Mr. and Mrs. Weak Sauce Go the Distance (a completed Disneymoon TR!)

The lockout chamber presentation is really cool! I have never managed to catch it from start to finish. It's always already halfway done.

I love the Seas. It is just a pretty and relaxing area in my opinion. I just have such a hard time spending too much time there when we have just a great aquarium near us at home!

In June, we had the end rooms, second floor, right behind the thick of that farthest right tree. From the balcony, we looked down to the right at people over by the fire pit and all across the plain at giraffes, zebras, ankole cattle, and crowned cranes. You will recognize it all very clearly from the opposite angle when we get to that part in the report.

Love The Seas pictures, except for the diver ones. Had to scroll quickly through those.

What I wouldn't give to be walking around World Showcase right now. I so enjoyed those pictures. I will have to get a picture of the Hidden Mickey on the fish next time. I didn't know about that one.

Thanks for providing a nice break in the middle of a busy, busy day.
We have Meet the Teacher Night tonight, so I am putting the finishing touches on the room for the next hour until I have to be at another meeting.
Your pictures made my lunch break extra happy! :wizard:

I've never seen the diver in the tube demonstration before! How cool-- I didn't even know about it.

yay, I think I'm on the scoreboard now. :cool1:

I've never seen the diver lock out chamber, thanks for sharing. It's fun to watch but I wouldn't want to trade places with that CM.

Don't you feel smarter now?

I do - thanks! I have never seen that Diver segment before. Sounds pretty cool.

Enjoyed all the pictures you took thanks to your fascination with giant clam mobiles and other aquatic life.

I've gotten behind on your TR, but am going to try to catch up.

Hi Rachel!

I'm behind on your TR and don't even know where I left off, but wanted to pop in to say hi!

I need to get back to my TR reading one of these days!!:rolleyes1

Well, I'm joining in really, really, really late, but I've read the entire thing now and hopefully I stay caught up from now!

I know I wouldn't have purposely gone to watch it either if it was halfway done, but it just worked out that we were there at the right time! It's definitely worth a watch though, and I would very much like my own kids to experience it too!

Ooo, it would make sense if to spend more time in your aquarium and enjoy the other things Epcot has to offer! Even if we had a great aquarium here, I wouldn't really want to be there though, haha. Still too afraid of sea animals.

Great pics! :)

Thanks!

Oh wow, that must have been such a view! I can't imagine being able to see that out your window.

Whoops! Didn't think the diver in the tube would be reminiscent of toys in a plastic bag or a Mickey head in a balloon! I totally see that now!

I think it'd be so much fun to take the Hidden Mickey book around World Showcase, but I've never taken the time. Probably so much more that I'm missing!

You're welcome! I'm glad that my TR can provide a bit of a break for you. Hope to continue doing that with some more updates soon! The next one is already written.

I've never seen the diver in the tube demonstration before! How cool-- I didn't even know about it.

It's definitely something to watch at least once! I love all the opportunities to learn.

Yup, you are on the scoreboard! I went back to look and didn't realize I didn't add your name so I fixed that once I saw your comment.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't be able to deal with that small amount of space if I were the diver! I wouldn't even want to dive in a big area either, haha. Just not my thing.

I do - thanks! I have never seen that Diver segment before. Sounds pretty cool.

It definitely is! It's one thing to read about the information that's learned here; it's a totally different experience to see it!

Haha, yes, ride vehicles including giant clams are a big interest of mine!

Hope you were able to catch up because I THINK I'll start being more regular with posting again!

Hi Rachel!

I'm behind on your TR and don't even know where I left off, but wanted to pop in to say hi!

Hi Ann! Glad you're here! I fall behind on TRs too and have a ton bookmarked. Hope you have the time to read whenever you have the chance!

Well, I'm joining in really, really, really late, but I've read the entire thing now and hopefully I stay caught up from now!

Absolutely fine by me even if you're "really late." I don't think it's ever too late to jump on a TR. I'm super glad you're here!

Park Hopping to SWW Like Cool Kids

I'd say it's about time to get some trip report updates done, don't you think? I spent a good part of the weekend feeling kind of sick for some reason. I don't quite know why, but it got worse on Saturday night when I was hit with such nausea that I needed Howard to get the garbage can for me just in case. Thankfully, there was no need for it, but I was still so nauseous in the morning that I couldn't go to church. I just stayed home and slept until 1:30 while Howard was at church. Of course, considering we're married now, the first thought that comes to my head is, "Oh my gosh, we're pregnant." I just think it's funny that I think that when I used to get nauseous all the time starting in college. My first thought should be stomach-related things or reflux issues, but I think zebras instead of horses all the time when I hear those hoofbeats.

