Mowing the lawn at 7 am...

Seriously...does my neighbor have to mow the lawn at 7 am and weedwack at 8 am? :scared1:

And they complain when I have bbq's in the summer that, God forbid, last past midnight.

Makes perfect sense. If you're keeping them up past midnight with your raucious BBQ they can't get up at the crack of dawn to mow the yard.

I have neighbors that do that, too. He also attempts to paint the exterior of his home at midnight. In the dark.

That is annoying!!! ::yes::

The only time I don't mind noise like this is in the winter with snowblowers. There's something very relaxing about the sound of a snowblower - weird I know:confused:

I know what you mean!!! I love it because the sound of snow falling is soo quiet, and hearing the snowblower, is such a neat opposite. Can't explain it!

My neighbor got in trouble with the town, the people behind her turned her in because her landscapers would come before 8am to cut her lawn. She was going to be fined if she didn't havethem come later so now they come like at 8:05-still annoyingly early but legal. Most people though don't mow their lawns until after 10am on a weekend, common curtesy for those that work and only have 2 days a week to sleep a little later..

I think those who wait to 10AM to mow their lawn, especially in the heat and humidity of the summer, are being over-generous. There's reasonable accommodation that folks should make to be neighborly, and then there's going so far as to sell yourself short.

Thankfully, I live in a condo. ;)

Last weekend my neighbor had a new door put on at 6:30am... wanna know how loud the table saws were at that hour?? Oh did I mention the radio the guys had blasting while the worked. It of course had to be louder than the table saw so they could hear it.. of course that meant my kids could hear it with the windows closed..

Growing up my neighbor would always cut his lawn at 6am (nice old guy with nothing to do) then he would cut it again at 6pm.. yep... its good to be retired i guess ;) Sounds of early lawnmowers bring me back to my "childhood" days.

Now how does one get a neighbor to actually CUT his/her grass... its about knee high next door.

Lawn services that come early are especially bad. Around here they use two-three big mowers, along with a weed trimmer and leaf blower. It sounds like a small aircraft is landing outside your house.

In my neighborhood they aren't allowed to start before 8:00 am. They can come in and get their stuff ready, but can't turn anything on until 8:00. Of course the mowing on the golf course begins at 7:00 am...

Our crazy neighbor mows her lawn in the dark all the time, and sometimes here that means almost 11PM. I think she is trying to make us mad. She also waits for it to get knee deep and then it takes her forever and the mower clogs.

The city has come a few times and left notices that she has to mow her lawn and clean up the place. :thumbsup2 She thought she could just cover her whole lawn with black plastic to kill it and that would be that. :sad2: That made standing water, which bred mosquitoes,:scared1: finally a neighbor reported it to city and they made her replant her yard. So, we are back to knee high grass...gotta love thy neighbor! ;)

Oh, I had some crazy neighbors too!

This guy would sit in his boat, smoking a cig and flick his butts in my yard! They were all over my yard. I saw him do it. I don't smoke. No one that came to visit me smokes. Ever cut the grass with butts in them? They shred and look like much more than you started with. I started off picking them all up and bagging them. Then maturity won over and I started flicking them back into his yard and boat. :goodvibes

He and his family would stop what they were doing and sit on their front porch to watch me, every time I started cutting the grass. Like I was their entertainment or something. So I quickly changed my grass cutting time.

His little girl came up to me one day and told me I have a new cat. (?) I said, I do? Yes, she said, let me show you. So she opened my gate and showed me where the cat "lives" and I see all of the little cat food cans strewn about. The parents didn't want another cat, so the answer was to open my gate and feed the cat on my property! :scared1: When I asked her about the cat living under the shed and was looking at the huge hole that had been dug, she said Oh the cat didn't do that. Our dog did. At that point the dad came over and said he let the dog in to chase the cat! What???!! :scared1:

I told them both I had something to do and walked them to the gate. I was furious for lots of reasons. I took some pruning shears and almost ruined a pine taking out my frustrations. Ofcourse the dad was still out there watching. After awhile I set the shears down, walked over and told him I didn't want him to go in my gate again, and didn't appreciate him letting the dog in my yard digging up my property. I didn't say alot more (but wanted to) He just said, I know. (!) Didn't apologize or offer to repair the holes the dog dug on both sides of the shed. I was boiling mad. I got a lock for the fence and that was that.

Crazy!!!

Looks like the neighbor had you in mind while shopping.

I think you probably annoy your neighbor with the bbq lasting past midnight. I would be annoyed too since I wake up at 4:30 am for work on the weekends. I've often have wanted to call my neighbors on my way to work to interrupt thier sleep. (not that I would ever do that) If it is your neighbor "getting back at you" it is rude of them to wake up the rest of the neighborhood, but I completely understand them wanting to wake you up. I have been there! Also, just with a few people talking in normal voices gets loud when you are trying to sleep.

You can understand them wanting to wake me up? :rotfl: The fact that none of my other neighbors have ever commented on it, and the fact that when I ask them the next day, if they heard anything, no one says anything, I take it that the bbq was fine. I am very considerate especially at late hours, and I know when to take it inside.

Maybe my neighbor and you can be neighbors..seems like the perfect fit. ;)

I think it is ignorant at 7am period...Our city has a bylaw of 9am, and I find that perfect...Even if you are up before 9 (which I am) are you really in a RUSH to mow at 7am:confused3 ..

I often have BBQ'S, as do my neighbours..I would rather hear people having fun at midnight, than a lawn mower in the AM.

I don't ever say anything to my neighbors either. I would rather just keep the peace. I'm sorry but I do understand your neighbors anger if that is the problem. My neighbors for the most part are pretty quiet too, but I still hear the occasional laugh or something dropping and seems just as you are about to fall asleep you hear a noise. I don't think 2 wrongs make a right, but I do understand your neighbors frustration.
Our laws are you can make noise from 7am-10pm so maybe you can look into your laws and make a phone call to the police department, but I would expect it in return when you have your occasional bbq.

In our neighborhood it is 11pm to 8am. I don't see how mowing an hour earlier is any ruder than having a noisy gathering later. Fortunately all our current neighbors avoid both.

My retired neighbour started his snow blower one cold December Saturday morning at 7am. I went downs stairs and asked him (yelled at him) to stop. I reminded him that it was %$#$% 7am on a Saturday... and he laughed at me.

UGH

So, when he takes he mid afternoon nap, DH loved to cut the grass and trim. I see him walk a little slower on that side of the house!

:confused3
