MR October 28, 2012 "Halloween Time"

It looks like we're getting a prem"ear" at sea: Wreck It Ralph on Nov. 2!

We're very excited for this cruise - but because we aren't doing excursions, I think we have less stress about it. :)

We're also driving to the port - so no stress with flights (yay!). :thumbsup2

What does that mean? Do they do something special?

What does that mean? Do they do something special?

There's a theater on the cruise ship and when a Disney movie opens during a sailing, they premier the movie in the theater. The rest of the world gets to see it, and so do we! lol, the only difference is we don't have to pay! :thumbsup2 Basically, the movie opens 11/2 and since we'll be on the ship - they'll show it on the ship! :woohoo:

We ordered Lorelai's Halloween costume tonight - WooHoo! :woohoo: The picture is a little dark so I'll try and get a new one taken soon, but we can't wait to see her in it! Now we just have to find or make a trick or treat bag to match - maybe a basket that's a thimble or spool of thread?! I know she can't eat the candy, but hey - mommy can!

SOOOO much more excited now that we have her costume nailed down! Maybe she can win the baby costume contest!

She's going to be . . . Suzy Mouse from Cinderella!

HI EVERYONE!!! :wave2:
I just got back from Mexico yesterday. I went on a misson trip with my church and it was amazing. Weather was warm, evenings were cool, it was very nice! So glad to see people are starting to perk up around here :goodvibes

Wow, this is a super quiet group. I think I'm the only one really excited and obsessed with the cruise, lol. My last cruise's board was super busy. Oh well.
So my kids are 7 (daughter) and 5 (son).
I'm not sure if I will book a pedicure or not. The last cruise I indulged in a massage, and honestly, it was the best massage I have ever had. I didn't realize that they would have specials throughout the week, and I booked one early. I'm thinking I will wait and see if there are any specials that sound good to me.

I am bummed that I won't be dining at Palo this trip, but there is no way in hell that I will go there alone.

I highly recommend it to anyone reading this! Best $20 I ever spent! :thumbsup2

Anyway, I am so flipping excited! What time do you get to arrive at the port? We have a 11-11:30 check in time.

I am getting sooo excited!!! BTW I was a single mom and had I known about DCL then, I would have been doing it! I totally volunteer myself up for a Palo sesh with you! :goodvibes We would just have to book after we get onboard. If they will let me do a 3rd round I will go with you, or you can join me and hubby for brunch. Trust me, you won't be the third wheel, hubs is used to all my girlfriends :rotfl2:

I also chose the 11-11:30 check in time! We can't get on that ship fast enough!!

Is anybody doing anything at Puerto Vallarta? Im kinda interested in the Los Veranos zipline tour but was curious if anybody else was doin it....

If I didn't have my kids with me, I'd do it! But we are doing the Las Caletas one.

We are going to try to do the Las Caletas one as well because we have the kids too.

Is anybody dressing up for halloween? Coz i see that pirate night is different.

Just the kiddos

SOOOOO CUTE!!!!!

So I need to call DCL because I still cannot book anything. It says "cruise price $0" So IDK what the issue is. Hopefully they can fix it so I can book stuff. :scared:

I have decided to plan a scavenger hunt for the FE group!! It will be something you can work on all week, so you can take your time :) Kiddlette (if you would like to join this part you can :) )

eed some encouragement. I am just a little bit past half way point on sewing the fish extender. I am not a great sewer but I can manage my way through it. It’s a little bit more than I can chew. I am determined to finish it. So fair its cute and will be more than enough to get the job done. I am half way done with the quilting. Then I have to sew the pockets on and the binding. Then I can take a picture and show you my creation. My daughters help me pick out the color scheme and the artwork. We had fun in the creative process but the actual work is grueling. Specially since I work 60 works a week and take care of my mom and my own family. Talk about a chore. So please all send encouraging thoughts my way so I can accomplish this task. Then I can look forward to creating little gifts for all of you special people.

I also need to start looking for our costumes. Are the adults dressing up because I will be because this is my favorite holiday?

Thanks in advance

Thanks! We sure thought it was adorable! :)

I'd be curious to know what DCL says. Like I said though, I think you would have more luck contacting the radio station first. Chances are they haven't paid it yet...that happened a lot back when I was an agent. In fact, DCL might just tell you they don't know, to call the radio station. Let me know what happens, but I suggest you call them IMMEDIATELY! :scared1:

A scavenger hunt sounds SO FUN! I'll talk to Ryan about joining the FE group, maybe I can talk him into it. The FE we have is from before we had our daughter, so we'd need to get a new one. I'd also have to talk him into taking the time to deliver the gifts...but we'll see what I can do! This group is a lot smaller than our last one, so maybe he'd go for it. Great idea with the scavenger hunt! Have you thought of what your prize will be?