Moving on to some lovely DISNEY memories! Looking back, I am so grateful that I did not feel sick at all during our Disneymoon! I know people say that they'd rather be sick in Disney than sick at home, but I am the complete opposite. Let me be home! I don't want to waste Disney days! Like THIS day when we were leaving Epcot for DHS! By the way, I just realized now that I posted the last 2 updates in the incorrect order. Nemo should have been before walking through the World Showcase! Don't know how that happened. But anyway, the boat had just arrived, so we had perfect timing!

I was extremely excited to be taking the boat because (1) we were tired and wanted to sit even though I know it's also possible to walk from Epcot to DHS, (2) it was a completely new experience for the both of us that we were only able to do since we had those awesome annual passes, and (3) I was with my HUSBAND. Look at that cute face!

We couldn't leave right away, but that was fine because I was taking in all the scenery. Look, there's France, the one pavilion that we never seem to explore. Ever. Seriously, I don't know anything about the place except what I've seen in pictures. Haha, and the attack of that gargoyle in Kingdom Keepers.

I also was interested in seeing ALL the captains that were there at the dock. Here's a random tangent for ya. Just a few weeks ago, I had jury duty and everyone who was in the waiting room had to go to the courthouse to see if we could serve on the jury of a criminal case. I was called as potential juror #4 in the first lot and had to sit in the box! It was so strange to be sitting up there, and I was nervous! In short, the evidence was going to be a lot of testimony from police officers, and the judge and lawyers explained how their testimony should have the same weight as anyone else and asked if anyone had a problem with that. I raised my hand and said that I did because I immediately think that what the cop says has more weight due to the uniform. Another girl said the same thing because her father was a retired cop. My mom raised me to respect those in authority. Plus, so many of my students have parents who are in NYPD and FDNY even as lieutenants and sergeants, and at school we sometimes have an NYPD/FDNY appreciation day where they come with their mobile command units, bomb squad equipment, dogs, horses, robots. I can't help how I feel! The lawyers seemed to think less of me because I thought that way and had even said things that were a bit demeaning about how we can't think certain things just because someone has a "shiny badge." What a crazy world we live in where I can be made to feel stupid for respecting those are in respectable positions! I wasn't chosen to be on that jury, of course, but I didn't mind that at ALL. ANYWAY, all that to say, yes, I know that these boat captains don't have the same authority as a police officer or firefighter, but I looked at these guys and were like, "Ooo, they're so cool!" Wow, that was quite a tangent and a bit unrelated. I'm gonna leave it in there anyway because I wrote it, haha.

I thought the boat was pretty spacious, but of course, this was before we made the next stop where more people hopped on board with us.

Soon we were off! I was really curious to see where exactly we were going. I knew we were going to see the Boardwalk, and it was the one thing I've seen SO many pictures of but have never seen it in real life.

The fact that there was still so much smoke from the fire we had seen while walking in World Showcase kind of made the area not as picturesque as it usually is.

VIDEO: Friendship Boat-ing
It's funny how on this boat the captain tells everyone to remain seated until the boat comes to a complete stop whereas we all get up to walk to the front of the boat when the ferry docks in NYC! Disney is so different. In the video, I say that it would take 25 minutes, but we had a good view even though we weren't in AC. But gosh, all those people waiting in the SUN to take the boat was crazy! But who am I to say they're crazy when we were excited that Tom Bricker was at the Boardwalk Bakery just two days earlier!

I also saw the Dance Hall and thought about how so many people have events there.

I've seen so many pictures of this as well including some lovely wedding photos.

And there's the Swan! We were wondering the whole deal with getting to these other hotels. We have a gift certificate to Todd English's bluezoo, but we've just never gone yet.

Look! Another boat! I didn't realize that there were so many different colors for the boats until the pin set of the Friendship boats came out fairly recently. I did trade for one during our last trip just because I wanted to remember this particular journey!

We finally arrived! This was an absolutely WEIRD experience. Why?

I know we haven't been going to DHS for too long because during our first trip, we totally skipped it and didn't go to this park with my cousins, but we really did NOT know that there was a body of water there. Seriously. On the boat, we were trying to figure out where it would drop us off! We have only ever taken the bus or been dropped off by a car, so we always walked along the pathway and turned left since we were looking towards the front of the park. We never looked to the right to see that there was WATER! What now?! Haha, it was rather entertaining.

