Mr. and Mrs. Potts Take a Honeymoon Holiday - Finished 8/5 Final Thoughts

We decided to walk up and down Main Street looking in all the shops. We saw a rice krispie Mickey head the size of Kellan’s head, and I took a photo of the only Mrs. Potts I saw anywhere in the parks.

DSC00917.jpg

It’s huge!

DSC00921.jpg

Seriously, she’s the only one.

And forward at the castle.

DSC00920.jpg

It was so windy, I don’t know how those CM were holding on to the balloons.

We still had time and I suggested going up and sitting on the balcony of the train station. I took a bunch of pictures from up here.

Wish I could do panoramic shots, cause I think this series would be cool.

As I was taking photos, Pluto, who had been doing a greeting by the flagpole, went on break. He and his handler were walking at a pretty brisk pace when Pluto looked up and saw us. He did a little jump, waved and blew us kisses before moving on his way.

Going on break

DSC00929.jpg

Hi up there! (The CM is yelling at some adults who kept trying to stop Pluto. She must have told them he would be back about a dozen times.)

At this point, we’d killed enough time at this point and went to catch a boat over to Wilderness Lodge.

Waiting for the boat

There was a bit of a line for the boat, but it came quickly. We were one of the last groups to get on the boat and it was very crowded. The ride was not terribly pleasant because we were so squished.

It didn’t take long at all before we were docking at Wilderness Lodge.

DSC00947.jpg

We took our time walking up to the Lodge, enjoying the scenery.

DSC00948.jpg

DSC00949.jpg

I took a couple photos before we went in. I would really like to stay here one day. I love the look of the hotel and it seems so much smaller than the mods do.

DSC00951.jpg

I love this lobby! I’m a huge fan of the Arts and Crafts architectural movement from the turn of the last century. I would love to have a house done in the style someday.

We checked in at the restaurant and were told it would be about 20 minutes. We found a bench in the lobby and settled down to people watch. About five minutes later, we buzzed and were told to head up to the desk. We were seated against the window near the back of the restaurant. Our waitress was Diana and she was really nice. Our meal was well paced and almost everything was tasty. I ordered iced tea and Kellan got a soda for drinks. The waitress brought them with Mickey head straws.

DSC00952.jpg

For appetizers, I ordered the heirloom tomato salad, which was lovely. I adore tomatoes when they’re as fresh and ripe as these were.

DSC00955.jpg

Kellan ordered the Artist Point "BLT.” This is sweet chili lacquered snake river farm pork belly, baby heirloom tomatoes, vincott, and petit greens. He liked the pork belly, but not the tomatoes (of course). I ate those.

We both ordered the tenderloin that I apparently didn’t take a photo of. This came with pearl onions, potatoes and green beans. It was tasty and cooked perfectly. I ordered mine without the green peppercorn sauce, but Kellan liked the sauce a lot.

DSC00956.jpg

For dessert, I got the nectarine upside down cake. I wanted to like this more than I did. It came with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. The fruit part was good, but the cake itself was a little dry.

DSC00957.jpg

Kellan, however, got the chocolate indulgence, which was amazing! He shared it with me and, oh my god, this was good. Diana brought our dessert plates with a glowing Tinkerbell and Buzz Lightyear on them, which was cool.

It was starting to sprinkle when we got outside and we were happy to see the boat pulling in as we got to the dock. No one else got on with us and we sat alone in the back of the boat. It was such a relaxing, romantic ride back to the MK. We were stopped at one point to let the Electrical Water Pageant, so we got to see that too. The way the pictures change is so cool. I still think the sea dragon is kinda creepy though. Lol.

Once the pageant had passed, we docked and were on a bus back to CSR pretty quickly. It was another fairly early night for us, which was good, because we had an early breakfast at Kona the next morning.

Day 11: 8/27

We were up a bit earlier than we had been the past few days because we had an ADR at Kona Café for breakfast. They were pretty empty when we got there and we were seated almost immediately in a booth by the wall away from the window. Our server Maria was over the moon about it being our honeymoon and brought us confetti and cupcakes at the end of our meal.

DSC00963.jpg

Good morning Kellan!

