Moving to Central FL

My wife and I are considering moving our family of 4 (2 daughters 6 yrs and 2 mos) to central FL from NC. We currently live in the Charlotte area so we are used to big cities, heat and humidity. We both can work from home with our current jobs so no need to worry about finding jobs or commuting.

We would like to be close to Disney so for those more familiar with the area where would you suggest looking and where should we stay away from?

We are currently looking at trying to move in mid-June while school is out.

There are lots of good neighborhoods close to Disney - Celebration to the southeast, Poinciana and Davenport to the southwest, Clermont, Winter Garden, and Windemere northwest, Dr. Phillips and Hunter's Creek northeast. We are in Davenport.

You may want to look back a few pages, there was just a huge thread on this, parts of Kissimee are to be avoided amoung a few others I forget all of them.

Clermont and Davenport are good affordable options, they are not far from Disney. The only downside is you are far from the actual city of Orlando, it can be a drive to other attractions. Hunter's Creek is a nice location, a little more expensive, closer to SeaWorld and International drive than the Disney area, and closer to the city of Orlando. Dr. Phillips is considered one of the nicest areas, upscale businesses and close to Disney (using I-4 or back roads). Oh! and Williamsburg is also a good location. And Obviously Celebration but that can be pricey.

Avoid a lot of Poinciana, Kissimmee, Kirkman area, Pine Hills, the Colonial area, Buena Venture Lakes (BVL)...that is what I can think of right now.
