MR January 29 2012- Who's in?

We are late dining too! They say they take the kids to the kids club for you from the dining room right after the meal-that is great! My son went on an Alaskan Cruise and I couldn't get him out of the kids areas! I'm sure they wil have so much fun during the day with us and shows and movies that they will be happy to spend some time in there at night...

Where is everyone staying before the cruise (besides the California folks-lol) We are at the Crown Plaza..any others?? Maybe we could meet up for dinner or something the night before??

I still have to arrange to get me there from the airport...for 4 is it best to use Super Shuttle??

We are staying at the doubletree inn. We are leaving on Tuesday, will spend a few days in Vancouver then off to LA on Saturday.

Roxanne, we are Alberta bound on Feb 28th.

Oh, Congratulations Janice!!! Next time we head down to Calgary we'll have to make a pit stop to stop in and say HI! That must be very exciting for you :)

We have early dining... We had late dining last year. We weren't crazy about it because we always had a big gap in between the show and dinner and didn't ever quite settle in to finding anything to do then. I'll admit we didn't try too hard though. Since we've seen the shows already, this time we can experience some of the family games etc that they run in the evening.
If we had been only given the choice of late dining I would have been okay with it, the dine and dash thing was very nice. But be sure to tell your server as soon as you sit down that your kids will be partaking. Otherwise there is no way they will be ready.

We are staying at Doubletree. We get in on Saturday afternoon. We plan to settle in, make a very much anticipated marathon trip to the very nice San Pedro Target (for which an extra suitcase is required!!) and then go for dinner and settle in for a night of games with the kids. 7 sleeps!!

Early dining for us. Figured it would work better with the kids and our time change.

Staying at the Comfort Inn Long Beach. We decided to book Super Shuttle for all our shuttle needs. To get from Long Beach to Port for 4 of us with tips is about $42.00.

We leave Thursday! Staying in Long Beach for a couple nights and our plan is to do NOTHING! Dh begged me to let this be a "real" vacation, so he could relax. I canceled all our SoCal plans and booked a two bedroom suite literaly on the beach. They rent bikes at the hotel, and there's a bike path that goes behind it all the way to several beaches.
As for dining, we have early, and plan to see all the shows. OH! I had two dresses made for Mackenzie, a Belle and a Cinderella. They came in today and are soooo beautiful, I want one for me:lmao:
Macylea had a big wrestling tourny today and did fantastic, but she has a black and purple bruise down to her chin...I hope its gone by next week :goodvibes however they think she dislocated the guys shoulder she pinned, so I guess she got of easy

Long Beach is a very bike friendly town. They have recently added bike only lanes and have tons of bike paths. You will be able to get around downtown LB very easy with bikes. Enjoy your relaxing vacation.

We have second dining but don't know how it is going to work for us with the time change - it will probably help keep us up for the adult entertainment! Coming from the Eastern time zone may be a killer.

We fly in Saturday, staying at the Crowne Plaza - haven't made transportation arrangements yet from LAX to hotel. We were just talking tonight about SuperShuttle, limos.com, or taxi. Since we arrive around noon and it is just the two of us, we'll probably just use SuperShuttle.

I'm wondering about setting up return transportation from the port to LAX. For those that have to fly, what are you doing?

I'm so excited for everyone leaving this week and then spending the night before at hotels by the port! :thumbsup2

I'm dragging my DH and DD13 to watch the Wonder sail away tomorrow. I've also got to find a meeting place to meet my mom. She's driving from Simi Valley (LA) and I'm coming from Orange County.

Power shopped today! It was wonderful buying sun screen while it rained a little today!:laughing:

I can't believe 3 more sleeps till we leave for LB. I was planning on not planning much but it didn't turn out that way :cool1: We could actually use a few more days. But I figure the plan are loosely planned and I won't get upset if anything falls through. I figure our first day we'll be getting in very late so we'll just be going to bed when we get in. Next day we'll just hang out with the kids and let them lead how the day will go. That is until about 3 or so and then we'll head up out to do some shopping and have dinner. Fri. we're going to head into the city and try the hop on hop off tour. Sat. we're going to try to get to the Aquarium of the Pacific.

