MR BACK's Back!

Hi all!

First of all, Prayers and Pixie Dust to all those suffering from Hurricane Katrina

Cheeringmom Please check in ASAP...I'm so worried about you!! :guilty:

...and Oddball That goes for you too! :(

Lewski Love, love, love the pic of you and Tye :cloud9: Got any of you and Grant to share, or Tye and Grant, or just Tye, or just Grant or any ol pics at all...I just love looking at pics...especially of really cute people :goodvibes

Geffric Hope you had a great birthday weekend! :cake: Dinner is chocolate chip cookies in your honor tonight! ;) :p

NC Belle Where are those photos you promised?? :earsgirl: :earsboy: :dog2:

Castlegazer Are you still away on another of your wonderful weekend jaunts?

I know I've had a busy beginning of the week but where the heck is everyone else? :confused3

Just a quick pop in.

Cadburysmom---those pictures...maybe in the next couple of days.

Those who are concern about Birmingham area (I think Oddball lives NE about half of hour)---mostly high winds from what I was told. I'm so sadden by Mobile's condition as well as MS and LA (some distant extended family may still live around and some of my aunt's in-laws may be affected). I'm been busy tonight trying to see where my folks are since one of my uncles needed to talk to my Mom. They might be in GA and spending extra time with Dad's sisters. My Dad's older sister was suppose to go home today, but I think she has to do delay or reroute her car trip home since some of the major roads are closed in MS and LA (she lives in TX).

I found out that Knoxville, TN area schools are out around our trip in October.

Well, today I found out that my new hairstyle is perfect for wet rides like Kali---we got caught in a major downpour after buying a full gocery cart. Our house did not get too wet (we went shopping 8 miles away). Poor NC Beast---he got drenched from head to toe and decided that we should do Kali Rapids this trip.:rotfl:

:paw: My folks made it home after a long drive home (I think maybe 12 or more hours). I had to warned them about some of the news coverage. Dad lived in Mobile for a couple of years as a young teen---Grandaddy was with the Air Force (prior to the AF [I think he was a civillian worker toward the end of his working days], Granddaddy was a Seabee in the Navy during WWII).

My TX aunt and uncle had to drive way out of the way through TN to go home to San Antonio. My TX aunt is tired from all of the wedding activities (she is fighting cancer with much success). She has prepared a notebook with some old photos and some family history plus some glass decoration that was either my Grandma's or Great-Grandma's. I get those things when I go north to see my folks during the holiday season.

Cadburysmom-- My Mom is sending some photos this week (Dad finally got a cool digital camera). I have to upload what I have already.

Hey everyone!

Oddball is fine. She PM'd me, they didn't have much damage. Just limbs down, etc.

NC Belle, when are you going in October? Schools here have fall break, too. We went last year during fall break & the parks were hoppin'!

Morning.. just a quick hi... I have lots of work to do today...

Glad that some one checked on Oddball and that NC B's parent made it home safely.

I am assuming that CMOM will ckeck in when is back home.. c'mon CMOM let us know..

Nice to see ya Chocolatesista.. how's school at your end?

Be back ...

I'm sorry. I am sick

. Catrina got it Sunday night then I got it Monday night.

I am just horrified too at the destruction. I have been unable to really surf here because I spent my time monday just looking and looking for news and information. Now we have too much. I am just horrified - I know I said that already, but man, can you guys just imagine? I keep thinking about everything that is gone and for some reason I keep coming back to the Garden District and Anne Rice's home - I know that is nothing comparatively, but it gives me a good image of just how much history and lives have been utterly wiped off the face of the earth.

I hope CMom is OK. I am super glad oddball is safe. NCBelle, I hope all your family is fine.

Lewski, I know you looked faaahhhbulous in the photo.

He suggests that if you all want to be lushes...then Wolfgang Puck's (Cafe or upstairs) then PI afterwards. [/QUOTE]

I can totally second this idea. The best night and most romantic night my husband and I have spent down in WDW was when we ate at the Dining Room of Wlfgang Pucks (we had apps first over at Bongos with Mojitos), we watched the sunset while eating and then went over to PI. We had awesome drinks and went to the Comedy Club and then off to the Jazz Club for desert and some great music. It was really a great night that we can't wait to recreate once the kiddos are old enough for babysitting clubs.

Y thanks!

I'll never be eating there again, unless they bring back what has been taken away (except the rice). I loved the beans and shrimps. :(
You *may* be in luck.
The Garden Grill recently changed it's menu, to HORRIBLE reviews of the new one. AllEars.net is now reporting they've gone back to the OLD menu! ::yes:: Good! I LIKED the old menu! :)

Hopefully they'll see the error of their ways with Ohana, too. MIL could be talked into eating there any day of the week....shrimp is her favorite! PLUS, she would pick up the tab! So nice!