Here we were at DHS! We could see those signs for Star Wars Weekends.

We didn't have as many goals for Star Wars Weekends that day other than checking out the merchandise and making sure we saw Hyperspace Hoopla. We popped right into a store and saw a TON of stuff! Pins galore!

Tons of Vinylmation! I actually liked these a lot because the Disney characters dressed as other characters thing is one of my favorites. Howard, on the other hand, really enjoys the blindbox Star Wars Vinylmation. Since they're super expensive, he hasn't actually bought any of them, but we have about 3 or 4 of them from trades in the parks.

The same goes for these pins as it was Jedi Mickey and such!

Despite all the fun merchandise, there was one thing that Howard had one thing that he knew he was going to get ... the 2012 SWW limited edition iPhone case!

I could only look at Star Wars stuff for so long though. Haha, I know my husband is interested in it, but I like things like food pins, haha.

It has to be a Disney fan thing otherwise people wouldn't be going crazy over Mickey waffles and Mickey ice cream and Mickey rice krispies treats!

Wow, look at this! It's my husband getting ready to SPEND MONEY! Haha, we are both pretty good about not really spending too much money on souvenirs. Most of the things we've gotten stuff at the Disney outlets and not so much at the Disney parks because of the high prices unless we have a gift card. This was definitely a higher priced souvenir; I think I remember it being $40, but he would definitely enjoy this purchase and it was super worth it. He knew that this was something he might get too in the same way that I knew I'd get those salt and pepper grinders and egg/pancake rings a few years ago. We just know that going to Disney in and of itself is such pricey fun so we just do our best to minimize spending elsewhere by not buying everything we like or sharing meals. We've also learned not to deny ourselves things so we don't feel guilty about sharing a snack in the middle of the day either, which is totally different from how my dad was with our family. This method works for us, and we always leave our Disney trips super satisfied by everything!

After Howard's purchase, we strolled around the park and saw Chewbacca available for meet and greets, but we weren't about to stand in the sun to take a picture with the characters. It's REALLY not our thing. I know so many others love meet and greets, but we are really awkward with them, haha. It's good for all of you though because we don't clog the lines! Plus, Chewie rather tall and hairy. That makes him scary.

We were in this area to do some non-SWW stuff, but we did see characters just walking around! I'd tell you who those people in those white costumes were, but I really don't know and Howard isn't home from work yet, haha. All I know is that they are not Stormtroopers.

Then a moment later, there was a green fella with gross thingie as his "hair." Again, I can't tell you who it is as my husband is not home, haha. I just thought it was interesting how they walked so freely unlike the regular characters in the park.

But like I said, we don't care much about the characters. We are very into more adventure-packed things like lights! And motors! And action!

We don't stop for characters either. I just don't know what I'd say to them?! :confused3

Star Wars Weekends is on my Disney bucket list - I have loved the SW franchise since I was a little girl :) Do you have a photo of what Howard's phone case looked like? I try (emphasis on TRY) not to overdo it on souvenirs, which is hard because it's easy to get blinded by all the shiny things. But I do like to get one or two nice items that I know I'll use alot and get my enjoyment out of - sounds like the case was an excellent choice for Howard!

Yeah! Whether they have faces or not, I still don't know what I'd say to either. I don't get overly excited about seeing the characters up close because I can't get over the fact that they're really someone else, haha. From far away though like in parades and Fantasmic and such, I do get very excited and it's easier to believe that the people I'm seeing ARE the actual characters they portray. Of course, if one of our DIS buddies is being friends with a character, I would totally go and try to meet them though! I was hoping I could meet Pocahantas or Jasmine during our last trip and was tweeting a DISer who's friends with them, but she didn't see them when we were there.

Cute pics. :goodvibes

Thanks!

Absolutely! I'll have it in the next update because Howard put it on his phone right away, haha. I think a souvenir like this is perfect because he uses his phone every day. So many people have commented on it too. Stay tuned! I started writing that update, but today I spent the day sleeping because I'm fasting for an ultrasound in less than 2 hours. Didn't want to be online because I have a tendency to munch, haha.

Anyway, we have the same exact souvenir "policy" too. That's why we didn't think TOO much about our Mickey salt and pepper grinders because not only are they things that are on display in our kitchen, we utilize them on almost a daily basis to cook. Totally worth it that way!

Honestly, I have the same policy. I am trying not to just collect 'stuff' anymore. It has to be pretty unique and useable for me to get it.