:love: I know what you're saying about the princess dresses. Florie has a carry on case just for all the dresses. My sister made her an amazing Cinderella dress for Christmas. I picked up a crystal headband from one of the bridal shops to surprise her with on the cruise. I was going to give it to her for Christmas but I found a really sweet letter by one of the DISigners on here that is 'from' Cinderella. So I was thinking I'd leave it in the stateroom with the letter for her to find.

I still haven't started packing and we leave Thursday afternoon. I'm shooting for getting on the road by 3:00 which will get us there around 9ish. We're staying in Torrance at Staybridge Suite got a great deal on Hotwire. I can't settle down to pack.

This time next we'll be getting ready to head to there pier

DH and I decided to start packing since we surely don't need those summer shirts right now. Found clothing for formal night, pirate night, excursions... I think a new swimsuit is in order, and definitely need some sort of sweater. Good excuse to go shopping. :). I originally thought we each could take our own carry on and be self contained, but I really don't know if I can fit everything in a carry on suitcase for a DCL cruise! I can pack for business for a week in a carry on, but this is a challenge! To carry on or to check baggage, that is the question of the day...

We are thinking of watching the ship sail tonight. So if you see me, DW, and two DS's (5&2) who look just like me, DF, say hello. Thinking of eating at Alcapulco about 5-ish. Or PM me!

Could I trouble one of you to ask Snow White and Peter Pan if they were on the PC WB cruise last January and if they'll be on the Hawaiian cruise this April?

Thank you

Tony

Oh I wish I would have seen this sooner! We were there at the Ports Of Call Restaurant. With no one else :) I had my Mickey hand from our cruise last January. I thought it was great that it was warm and sunny and just about the time they sailed away, typically, it got over cast and chilly. But the time the ship was at port it was warm and in the sun!!

We, or, I mean, I was there waving my Mickey hand and heard yells and whistles. It's amazing, as it passed by, I could hear the announcement about dining, etc. We also heard the horn twice. Once when they left and once when they were coming passed the restaurants.

:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3: Watched it sail away, knowing that when they come back, we will be boarding and it will be our turn!

Oh, the Wonder looked so beautiful sailing away...:cloud9:[/QUOTE

I <3 this

So close and yet so far! So close to going and to far from getting everything packed. I actually thought of adding another suitcase to the mix. But I can't get myself to get up to 5 large. I'm a crazy packer. I figure though I do have a day and a bit before we have to fly home after the cruise so if I do to much shopping I can always buy another one for the flight home.

I know that 4 large suitcases must seem like a lot but we're gone for 2 weeks and there are so many extras to take with us like FE, formal wear and cold and hot clothing. Thank God we booked the classic tickets with Frontier. So I can push it up to 6 if we need it. :lmao: Now that would be some serious shopping.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

No! So normal. I know I'm taking 4 - 2 me, 2 DD13, with one of those FE gifts etc. Even though I say do not over pack, I over pack. It's just me! :wizard:

I have two large cases, but I'm going to have to add a garment bag, because with 8 of us, we have 6 formals and 10 suits....I can't squeeze that into the bag! I ALWAYS get by with two suitcases for the 8 of us, but between pirate night, formal and semi formal night and FE's I just can't do it this time. I could if I made each kid bring a carry on, but I hate dealing with all those carry on's. I usually have each one bring a backpack full of toys, books and games, then DH carries one with snacks...Our flights usually end up taking about 20 hours of travel time, so we pack a TON of snacks. This time we only have 9 hours of travel time, so I won't need as much food. I guess it's still possible to do my two bags.... So anyone else make thier FE? I had so much fun making ours, and BTW I do not sew, don't expect much :) but it was fun