We both wanted to try the lilikoi juice, which was ok. It was pretty sweet and I don’t know if I’d want more than one glass of it. Kellan ordered the Big Kahuna and I ordered Tonga Toast for the first time. I was excited to try this, given all the love its gets on the boards. Well, I found it to be completely overrated. It was a huge chunk of dry toast with one tiny slice of banana in the middle. Yes, the strawberry sauce was awesome, but it wasn’t enough to make the toast less dry. The fruit that came with it was very good, sweet and delicious and I ate all of it.

Kellan liked his eggs and sausage, found the bacon to be typical gross Disney bacon and liked the French toast, especially with my strawberry sauce. The pancakes were pancake-y (he’s not a huge fan) and the potatoes were slightly underdone. All in all, this breakfast was a big disappointment and I won’t come back here for breakfast. We didn’t do dinner at Kona this trip and I wish we had because I love dinners here.

After breakfast, we hopped on the monorail to MK. We got through the turnstiles just as the rope drop show was starting.

DSC00972.jpg

Once it was done, we moved through the arches and down Main Street pretty quickly. It’s funny. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the rope drop show before this trip and we saw it three times.

The plan was to go meet Tinkerbell and Tiana and then wander around after. We were the second ones in line for the fairies and got to meet Vidia, who was quite cool and then Tinkerbell! I was so excited to meet Tink and she was perfect! We had really good interaction here. Both the fairies were obsessed with my purple hair and what I used to get it that color. It was quite funny.

Photo0355FourBySix.jpg

Photo0365FourBySix.jpg

I will admit I had to look Vidia up, because I’m not as up on my fairies as I should be.

Photo0369FourBySix.jpg

Photo0377FourBySix.jpg

When we were done with the fairies, we moved over the bridge to Liberty Square to get in line for Tiana. My husband and I both loved The Princess and the Frog and were excited to meet Tiana. Her dress was gorgeous! The cool thing was that Tiana recognized my autograph book and how old it was. She and the CM both spent a minute flipping through my other trips and seemed genuinely impressed at how long I’d had the book. She was super nice.

Photo0383FourBySix.jpg

Photo0388FourBySix.jpg

Photo0390FourBySix.jpg

This is where she noticed the cover on my book and recognized it as a book from the late 80s. That was pretty impressive to me. My autograph book is the same one I’ve been using since my first trip to Disney in 1987. Each new trip, I write on the first empty page the dates of the trip so I’ll know when I got each group of autographs. Tiana asked if she could see the earlier trips so I took the clip off and she and her handler flipped through the old autographs. They seemed pretty impressed.

Photo0392EightByTen.jpg

The photographer took a bunch of photos.

Photo0399FourBySix.jpg

Tiana gave us both hugs as we left. I look like I don’t want to hug her here, but I think I just didn’t want to crush her dress.

Photo0400FourBySix.jpg

Tiana was easily one of the best character interaction we had this trip. She was very genuine and welcoming.

I could see Lady Tremaine, Anastasia and Drizella up near the castle so we took the back path up. Their line was closed but the CM said that the Fairy Godmother would be out in about five minutes.

DSC00980.jpg

Heading back inside. We would see them later.

Waiting for the Fairy Godmother

To be continued...

Since we were standing in the shade, we decided to wait for her. The Fairy Godmother was so sweet. She oohed and ahhed over our story and loved that we were there on our honeymoon. She had us pose with our hands together and her’s over them and then said she wished us all the happiness in the world.

I was waiting for the dress to change color (as the CM said it did), but she kept giving me funny looks so I ended up leaving.

DSC00989.jpg

From there, we saw Donald in his Davy Crocket outfit and got in line. While we were standing in line, I snapped a couple pics of how empty the park was. Kellan agrees with me that getting up early and making rope drop is the way to do the parks.

Photo0401FourBySix.jpg

Photo0404FourBySix.jpg

At this point, Kellan was starting to feel poorly again. This time it was his stomach. After our photos with Donald, we decided to go get FP for Space Mountain later and then go home. Kellan waited in the shade under the People Mover.

On my way back from getting the FP, I saw Chip and Dale coming out in space gear. There was no one around them and no one even looking at them yet, but they decided to pretend they were space walking and started moving really slowly like they were in zero G. It was really cute and funny.