My family has a way of networking calls---so far everyone who might have been in harm's way is safe as far as we can tell. I have a lot of extended family on both of my parents sides in addition to being close to my aunt/godmother's in-laws who at one time lived mostly in LA/MS...but, it seems that a lot of people moved to TN.

Cadburysmom---gas at Sheetz stations seem to be cheapest in the area--- this morning: $2.69 for regular unleaded...2.89-2.99 at other stations along Capital BLVD, Millbrook, and 64 from Beltine up past Knightdale---maybe also rt.70.

Kadaten-- We arriving early 10/20 and leaving late afternoon 10/26. We have been in crowds at WDW during our honeymoon (pre-fastpass). I should have scheduled my birthday. I tried to invite one of my uncles last night because he was trying to plan his birthday getway a week early (he was thinking Vegas).

NC Belle :) So glad to hear your family is all safe... and thanks for the gas price update...still can't believe those prices! :faint:

Castlegazer :( Sorry you and sweet Catrina have been sick...sending PD in hopes you feel better soon :wizard:

Deadheadbelle Glad to know our dear Oddball is ok! ::yes::

Kadaten Your MIL sounds like my kind of dinner companion ;) :p

Geffric 6th grade is going well...no tests yet so we'll just have to wait and see :smooth: How about your guys?

Cheeringmom Prayers and pixie dust to you wherever you may be!!!

Me too. It's really sad. I hate seeing it and today was the first time. :(

Lewski, I know you looked faaahhhbulous in the photo.
I always knew I liked you. ;) Thank you, really.

Hmffffffffff.... did someone have a nice birthday and forget to mention it? :confused3

Hi, I'm home safe and sound. Had a great time....it was HOT (but not as hot as the weather I left behind)! While there I did an 'owner's update' at the time share....45 minutes and $100 DISNEY DOLLARS LATER.....::yes:: So the whole 5 night trip cost me about $60 gas and $120 spending money. I think that qualifies for my cheapest vacation ever! Had a blast showing my friend DCA....TOT has replaced Indy as her favorite thrill ride....but Soarin' blew her away!

Gotta ketchup......I'll be back in the morning....I can't seen any avatars, signature pics or posted pics.....so I'll have to come back to see the Lovely Lewski snaps.

Those are some pretty little boys but it is about that dog.........is that a bulldog??? bawwhahahaaa

Hey guys, just checking in to say HI and that we are safe. Unfortunately many of our friends are missing in Mississippi. We have no way to find out if they are ok. My husband grew up West of Biloxi in Pass Christian and it is pretty much leveled. He feels so helpless. He wants to go and help but leaves for a 45 day tour to Egypt on Sunday. So we are under a lot of stress. I have been making preperations for friends to come and stay with us-if we can find them. Please keep them in your prayers. I know you are!!

LEW love the pics. I also had a "hillbillie slip and slide" growing up. The best kind!

glad you are back safe and sound IBOUNCE. Wish I could have gone with you!! And what a bargain trip!!

Castlegazer, hope you and Katrina are well.

Thanks for the concern our own PP CADSMOM. You are a sweetie!!

Off to search again for names of friends. I've found a lot of web sites with boards for looking for loved ones. It is sooooo sad.

:grouphug: Oh, cheeringmom! I'm so sorry to hear about your friends missing. :(

But we are ecstatic to hear that you and yours are safe and sound! ::yes:: We'll keep them all in our thoughts and prayers....please keep us updated.

One of DH's petty officer's parents were hit pretty hard in Fairhope, AL, but are ok. The house is flooded and has trees through the roof. The poor kid was practically out of his mind with worry, so DH pushed through some emergency leave for him, got him a grant from Navy Relief, took up a collection at the office for him, and got him a rental car to go help them (kid has no credit card so we had to use ours). Another office mate handed over her generator for him to take to his parents. They stuffed the car with coolers for ice, gas cans, and bottled water before putting him on the road yesterday. When he called last night to say he'd arrived safely, we were all a bit teary on both ends of the phone. :( But with all the awful images and news of looters on the tv, it was nice to see a group pull together like that to help one of their own. :)

Hoping you hear some good news soon....

Cheeringmom Thank goodness you're ok!!! :goodvibes :Pinkbounc
I was worried sick about you....and doesn't surprise me at all that you'd open your home to others...you're so sweet and giving...I hope you get in contact with your friends soon...sending prayers and PD that they are out of harm's way :wizard:

Thanks. I figured the kids would have fun and let's face it, visquine is cheap and handy, like duct tape. ;)
