Moving to a warmer climate

Just wait til you have lived here a few more years. You will eventually get tired of it. I never thought I would, and I have lived all over the United States.
The weather is nice, but I hate $900 electric bills. I miss my gas stovetop.
My children have only seen snow once and my oldest is 23!
Going to Disney, I almost have to beg them to go with me and DH. Even my 10 yr old says he would rather stay home most of the time. :confused3

I agree. We lived there for 3 years and I couldn't wait to get out of there and get some actual seasons (besides hot, hot, hot, and HELL.) I couldn't stand the lack of real trees (palm trees are NOT real trees, IMO.) And the flatness, the humidity, the heat, the humidity, the heat...I moved to Georgia and all my dreams came true. We have mountains, beaches, 4 lovely seasons. It doesn't usually get too cold(this winter has been very unusual.) In the summers it's usually not over 90 for a long sustained period. The cost of living is reasonable.

We may eventually make a move to Florida after we retire. But it will only be for the winter months. I will NEVER live full-time in Florida again!

I was muling over getting a job at WDW, but am shying away from the idea because a) the weather in winter isn't meant to be that good and b) I'd get bored with Disney, something I'd rather not do!

Thoughts? Corrections?

It does get alittle boring living this close-the magic has been gone for A long time now!!

Since you're in the UK, immigration issues matter. You can easily move to another EU country and be able to get a permit to work, but you won't be able to do that easily in the US unless you have some claim to US citizenship.

The most common way in for most UK-expats is to buy a business in the US. It requires a hefty initial investment.

I have lived here all of my life, I am not sick of it. We toyed with the idea of moving north, but after this cold snap FORGET IT. I have never had a $900.oo electric bill, where exactly do you live. I have never known anyone around my area with that high of an electric bill. Also regarding those storms people keep talking about, again 46 years here and not once have I been in a major hurricane. I guess it depend on exactly where you live.

Does anyone know what New Zealand is like? Year round climate, geography, that kinda thing?