As we were heading out, lots of people were coming in. We were the only ones waiting at our bus stop and wait we did. We waited 45 minutes for a bus to come. I don’t know what took so long, but Kellan was getting crankier by the moment because he didn’t feel good. When the bus came, there was no one on it! I did at one point go to a bus waiting at the next stop down, explained the situation and asked about calling someone to get us a bus. The driver, cheerful and pleasant as they all are, told me they were on different frequencies and couldn’t. The other driver he’d been chatting with said something about calling central and the first driver just said, “No, I can’t do that.” Very annoying.

Finally, a bus did show up and we went straight back to our room. I wanted Kellan to lay down and I told him I’d go out and get drinks for us. Thank god Mousekeeping had already been there. It was hit or miss as to whether our room was going to be made up when we came back at midday and I figured since it was only around 11, chances were good it wouldn’t be. Kellan crawled into bed, I grabbed our mugs and went to El Centro to get some Immodium for him, deodorant for me (my travel size didn’t last as long as I thought it would) and lunch. I went into the Pepper Market to see what looked good. I ended up getting mac and cheese, which came with a couple of orange slices, OJ and a cookie. I snagged a tray and used it to carry all, plus the slices of strawberry shortcake and a fruit tart from Rix and our refilled mugs back to the room.

Kellan was dozing when I got back, but he woke up long enough to drink some soda, take the Immodium and use the bathroom again. After about a half hour nap, Kellan said he felt like getting out. I asked him if he wanted to go check out the Dig Site pool and he said he did. We found a table up by the Jacuzzi, which we hopped into for a few minutes. It felt good, especially on my tired feet and legs. Then we went over to the big pool. The water felt so good after the hot tub and stayed that way the whole time we were in it. It was the first time any pool had felt refreshing on our trip. Kellan convinced me to go down the slide, which I loved and we just floated around for a while.

Kellan decided he’d had enough and we went back to the room. I offered to go get him some lunch to see if that would help him feel better and he hopped into the shower. I got him a pepperoni pizza at Rix. Since it counted as a meal, I got a bag of chips as a side and a V8 for myself. I definitely felt like I needed the veggies.

Kellan said the pizza wasn’t bad, but wasn’t good. It was just pizza. He’s always of the mind that any pizza is better than no pizza. Lol. After he ate, we both settled in for a nap.
DSC00995.jpg

When we left the room, I decided to take this photo of our view. We were on the third floor, which was very nice.

DSC00996.jpg

I also noticed that technically we had a theme park view, since we could just see the top of Everest over at Animal Kingdom.

Dinner this night was at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. I’d never been here before and was excited to try it, since it seems to get good reviews on the Dis. We hopped a bus to DHS and then boarded an extremely crowded Friendship to the Yacht Club. We were in the first row, so we were able to feel air moving, otherwise, I suspect we would both have gotten seasick.

The Yacht Club is such a beautiful resort. It looks so elegant. We took the long walk to the Yachtsman and checked in. We were seated in the half round room, right by the window, which was lovely when people came wandering by in their swimsuits to use the pool. We saw all kinds of fashion wrongs during that dinner. Lol.

Our waiter was Oscar and as we sat there, we noticed that almost all of the waiters were older men of Hispanic decent, which we found interesting. Oscar was from Argentina and we saw other name tags from Brazil, Mexico, Panama, etc. Oscar was almost overly accommodating. When we had a problem with our meal later on, he became almost offended that we wouldn’t allow him to bring us something else.

To drink, I ordered an iced tea, which came with a little pitcher of simple syrup, so I could make sweet tea if I wanted. I didn’t. Lol. Kellan ordered a coke to drink. At some point in the meal, Kellan wanted to try my iced tea, so we swapped drinks. He liked it, but it took all of the syrup to make it sweet enough for him.

DSC00997.jpg

For starters, I ordered the heirloom tomato salad (noticing a pattern here?), which came with a wedge of brie, a smear of olive tapenade and a lovely basil cream. This was good, although I stayed away from the olives and the brie was meh (I’m not a fan of brie).

DSC00998.jpg

Kellan ordered the charcuterie board. This had smoked duck sausage, wild boar terrine, mangalista rok pillette, chicken pate, sopressata, artisinal cheeses, house made raisins, gherkins and crostini. Kellan liked the sopressata, the pickles, raisins and the duck sausage, but the rest was not to his liking. I ate his cheese (more brie, but better on the crostini) and tried some of the other things, but agreed that this was a little too adventurous for us.

