MR January 29 2012- Who's in?

Does any one know how good the shopping is in the ports?

I was also wondering about the Lakewood Center near Long Beach. Has anyone ever been there? Was thinking of checking it out next Thur. WOOHOO I said NEXT. LOL...

For those of you asking about the ship staying in Cabo over night, we were told last year that it has to leave because of the tide. It can get quite choppy in the area around Cabo when the tide comes in (or goes out... whichever). Also they do fireworks the first night they visit Cabo so they need to go back out to sea/international waters to do that.
We were also told IF you miss the boat you technically could get back on the next day BUT it is not unheard of for the ships to not be able to tender in Cabo if the waters are rough, leaving people with no way to return to the ship. I don't think I would want to risk it.

We took a water taxi down to Medano beach and walked uphill to the big mall. i love to browse and couldn't pass up the chance to shop in a Mexican mall. It was cool but won't do it again this time.
This time we are going to walk to an open-air market that some friends recommended. I am not quite sure if it has a name, and I don't quite know where it is so I am not much help. Last time we were quite happy to walk a long the pier and shop in all the little flea-market type places but the stuff was all the same in every one.

I have 2 days left of work and then 5 days to get my butt in gear so we can leave on Saturday. I am so excited :)

Lakewood Mall used to be really nice, but I haven't been since we moved in 2008. Last time I was there it was still cool and I'm sure it hasn't changed. Nice family community. I may be going that way on next Friday myself. That area is my old stomping ground. You may also check out Cerritos Mall which is a little further east but also a good mall with more high end stores like Nordstroms. Or further east is South Coast Plaza very high end mall. One of my absolute favorite malls to go to

Thanks for the info re Cabo and the overnight - that all makes perfect sense!

I haven't started packing yet either - that is this weekend!

It is in the single digits Fahrenheit here - I am quite ready for some warm sunshine!

I agree South coast Plaza is very nice. I am a shopper of necessity not for enjoyment but my preference would be
1. South coast Plaza
2. Cerritos Mall
3. Lakewood

How is this for anxiety inducing. Getting together our birth certificates for our kids and realizing that we don't have one for our youngest. :D

Needless to say the wife picked one up today.

So..we got a couple of inches of snow yesterday...and sleet and more snow tonight...(they say like 2 degrees..feels like its 50 below out there with the wind!)YEP...I'm sooooo ready for our trip!! I have our FE's ready and 11 year old finishing bagging them up...glad I bought extras as our list grew near the end-lol! Just need to get a couple adult things and I'm done!! That was fun!! I can't wait to meet all of you-my 11 yr old son would like to find someone to hang out with as I'm sure he won't want to hang out with his 5 year old twin brother and sister..lol...and I would love to go to the adult movie/comedy shows if anyone wants someone to go with!!

My oldest daughter is 11, totally not a girly-girl... Big Harry Potter fan. Don't know how they would get along, but you never know.

Hey Pizzieduster, do you know if you can see the ship sale from the Mexican restaurant over there? I think it is Alcapulco. We are thinking about going to the Aquarium then over for a margarita in time to see the Wonder sail. It sails at 4 right? This sounds like fun!!!!

Sorry Magic Mornings, just saw this... Yes there is the Alcapulco there. I'm still thinking of going their this Sunday to watch the ship sail away.

I'm in! I'm traveling with my mom, who watches my Dnephew5 and tells me to go ahead and do what I want to do in the evenings. She'll stay in the cabin with the kids. :thumbsup2 We should meet so at least we can spot each other to sit with! :woohoo:

We are going to the meet and greet for sure on Sunday!!

I know...I watched that, too!! What are they trying to do to us???

Well from all the times they said the name Carnival I'm guessing they're just trying to keep us from taking them. Not to worried about drunken fights though on this cruise though.

Just finished watching the ABC 20/20 show. Two days ago, the original Poseidan movie was on. Two days before that Titanic. And now this. What I would give to watch the Justin Bieber movie right now. :lmao::lmao: Lighten things up you know?:banana:

I'm going to the port on Sunday to watch the sail away and take pictures of the ship for my scrap book. I'm so excited! :dance3::dance3:

We went last Sunday and it was totally worth it. I'm not sure if we will do it again as I haven't started packing or organizing my piles of fe stuff. My older son also has a ton of homework so we will see. The ship sailed about 5:30 last week.

The parking lot on the far side of Alcapulco was a good spot. We were able to park on the waters edge so my younger son could stay dry in the car since it rained here last Sat too. I can't complain about the weather after reading earlier posts. I have to admit I have never even been in the cold that some of you live in, burrr! BTW the margaritas are so so but as expected.

Hope you get to go.

We are definitely in for some adult-only time too! We loved going to Wavebands and watching the nightly act. We've also spent many hours in Diversions enjoying a quiet late night drink. Thank goodness for the kids clubs... They kept our youngest until 11:30 almost every night!

With all the talk of the extended open house hours in the clubs on the Wonder, I am a little nervous that Mackenzie will be stuck in the lab, when she wants to be in the club, and visa versa. I am more than happy to go supervise her, but I have 5 kids on this boat, and I can't be at her beck and call. Anyone nervous about this? Since it's our first cruise, I have nothing to compare it too, so I'm sure I'll be happy with whatever:goodvibes

I don't think this hasn't been asked yet on our thread. What are your dining times?

We are late dining, this way we can eat and catch the adult shows. We are in for adult time and having a quiet late night drink.