Have you guys considered going to Disney for your anniversary? That's what we decided to do for our 5 year.... I just started my PTR/TR.
We didn't have a Disney wedding or honeymoon... but we had just been to Disney less than a year before we got married.... and he didn't like they way he proposed... so he proposed a second time when we were in Disney.
Anyway... just wondered if you had made any plans for you anniversary.
Also-- you didn't know where the water was?! We take the boat ALL the time... my husband's family loves the boats, so we always take them... that and we've only stayed at WL and it's the fastest transportation to the MK.
Can't wait for the next installment!

Having that mentality works out so well considering there are so many things in EVERY shop that can easily catch the eye! I hope to raise our kids the same way. Growing up, we NEVER got souvenirs, so I think it'll be fun to allow our kids to choose a reasonably priced souvenir on our trip even if it's from the outlet, haha.

I bookmarked your PTR/TR after seeing your message! I'll be there soon.

We didn't plan a whole trip to go for our 1st anniversary so when we went back last December to get another trip out of our annual passes, we considered it our anniversary trip knowing we wouldn't be back in May due to the school year. But then my family decided to go in June and asked us to go, so we tagged along and THAT became more of our anniversary trip. Neither of them were TRULY trips to celebrate considering in December, I ended up getting pretty sick and in June, we were with my parents and brother, haha. But I like the idea of going for our 5-year anniversary and possibly staying on property again. But we still have 4 years to go. I wonder if we'll have kids by then ...

Haha, yeah! We never stayed on property before our Disneymoon and we never had park hoppers either so getting on the boat wasn't something we would have needed to do. Even knowing that the boats were there from reading TRs, it didn't occur to me that there had to be water somewhere, haha.

Watching the Ballet

Despite being at DHS for Star Wars Weekends, we were getting ready to enjoy Lights, Motors, Action! I had mentioned it in an older TR, but when Howard and I were planning on what to do at DHS for the first time (we both hadn't been at the park in AGES and only remembered a few things about MGM), we used a ton of the AllEars resources. I really wanted to see Indiana Jones because I remembered loving it when I was kid, and Howard really wanted to see LMA. I wasn't very into it, but I went along knowing how much he wanted to see it. What do ya know! I ended up LOVING LMA and thinking Indy was a little boring just because I still remembered most of what happened. LMA is the one thing at DHS we MUST do on top of Toy Story Midway Mania. We'll purposely arrange our day to make sure we can see this show. I know there are many on DIS who don't see it the same way we do, but it's just a must-see for us!

Since we didn't arrive really early, we sat higher up in the bleachers on the left side when facing the stage. We only had a little bit of time to wait, which was nice on a hot day because the stadium isn't necessarily the coolest place to wait even though there are a few fans attempting to circulate the air. I had some entertainment though as Howard was excited to open his new souvenir.

He easily snapped his new SWW case on his phone. As you can, Howard has one of those shields on his phone that blocks anyone around him from seeing what's on his screen. You have to be pretty much directly in front of the phone to see anything, which is nice because he commutes to work on public transportation. You know how boys will gather around one kid who has a Gameboy or DS? You can't really do that with the phone when it has this shield on it. Initially, I thought I wanted one too, but it just changes the feel of the touch screen so I don't. That's my brief review, haha.

Look now! Here's a better shot of the case that he purchased. It's Darth Maul Donald and Jedi Mickey, which is great for him because it mixes his love of Disney with his love for Star Wars.

While he admired his phone case, I admired my rings! For those of you have been reading along, you know just how much I was into ring photos to show where we were. First time watching LMA when married! It's not because I was showing off my rings because the e-ring diamond isn't large by most people's standards (I've heard people say that their e-rings had better be 1 ct or they won't want it ...), but my engagement ring AND my wedding ring are so special to me because Howard gave them to me! Plus, it's clearly an indication that I'm now a MARRIED WOMAN, and it's plain to see. Woohoo!

Super happy! Haha, my hair looks ridiculous here.

When the kid was chosen as the volunteer to test out the life-size remote control car, the host of the show was able to show off her linguistic talents. The boy was from Cuba and actually didn't understand English! It was pretty cool that it happened to be that host because she immediately started translating so that the boy could understand. I recorded it because I thought it was a very interesting exchange. You can watch how the dialogue goes by clicking the video link below the picture. By the way, every time they give the kid the pin, I always think how it's not fair that I can't get a pin like that, haha.