We were also brought a basket of that wonderful bread, butter with sea salt and roasted garlic. We both loved the onion rolls, spread with butter and garlic and Kellan ate several of those in place of his appetizer. Lol.

My entrée was the filet mignon. This came with the most delicious mashed potatoes I’ve ever had and a wonderful red wine sauce. I loved this meal. The steak was cooked perfectly.

Unfortunately, Kellan ordered the prime NY Strip, with fries instead of the gratin. The fries were good. They had made a big deal about how this steak particularly was cut and trimmed in house and how good it was, so Kellan wanted to try it. He’s not as big in to the filet as I am, so he likes to try other cuts once in a while. Being a butcher, he knows what well trimmed meat looks like and this was not it. His steak was fatty and gristly. There was very little of the meat that was edible.

Kellan called Oscar over and explained what was wrong. He told him that he cuts NY strips for a living and that this wasn’t what one should look like. Oscar wanted to get Kellan another steak, but Kellan still wasn’t feeling 100%, so he passed. This is where we think we offended Oscar. Oscar was very insistent that Kellan get a new steak, but Kellan didn’t want to waste the food. Oscar whisked his plate away and went to tell the chef.

About five minutes later, Oscar comes out with the chef, who never apologizes, but rather defends his meat cutter. He told Kellan that the strip is a fattier piece of meat and that this is what they normally look like. Kellan kept telling him no, I cut these and I know what they should look like. This was definitely a first cut steak, which should never be served in a fine restaurant.

Finally, the chef went away and Oscar promised to bring us dessert menus. Kellan was really annoyed by the way the chef never even apologized. He basically said, “Well, it’s your fault for ordering that steak.” He decided he was going to speak with the manager after dessert.

Dessert was the most successful course of this meal, because we both loved what we got.

DSC00999.jpg

I got the seasonal stone fruit cake, which was nectarines again. This time though, the cake was a moist fluffy sponge and the nectarines were diced. It was served with champaign sorbet/foam thing. The combination was absolutely delicious! This is what I had been hoping the dessert from the night before had been. I loved it.

DSC01000.jpg

Kellan ordered a flourless chocolate chili cake. It was served with a mango coulis, diced mango and a mango sorbet. He’s not usually a fan of mango, but this time it helped to cut the heat from the cake, which was quiet spicy, but also quite delicious. He really enjoyed this, which made the rest of his meal so sad.

After dessert, Kellan went to find the manager, who took his meal off our bill. When Oscar brought the check, he also brought us a plate of little house made candies to celebrate our honeymoon (or anniversary, as it says on the plate).

DSC01001.jpg

There were two raspberry gumdrops and two salted caramels. They were lovely.

Kellan was feeling ok at this point so we decided to go back to the MK for EMH. We still hadn’t seen Wishes from inside the park and I wanted to see the new castle show. When we were going through the turnstile, one of the CMs noticed our just married pins and called my husband over. They conferred for a little while and then we went on our way. Kellan said he wanted to do some shopping alone for a while and would I mind. I said that I wouldn’t and we planned to meet at City Hall in an hour.

To be continued...

I wandered around taking photos and browsing in each shop. I found a few things I knew I was going to want. I also went to guest services to see if there was any way I could check our flight home. Hurricane Irene was scheduled to hit NY on Saturday and we were worried airports would still be closed on Sunday. My mom and dad said they were already at our house, because they were afraid they wouldn’t be able to get there if they left Saturday.

A lovely young gentleman escorted me to a room in the back, where there was a computer. I checked our flight status and we were still ok. JetBlue decided that the Syracuse airport was far enough west to not be affected by the storm, so I wouldn’t have been able to change our flight without a change fee anyway. We were just going to have stay at Disney for the rest of our honeymoon. Oh, darn.

The cool little hidden computer room

Before I knew it, Kellan was there and we went to stake out spots for Wishes. We found a great spot on the bridge leading to Tomorrowland, almost directly under Tinkerbelle’s flight path. We were directly across from the Tomorrowland Terrace, where the dessert party happens. Our spot was every bit as good as those were, and we didn’t have to pay for it!

How excited we were to see Wishes? This excited!

I didn’t take any photos during the Magic, Memories and You show. I think I was just too enthralled to do anything other than watch. It was really amazing. I know people were really negative about the show being projected on the castle before the show premiered, but it was just so cool. I did get some photos of Wishes though.

