes - this is the Mexican Riviera sailing over Halloween (10/28)
So everyone...what did I tell you?!? This is the THIRD person to ask me about FE who is NOT on our ship!!! What the heck?!? I REALLY don't understand how you get into the wrong cruise group. Odd. Very odd.
Everything is as in our original booking.

Ours too.
As a side note for everyone - I checked the
DCL website and it looks like almost every cabin category on inside, outside or balcony is STILL AVAILABLE! We've only been given a complimentary upgrade once - that year the ship was full and it was a last minute thing. The other times we've sailed they DIDN'T give comp upgrades - instead, they keep a list at the check-in desk of cabins available that you can PAY to upgrade to. It's not full price, but it is still a lot of money. If I remember correctly inside to ocean view was nearly $500 and a balcony was almost double that. They try and get the money last minute, which is why they weren't giving away comps. We told them we've sailed many times before and had been given a comp upgrade in the past and they said no - that if it was going to be done they would have done it, but that otherwise, you had to pay for it. It was a REAL bummer! I'm hoping with so many cabin categories still available that they can/will give us a comp upgrade the day of if we ask, but I doubt it. We'll just have to see. I wonder what will happen?
