Dear Disney Collective:

Moving resorts via skyliner. Acceptable or no? Basically, can I take bags (basically an Osprey backpack) and a carry on luggage on the skyliner from CBR to Epcot IG stop.

Disney kisses,

Disney kisses,
I would anticipate the backpack would definitely be fine (it could be a park bag). I'm not sure about the carry on luggage. I would assume "no". Why not simply let Disney move your luggage?

I don't.see why you couldn't. People take the same on buses. Also not all strollers have to be folded for the skyliner so it's not like there isn't room.

Might be true but I saw it on trip last month. So at lesst 2 people have done it and it was thr morning rush to MK for emh.

More context. Next hotel is Dolphin so unsure whether Disney transfer is allowed, which, evidently, it is, if my cursory research is correct. And if being frowned upon, albeit not impermissible, is the measure, then the morbidly obese shouldn’t be riding electronic vehicles reserved for disabled, yet they do, and Disney allows it.

ECVs are not “reserved for disabled” – and I’ve found that judging whether people are somehow worthy of using things that make their lives easier, especially when it has NO impact on my own, is not a helpful or happy way to live.

Breaking the rules and then trying to justify it by fat shaming is not going to endear you to the folks here.

A piece of luggage that is not allowed to be carried onto Disney transportation is not comparable to someone deciding who “deserves” ECVs. However, I will point out that everyone using an ECV is paying for it whether you see that they need it or not.

You’re trying to save $9 by not imply Ubering with your luggage. Not even close to the same thing.

Anyone can rent a wheelchair or scooter from Disney unless disqualified for some reason such as not following rules or not being within age limits. Remember, if you rent the wheelchair, you can still walk some of the time or even most of the time. If you do not rent the wheelchair then you must walk all of the time.

Some models of wheelchairs and scooters may have a weight limit. The vehicle's carrying a second person is not allowed even if your combined weight is under the limit, and this is a rules violation.

It's against Disney rules to take luggage on busses (DME excepted). I would assume the same is the case for the Skyliner. Now, have people gotten away with it? I'm sure. But what happens if you bring your suitcase (whether to the bus or skyliner) and then you're told they're not allowed? So now you have to waste time taking them back to bell services or finding other transportation. So why not just do that to begin with? Simple.

Disney will transfer your bags to the Dolphin. But no, it is not permissible to use a Disney bus/boat/monorail/skyliner to move you and your luggage.

What an awful thing to say, especially completely out of nowhere. Who does that???

How do you know people don’t have a disability you can’t see?

The OP basically has the handle deplorable. I am guessing this is the person that smiles to your face and talks bad about you behind your back.

As others have said, some people that are morbidly obese might have medical conditions that caused the need for a scooter outside of their weight issue. I know for a fact that medications can cause extreme weight gains. My sister gained 30 pounds in one month due to medication. She ate like a bird and exercised and still couldn’t get rid of the weight after she was off the medication.