DSC01048.jpg

A very short lady offered to take this photo of us. I think that’s why Kellan leaned so far over.

DSC01049.jpg

In the hat shop, Kellan had to try on some R2-D2 ears. He didn’t want to buy them, just try them on.

Then we headed to Adventureland because we had a date with some Tiki birds.

DSC01050.jpg

Aladdin’s Carpets, on the way.

DSC01051.jpg

I adore the Tiki Room. It’s one of my family’s favorite attractions. We try to go on it every trip, but when they switched over to the Under New Management show, we stopped. It just wasn’t the same. When we were in DL, we did watch the original show and it just made us sad that they had changed the show at WDW so badly. Well, I was so excited when I heard they were going to bring back a version of the original show. It was fun to watch and Kellan enjoyed it. There was an annoying group of hipsters who must have been on date night that were seated near us. They kept making derisive comment once the show started, but Kellan growled at them and they stopped.

Kellan’s stomach was also growling at this point and he was looking for something I had told him about, but we hadn’t had the chance to get yet: corndog nuggets! We went to Casey’s and got an order of corndog nuggets, fries, Cracker Jack and a soda. He loved them! I’m not a corndog girl, so I just snacked on fries and Cracker Jack, but he was ready to get a couple more orders. Lol. He’s been talking about corndog nuggets since we got back. I might have to try and figure out how to make them at home.

After Casey’s, we rode the Haunted Mansion again and then went to Space Mountain. We rode this a couple times. Then we stopped in the Merchant of Venus where we found a Beauty and the Beast play set. It was a bunch of figurines, including a Mrs. Potts! We had been looking everywhere for anything Mrs. Potts, but found nothing. I was so excited that we bought the whole set. She now sits on my desk at work.

On the way out of Tomorrowland, we found a PP photographer in the area to the right of the castle and had a few photos taken.

Photo0416FourBySix.jpg

Photo0417FourBySix.jpg

Kellan really liked the whole pick me up thing.

Photo0421FourBySix.jpg

It looks like I’m fighting Kellan here, but I’m not. He leaned me back so quickly, I lost my balance, so I’m trying not to fall over.

Kellan had to stop at City Hall to get something. He came out with a large package and I was intrigued. When we got back to the room, he made me go into the dressing area and close the doors. After about five minutes, he opened the door and he had a blue glass slipper and a tiara on a pillow for me. He had the slipper engraved with our honeymoon date, and “To my beloved wife, you make my dreams come true.” The tiara was the Belle one from Arribas Bros. I nearly cried. I’d wanted one of the glass slippers forever. He is so sweet! He said he’d been trying to plan a surprise for me since we got to Disney with no luck. What the CM at the gate had told him was that he could get turn down service for the room, if he called our resort and explained what he wanted. The resort said they’d only do turn down if he ordered something from the Disney florist, which was out of his price range since he’d already bought the slipper and tiara. I love my husband.

DSC01053.jpg

Don’t mind the pajamas. The tiara just called for my magic wand from CRT.

DSC01052.jpg

Kellan said he’d never worn a tiara before so we had to fix that.

I went to see about checking in early and Kellan went to use the restroom. There was a young man at the desk and he checked me in with no problems. While I was waiting, another woman showed up to check in. The manager came up to me and said he heard I was celebrating something. I said I was, that it was our honeymoon. Then he asked if we would like to be the celebrities of the day and open the restaurant! I said yes and he told me to take a seat and relax, he’d be back in a bit. Kellan came back and I told him what happened. The other woman in the room looked pissed and kept glaring at us. I wondered if she had been checking in early in hopes of being made celebrity of the day. There was no other reason I could see for her to look so angry at us.

The celebrity guest book

I was given a feather boa and Kellan got a derby hat to wear. When it was time to open the restaurant, the manager took us outside and had us walk the red carpet while he took photos like paparazzi. Back inside, he made a speech about us coming from glamorous NY to cut the ribbon and open the restaurant. Then he took more photos and they threw confetti on us as we were walked to our table. Kellan said he noticed several of the people in the lobby looked cranky that they had to wait for us before they could be seated and I laughed.

