Hello- I booked a savannah view studio at Kidani for a friend and her daughter then they will move to a studio at OKW. I know their bags will be moved for them but do they have a shuttle service? If not what is the best way to get from AKV to OKW without having plans to go to a park. Also is there a morning safari ride at AKV that people staying there can do? If so, any information about that would be appreciated, actually anything regarding Kidani and AKV is appreciated. I want to be able to pass along any helpful info to her since I don't have any first hand experience there, thanks again.

They do not have a shuttle service between resorts. If they want to go directly from AKV to OKW they will need to grab a taxi. If they would like to go through Downtown Disney that is an option. Take the AKV bus to downtown Disney and then get on the OKW one. If they wanted to shop or look around downtown Disney they could do that as well. What are their plans for their "transfer" day? Do the realize that they may not get their new room at OKW until 4PM?
There is a Sunrise safari that is available on certain days (and for a limited time if you are not staying on the concierge level) that runs about $70. We did it and it was well worth it. I can't remember, but I assume, that you need park admission for that since you come in through the back entrance to the AK park, and after breakfast you can wander out on your own.

Thank you thepops. My friend was thinking of leaving AKV and checking in to OKW in order for her new reservation to kick in for the magic bands, is that not necessary?

Yes, she will need to check-in at OKW.
Here are the steps for the move day:
Call Bell Services and have them come pick-up your luggage and refrigerated items. Be sure to inform them that you have items to keep cold.
Tell them where you are transferring too.
Check-in to your new resort.
Go do whatever you want that day.
After getting your room text and you are back in it (items are not at your new resort until 2 - 4 PM), call Bell Services to have the items delivered to your room.
NOTE: You must be in the room for the pick-up and delivery.

The fastest way to go from one resort to another is by taxi. Otherwise take a bus to any park or DTD and then hop on the bus to your new resort. To minimize travel time getting from Kidani to OKW they could take a bus to either Animal Kingdom (closest park to AKV) or to Epcot (very close to OKW). I find transferring through DTD to be slow because I always have the longest waits for buses to/from DTD. Then again, if the first bus that arrived at the stop at Kidani was a DTD bus I might chance it.

You do need park admission. When we did the tour they scanned our ticket before we boarded the bus at Jambo House. It can be a logistical challenge to do this on check-out day. You either need to be completely out of your room by 6:30 am before you join the tour group or you need to rush back to AKV after the breakfast (which could end as late as 10am) so that you are out of the room by 11am.