You are definitely braver than I! I would have ordered one and not made it, but making it yourself makes it more special. Just have patience, work on it slowly and it will work out! lol...if not you can always toss it and order one and no one would know :lmao:

As far as dressing up - we don't know if we're dressing up or not. Lets face it, adult costumes are EXPENSIVE! If we can afford it we might, but right now it looks like only Lorelai will be dressed up.

Oh yeah - we did our check-in and got the 11:00 - 11:30 slot as well! :woohoo: I think Palo bunch is day 2 or 3 and Palo dinner is night 5. It's all coming together. We're getting excited! :cheer2:

Just 80 Days Left Until we sing "hey baby" and sail on down to mexico!

Still working out the kinks in regards to the Fish Extenders, I will keep you all posted :cool1:

I am sure you are doing awesome! :thumbsup2 I could never get a job like that done because I have OCD with projects and it would never be perfect. I've had my FE forever now LOL I ordered it at the beginning of the year. LOL I was just a tad excited :rotfl2:

We won't be dressing up for the same reason as Kidlette, the adult costumes are just too expensive. We will be dressing up both boys though :)

Thanks! We sure thought it was adorable! :)

So I was able to call yesterday and I had to stay on hold for about 10 minutes, they said I didn't have a balance, but that a supervisor had to manually do it. So because I was so on the spot, I only booked Las Caletas (P.V. port) Palo and nursery time to match it. There is a slight chance we might swap my nephew for my little guy, but its unlikely. They let me book a 3 hr block for palo too. I thought you could only book in 2 hr blocks. This was refreshing to know! However I booked Palo for day 2 or 3--but we booked it after our normal dinner service, so we could enjoy animators if it worked that way. We can eat, so we can do both dinners--eating light for the 1st one with the kids & then splurging in Palo LOL :rotfl2: I saw right away that the ressies for both were visible online, but she put the last 30 min increment on the wrong day, so that needs to be fixed. I told them I would call back for other ressies. I am going to look at my other navigators from sept and use that as a guide. (I don't have a scanner or I'd share) I don't think I am going to book anything else except more nursery time so hubs and I can get some alone time

I also got an email this morning saying that the cruise isn't paid off and won't be till Oct 1st!! I guess I just have to do the manual ressies.

I was thinking of having a participation prize for every family and then a "Winner" prize. I found the scavenger hunt here on the DIS (SO NO CHEATING ANYONE!! :rotfl:) and it has to be scored, so the person with the highest score wins. I am thinking that I will pass out the participation prize to everyone when they turn it in, then I will hand deliver the "grand prize" to their FE.

Again I am so new to this, what other activities or meet ups do you think we should incorporate?

I was thinking maybe a girls coffee date at cove?? I don't want to shun the guys out though.

Just 80 Days Left Until we sing "hey baby" and sail on down to mexico!

It really feels like its around the corner!! I can't believe its almost here. We almost did the April sailing instead of this one, but I am so glad we chose this one! A Halloween we will never forget!!!

Thanks for the encouragement. I know its right around the corner. I am very excited. Then I have to start thinking about the gift exchange. AHHH

Girls Coffee sounds like a great idea. I like the idea. Guys can totally fend for themselves. Not like there is not stuff todo.

My family loves the scavenger hunt. We did one on the Celebraty cruise in Alaska. We had so much fun. We could barely keep up with the kids running from one place to another trying to find things.

I can't wait until the cruise. I am getting totally excited.

Hm. That doesn't make sense to me. Final payment date is way before Oct. 1st, but at least you got it figured out. Good luck with all of it!

There is generally a meet on the first day. Whomever arranges the FE group usually arranges the meet and coordinates the receiving and passing-on of any FE cabins that are changed or assigned last minute.

I'm torn on the girls coffee date. Sounds fun but (a) I don't drink coffee and (b) I don't really want to be away from my little one more than we've already arranged to be. I know, I know, most mom's say that there will come a day where you can't wait to have time away from your kids, but for me, I'm not there yet. My little one is only 6.5 months old and I don't want to be away from her. The spa, palo brunch, and palo dinner are enough for me. I will think about it though and get back to you :thumbsup2

Anyone want to arrange something where husbands, wives, and kids can be there? Any thoughts on what that could be?