Our waiter was Tarik and he was very good, nicely attentive, but not too hovery. He brought us complimentary champagne to start off our meal and suggested we take advantage of the Fantasmic! package. We weren’t sure we wanted to see the show again, but we said yes, figuring we could give the vouchers away to someone if we didn’t.

DSC01124.jpg

Mmm, sparkly.

(post-tossing)
I ordered the famous Cobb salad for my appetizer. Besides being huge, there was a ton of blue cheese on it. I would probably have liked it more with less blue. It was also the first time I had had a chopped salad and I’m not sure about the texture of it. Tarik tossed it tableside for me which was cool. Kellan got the bibb lettuce salad. This came with a peppercorn sweet onion dressing, cherry tomatoes, shaved radishes, and parmesan-seed frico. He did not like this at all. The lettuce was too soft for him. He prefers romaine or iceberg lettuce that has some crunch. Also the dressing was too sweet and a bit creamy which he also doesn’t like.

Having a good lunch

DSC01130.jpg

Kellan got a coke to drink.

We both got the charred filet of beef, glazed with a red wine reduction topped with Cabernet and Roasted shallot butter, over white truffle forest mushroom whipped potatoes. This was very tasty. The sauce was delicious and the potatoes weren’t too fungus-y tasting.

DSC01133.jpg

For dessert, I ordered the famous grapefruit cake and Kellan got the warm seasonal fruit cobbler.

DSC01134.jpg

I believe the cobbler had a mix of berries inside.

We were also brought a chocolate mousse cake with candles. The mousse cake was the best dessert. The cobbler was good, but my cake was too tart for my liking. I was worried that would be the case, but I still wanted to try it.

Surprise mousse cake!

Tarik noticed we were taking food photos and offered to take one of us.

At the end of our meal, the Maître d’ presented us with this cool booklet of the photos he took.

When I was looking for this to scan into the computer, I also found the cards we’d gotten at Jiko and The Crystal Palace.

After lunch, we went over to Star Tours (yes, again!). On our way, we decided to find a couple to give our Fantasmic! vouchers to. This was way harder than you would think. Each group was either too big, or looked at us like we were trying to sell them a fake Rolex on the streets of NYC. We finally found a nice couple would said they were planning on seeing Fantasmic! that night. They also looked at me strangely, but finally took the vouchers. We had this same problem the couple times we tried to give away our fastpasses. People just don't want the pixie dust. I don't remember this from past trips as much. :confused3

The Jedi Training Academy was in full swing when we heard the Imperial March and had to stop. We got to see Darth Vader and Darth Maul and I snapped a few pics before heading into the ride.

Kellan felt sick again afterwards, which I think he’s just decided to live with since he likes the ride. This time I was chosen as the rebel spy! When we went into the gift shop, I had to get the “I was the rebel spy” shirt.

DSC01144.jpg

I’m a very serious hitchhiker. Lol.

Kellan felt better once he was outside and we headed to the RnR to use our FP. We also rode ToT while we were there. I cannot say how much I love this ride. We would both just ride this all day if we could. Before we left the park, we stopped at Beverly Sunset again. Kellan wanted a cherry slush and I wanted to use some snack credits. Kellan got a chocolate chip cookie and a piece of chocolate fudge. I got a box of monorail chocolates and a chocolate covered strawberry.

On the way back to CSR, we noticed the skies getting darker and darker. By the time we were off the bus, it had started to rain, with thunder and lightning. We dashed to our room and were not surprised to find it hadn’t been made up yet. We debated what to do. We didn’t want to go all day without a break, but we didn’t not want the room to be made up either. About 45 minutes later, Mousekeeping arrived and we decided to put on our ponchos and brave Epcot. We figured lines would be shorter and a little rain never bothered us.

DSC01145.jpg

How do you feel about the rain Kel?

DSC01146.jpg

I’m singing in the rain, just singing in the rain.

We were the only ones at the bus stop when the Epcot bus arrived and only one other family got on before we left the resort. At Epcot, the place was a ghost town. We went over to Club Cool for some soda before heading over to Mission: Space.

DSC01147.jpg

It’s so pretty!

We grabbed FP and then got in line. Kellan really wanted to ride this. I have done both sides of this ride and the orange side isn’t really that much worse to me than the green one. If you follow the directions they give you, you have a much better chance of not getting sick.