VIDEO: Remote Control Car

During the ballet chase, I still sometimes hold my breath. Even though it's so well-rehearsed, it's still a bunch of stunt car drivers so there's a bit of room for human error. I know they probably have so much fun performing, but I also say a quick prayer that everything runs smoothly so that they're all safe. Oh yeah, during our December trip when we watched this show, only some of the cars drove out onto the set for the first sequence. They waited a bit before the director said that they had to reset because not all the cars were out. So I'm sure they have plenty of safety procedures especially considering it's Disney. For other situations, the show must go on, but this one probably has a TON of precautions! I know the same goes for Fantasmic too as one of our DIS friends who is friends with Pocahantas and Jasmine has said that there was a situation where Mickey didn't appear at the top of the mountain in the Fantasmic finale because he wasn't ready to go at that time and it would've been unsafe otherwise.

Despite the fact that Howard is also a big fan of the first Cars movie, this whole segment really bores the both of us. Yeah, it was cute the first time we saw him appear, and we know that the set has to be prepared for the next stunt sequence so they have to kill some time, but this is kind of ridiculous. When Lightning McQueens makes that "I am speed!" comment, he just continues driving at such a slow pace! Haha, yes, I know that they're not actual stunt cars, but it just looks extra slow after watching the real stunts. During one occasion, both cars slowed down SO much when making the first turn on the right side of the stage too. The drivers must have been so nervous to ding up the car!

I haven't watched Herbie, but I actually really liked that segment more. It was cute when the car split in half.

The motorcycle chase scene is interesting with it ending in the guy OR girl covered in flames. It's normally a guy in the suit, but this past June, it was actually a girl! I like how the director acts all concerned in making sure the person is okay.

Getting ready for the final scene as they bring in that truck.

Since we've seen the show so many times, we sometimes don't pay that much attention to what's being said at the time and instead focus and discuss what the crew is doing to set up. There are so many things that I didn't notice in terms of their set-up until I specifically watched for it. It must be really fun being able to help set up the stunts without having to actually deal with the anxiety of driving. That's how I see it anyway. Although during the really hot days, it's probably not as fun since there isn't much shade there!

As you can see in the next few pictures, the timing was just a tad bit off in the finale stunt. The red car made it down the truck and through the jump much faster than the last explosion. Normally, the shots you can get are better than this. I wonder what happened.

Either way, we were really happy that we caught the show seeing as it is our favorite! I wish it just wasn't so HOT during the summer months though! As we left the stadium, I always like looking at where the cars just were when we pass by this fence that blocks off where the hero car goes after that final jump. It's interesting to think that when you come into the theater, you walk here to choose which side you plan on sitting.

We made it out to the Streets of America and didn't know where to go, but we had the opportunity to watch a bit of Mulch Sweat n' Shears. I think the group is rather talented as most of the musical or improv numbers in DHS are fantastic! However, I have to say that the girl was a little irritating to me. I don't quite know why, but she really bugged us.

She didn't seem to bug some others in the audience though! Take a look at the first video that includes this one guy who decided to stand right in front of me in, haha. In the second video, you can that we are not fans of the girl as I moved the camera to Howard's face. You can also see there's this one guy in a white top and black shorts totally rocking out and pretending he had a guitar or drums too! He kept adjusting his sunglasses as well. Only in Disney can everyone just rock out without a care in the world! The audience volunteer smashing the pink inflatable guitar is kind of funny especially when it starts drooping.

Another fun update - I really enjoy DHS too! and thanks for the picture of Howards case - that is awesome! I can't seem to find any of the really great cases for my phone now as it's an iPhone 3GS and basically ancient by phone and phone accessory standards. I'm probably due for an upgrade in the fall so then I'll be able to find something more fun than what I have now :)

and I think your rings are beautiful and I love how excited you are. I have a feeling that if that's meant for me someday, I'll have a very similar reaction! I don't really care for the extra large diamonds, I am always drawn to the daintier rings. There's a sense of grace about them, that they don't need to shout 'look at me!' Guess that's why there are SO many choices - something for everyone!

Great updates!

I have never taken the boat to DHS! It looks like such a lovely ride!

We never really did any Character Meet and Greets either (except for maybe one quick photo with Mickey) until our munchkin came along. Now with kids, even though it is still completely awkward, it is worth it for the smile on his face!

Wait! I thought the guys in the white are Storm Troopers?!?! (Though I have never seen the movies, so I could be completely wrong!).

We have seen Lights! Motors! Action! once and really enjoyed it but didn't necessarily think it was worth taking time out for every trip. I have been trying to decide if we should make it a point to see it on our next trip though. After our trip in Sept/Oct we likely won't be back for 2-3 years, and with all the rumors for changes to DHS, I'm concerned it will be our last chance to see it!