Guys are totally diff from women & I think they would feel pressured if they had a guys meet up. I think we will let them roll with the punches and they can choose to do a meet up to watch some sports or shoot some hoops lol.

I have an idea for my FE gift :) I am pretty excited about.

We have begun potty training over here!! DS initiated a sucessful trip to the potty. I am hoping he's potty trained by the sailing! :) It was much different with my older DS so I am not quite sure how this round will go.

Isn't it weird with the Oct 1st final payment? I thought final payment was due 60 days out. She mentioned something about auditing, but still is weird with DCL saying balance was fine. Very weird. The email was from DCL promotions. Either way I need to schedule everything, including our meet ups.

We had the rule for my last FE that anyone who changed cabins last min/upgraded at port had the responsibility to notify the other cabins themselves, I.e. slip a paper under everyones door. This actually happened to us because our room got flooded. Is everyone comfortable with that rule? I don't mind helping if needed.

Our initial meet would be 3:05p.m in the Promenade Lounge. This works for anyone who would like to attend the raffel at the spa (great prizes!)

Kidlette -the baby can come, I'm sure no one minds. I totally understand wanting to spend all your time with her. I was very much like that with my first. Plus she's super cute! You can grab a smoothie/or drink of choice. Very much not limited to just coffee :) Same applies to anyone else that may not be a coffee drinker.

I was thinking maybe doing family board games in either Promenade or Diversions, what do you think? The kids could play with each other and so could the adults, or a mixture of families as well.

Jessica,
I'd really love to join you for a Palo brunch if you're serious. How would I do that? I could book it on my end and just ask to sit with you?
What time and day are you going?
Thanks!

So I called up today to book brunch and its SOLD OUT :( I think the easiest solution is to book when we board. We have the earliest check in and last time we did this and got a ressie no prob :thumbsup2 Unless you can book ressie online, I can only do it through the telephone. I had to wait on hold for 15 minutes too :guilty: But you are 100% welcome to join us or we'd love to joing you!! Its always fun meeting new friends :goodvibes We will just touch bases closer to sail on our actual strategy. I HAVE to have brunch!! :bitelip: :rotfl:

pm me on what days work for you

Shoshie- I have not seen halloween navi's yet

I think a family board game night sounds super fun! Thanks also for the offer to bring Lorelai to The Cove, I'll think about it. I'm not sure how I feel about leaving Ryan, especially since I'm already doing the spa. Normally I wouldn't hesitate so much but this IS our 1st family vacation AND our anniversary...so leaving him doesn't feel right. Plus, isn't The Cove adults only? I'm 99% sure it was on our last sailing. Would they even let Lorelai in?

lol, my husband is soooo not a "watch some sports" or "shoot some hoops" kind of guy, but that's alright.

Good luck with the potty training!! Obviously Lorelai is too little for that, but we're super excited to see where's she's at and what she's doing come the cruise! She started standing ON HER OWN at 6 months...before she even crawled! She holds onto things and woop - up on her feet she goes! :cool1: So Exciting! She started crawling in the last couple of weeks. Who knows, maybe by the cruise she'll be taking steps if we hold her hand! :confused3

I'm trying to track down navigators for last year's Halloween cruise. If anyone has any - please post.

Sorry, I couldn't find a Halloween one but I did find a normal Mexico one. I know it doesn't help for the Halloween schedule, but at least people who've never seen a Navigator can see one and get an idea of it. Here they are . . .
Day 1 pirate: Day 2 pirate: Day 3 pirate: Day 4 pirate: Day 5 pirate: Day 6 pirate: Day 7

I feel so dumb, but how do I PM you? I can still make a reservation on my end. I was going to do it for maybe day 3? Or? What are you thinking? Definitely not a port day.

You are totally right!! I forgot cove is adults only :rotfl2: silly me, I WAS just there last year. My hubby is also out of the norm, yea he watches sports, but he will choose hanging with the family vs watching the sports. It was hard, but he was able to give up cable so we could save money. So he hardly watches sports now. He's not the type to go out and watch sports somewhere else, i.e. friends house or a sports bar. He'd rather be home with us. :goodvibes

Thats so exciting with the crawling! I love when they learn to move & groove! My niece is almost 7 months and I was lucky enough to catch her crawling at my house for the first time <3 Now she is all over the place! She's so cute to watch. Its crazy how fast it all goes by. I totally understand you wanting to spend every moment with her, this is when so much happens!!

Jason (little DS) starting doing the cutest thing. He grabs my stuff and says "It's cuuuuute" and puts it on. Its so cute to her him say it!
