I know relatively nothing about MP3 players, but think I may like to have one. Can anyone recommend a decent one that costs no more than $200? What features should I be looking for in an MP3 player? I know one thing I need and that is removable ear pieces, I saw one the other day that was nice, but you couldn't replace the ear pieces on it.

TIA

I purchased the Rio Cali-256 and so far have loved it. I just have to put a CD in the computer and drop and drag the songs and it downloads onto it. I truly don't know much about them, but it was recommended. It has a rubber case for protection in case it is dropped. I believe it was around 199 and then I had a rebate to send in that put it around 179.

I'm sure there are others on here that can give you more detailed information.

My DH gave me one for Christmas, he said it got alot of good reviews. It was an iriver ifp-390t and I love it. Easy to use, removable headphones, good sound. My only problem is it doesn't hold enough songs. I originally didn't think I would want one, now I want a bigger one, one that will hold my entire cd collection. This one will hold about 20 hours of music and you can also listen to FM radio and it has voice recording. I'm not sure if I got a special package or not but mine came with a neckstrap and also an armband that will hold it. And it was a little under $200.00.

If you have a lot of songs, the Dell DJ (Digital Jukebox) is great. I got my boyfriend one for Christmas and he loves it. They're a little bigger than a deck of cards, hold 15 or 20 GB (about 3000 or 5000 songs), and are cheaper and have longer battery life than the iPod. Dell was having a sale when I ordered mine, so the 15 GB model came to just under $240 with (fast!) shipping. It's a whole lot more music for not that much more money. ::yes::

On the other hand, if you're like me and couldn't find 3000 songs to fill up an MP3 player if you tried, you might be better off going with something smaller. Apple just came out with a small iPod that holds 1000 songs and is teeny tiny, but I have no clue how much those are.

How much music are you looking to put onto the player? That would narrow down the field of options, at least. :D

We got our dd a Rio for Xmas - got lucky with a $49 out of box special at Best Buy - originally $150. It's great. The drag and drop works easily and you can use it with iTunes also. You can increase the # of songs with external memory.

HeyMickey - that's funny!! My dh got me a 40gb iPod. Now, I'm a big time music lover, but 10,000 songs!!! Yikes! I've just recently celebrated my 1,000th song on that sucker. It's gonna be a while before I use up that 40gb...

trishy -- i have the 20gb ipod and i didn't think i could get to 5000 that quickly, but i'm almost there. 10,000 may happen faster than you know. :)

I am not really sure, I am looking to use the MP3 Player for my workouts, which total about an hour three times a week. I guess I would like at least three hours of music and I know I don't want to pay more than $200.

Thanks everyone!

I love my Creative Labs Nomad Jukebox 2LX. It was $200, and is 20 gig.