Kellan was not feeling good when we got off. We hung around inside the building for a little bit, like Robert the tour guide suggested before venturing outside. Kellan looked so green, I was worried I’d have to go get someone from First Aid. Then I remembered they had ginger soda at Club Cool. I left Kellan on the bench with his head between his knees and ran across the plaza to get some soda. Had I thought I about it, I would have asked one of the CMs if they had a larger cup so I didn’t have to tote two tiny cups back to him. I also stopped at a turkey leg cart and got a pretzel, thinking something bland might help too.

He slowly drank the soda and nibbled on the pretzel and did eventually feel better. He says he’d like to try the orange side again sometime because he thinks it was the stomach issues from the day before that caused his nausea. We went over to the Land to ride Living with the Land again, but it was closed so we decided to go back to Mexico. Kellan didn’t remember much about the Three Caballeros ride from the first time. The rain had slowed to a sprinkle at this point and it was quiet pleasant to walk around Epcot.

Kellan liked the Grand Fiesta Tour a lot more now that he remembers it and we steered clear of the tequila bar on our way out.

DSC01149.jpg

This pavilion is so pretty inside.

DSC01150.jpg

We also got to see the Mariachi Cobre, which was awesome. We love Mariachi music.

Outside, Donald was just coming out and we hopped in line. Kellan did call him uno caballero again, but quieter this time and Donald nodded. Donald is such a lady’s man. He pushed my husband away and gave me a hug and kissed my hand.

When Kellan tried to get in the picture, Donald shook his head and pointed at him to go away.

Finally, he did allow Kellan to get in some of the photos with us.

We stopped at a few more PP people as we walked around the lagoon.

Photo0451FourBySix.jpg

Because Kellan is so much taller than me, I always feel a little bit like I’m being strangled in this pose. Lol.

Photo0461FourBySix.jpg

We rode the Maelstrom again, because, like the Grand Fiesta, Kellan didn’t remember much about it. He also enjoyed this ride much more this time around. We stopped and got a large coke at the African Outpost.

DSC01156.jpg

In China, we saw Mulan but her line was closed. I’m beginning to think I’m never going to meet this girl! We went into the shop and looked around. Kellan’s mom has a Pomeranian that she often dresses up and we thought she might like the Chinese patterned satin dog jackets they were selling for stuffed animals. They had fairly large ones (Pepper is a big pom) but we weren’t sure he would fit in one.

DSC01157.jpg

In Germany, I made Kellan try on yet another silly hat. You can see how excited he is to wear it.

I also dragged him into the caramel shop again. I got another caramel covered rice krispie treat (plan was to take this one home) and a small bag of caramel corn. Oh, this was so good! It stayed fresh for a while too. I finished off the bag at home and it was still good.

We walked through Italy, looking in the shops.

DSC01160.jpg

The themed Mickey ears were quite cool, but I can’t imagine wearing some of them. Lol.

After a few pictures, we went to Japan.

DSC01167.jpg

I wanted to do the pick a pearl and Kellan thought it would be a nice present for his mom. The girl who opened our oysters was so enthusiastic about it. Kellan did his first. He picked out a small, ugly one and got a 7.5mm white pearl. I picked out a similar oyster. At first, she had trouble finding the pearl. It was really buried in the oyster. When she found it, it was a 7.25mm white pearl. She cleaned them and played the drum before handing them over in their little bags. We ended up buying a couple of pearl cages on Ebay and giving them to our moms for Christmas.

DSC01161.jpg

Where is that silly pearl?

DSC01162.jpg

Found it!

DSC01163.jpg

There’s the other one.

DSC01164.jpg

So pretty.

DSC01165.jpg

A little drum celebration and we’re done!

We kept looking through the store. I found an adorable pair of pink tabi socks with bunnies on them. We also picked out some Japanese candy to take home with us. When we were done in the store we stopped and got Kaki Gori and then found a quiet bench across from the Kidcot spot in the American Adventure. It was nice to sit in such a peaceful place and enjoy our snack.

After our snack, we kept going around the world. We stopped on the bridge to the UK to have some photos taken.

Photo0467FourBySix.jpg

We haven’t had a kissing photo in a while, so here you go!

Then we wandered around the UK.

DSC01172.jpg

We walked through the shops in the UK and stopped to talk to some of the CMs. We were kind of aimless at this point. We went back into Future World and looked around to see if there was anything we wanted to do there.
