I do not like Florida (except WDW). I hate the heat and humidity. I do not understand the attraction. It is crowded, congested and now expensive. I know the coast is beautiful, but who can afford to live anywhere near it? Sorry, I'll stay in New England. DW though may have other opinions on it. JMHO Jay

Not all parts are crowded and congested or expensive.
We have beautiful weather 9 months out of the year.

I grew up in CT, visited this summer. YAWN <g>.

And I feel we have beautiful weather only 3 months out of the year. :bitelip: Some of this is due to *where* in FL you reside. Being in the Ft. Meyers area you're likely to get some nice breezes off the water. :teeth: Fabulous! But in Central FL where I reside, there is no breeze. Just blasting furnace-like heat with humidity and no way to get away from it. I think another thing people should take into account is a person's own metabolism. My neighbor is shivering all the time, even during all this heat, and I'm too warm most times even during the winter. Oh yes, we sometimes have to run our air conditioning at Christmas. :guilty: Just have to face it, there's no place on earth where *everyone* will be happy. ;)

Orlando always feels about ten degrees hotter than us. but this is the time of year I don't like, the nights are starting to stay humid here. it'll stay that way until the beginning of October.

I agree. I would love to live in orlando to be near the theme parks, but not for the weather.
We have nice weather from Oct until May. 8 months, I guess. I still can tolerate hot over cold.
But, you're right, everywhere has it's good and bad points.

If we ever hit the lottery, we'd buy a condo in Celebration for a vacation home. :sunny:

Love, love it here! Grew up in CT and would not want to move back, there is so much more to do here and the weather is great. We have never thought it was so hot that we were miserable and the winters are perfect!!

I'd take a few oppressively hot/humid months over the cold, dark, frozen winters where the sun disappears in early October and doesn't come back until late May!

So they have to stay inside for a couple months. Big whup. We do that up north, too.

At least when you go out in Florida you don't slip on ice or hold your breath because the wind/cold are too much to breathe. You don't drive 20 mph on the flippin highway because of the ice. And when you leave a store, you don't have to clean the car off to drive home.

And you don't have to put all that crap on to go out and then take it off and let it dry when you get home. And the pothole situation...etc, etc...

No interest whatsoever. Too many hurricanes, too hot, and I like snow in the winter.

LOL I have to laugh at this post because I could have said it myself, yet here I am living in Florida. I agree totally with NJ above. I moved here initially because my then - husband was transferred and now I guess I just feel stuck.

Going to WDW is fun though. :sunny:

Eh, it's hot to be sure. I just came in from pruning a tree. I stay out until it starts to feel uncomfortable and then dive into central air.

For whatever reason the humidity down here doesn't affect me like it did up in Massachusetts. Maybe it's the breeze that always seems to be blowing. At any rate, even with the temperature up in the 90's, it was nice being outside and looking at the amazing thunderheads that are starting to build. :goodvibes

I've come to the realization that if FL is truly the right place for anyone, it's YOU! :teeth:

Why thank you. :teeth: You can't believe all the people from MA who told me I'd absolutely hate it down here. Now, nearly two years into our move, I think they're still up there shivering and waiting for me to come back! :rotfl:

Well, they're not shivering today but you know what I mean.

We tried to move to Fl. more than once. We had a chance to go 2 yrs. ago, but we couldn't swing it.

Now my oldest is in High School and we are staying put for awhile.

My dh got a job here also, so I guess this is where fate put me. It is a great job so we aren't going anywere. I would love to live in Orlando, though. I know they get hurricanes, too - but I don't think it would be as bad as where we live now which is 2 miles from the Atlantic Ocean!

Going to WDW is the best and lots of cheap cruises! I have come to truly love places like Sanibel Island and Key West.

I went over to Typhoon Lagoon and enjoyed the day. I kept thinking how I wouldn't be doing this if I still lived in PA.

I can't believe I bought all those stories for years about how bad Florida is in the summer. It was the perfect day to be at the pool. I bought an water park annual pass because of gas prices or othewise I would have taken off to a coast to go swimming.

In my case it worked out perfectly to move here. I know I won't be going back to PA ever.

That's the thing, we don't stay inside all summer. We go to the pool or beach. I just spent a beautiful day at the beach today!! Water was warm, breeze slight.

I don't understand why people think we spend all day boarded up in the A/C. people aren't dying like flies here like they are in California due to the heat.

I don't own a coat. I mow my lawn in January rather than breaking ice. it works for me. :)
