We are staying at ALL Stars for a few days then moving to BLT ( never thought we would stay here but were on the waiting list for AK and it was stressing me not knowing what we were doing and this came up soo....) My question is will Disney move all our stuff for us from ASMu to BLT ? How does that work as I dont think we are renting a car this time due to the cost- What if we have stuff in the refridgerator? Any advice for me?

Switching resorts is painless. Set it up with bell services the day before. They will come and get your luggage and groceries and will deliver them later in the day to your new resort. After you've checked into the new resort you will need to call their bell services to bring everything to your room. They usually don't have your luggage until 3:00 ish. Remember you should (not required) tip both bell services for handling your luggage.

As for yourself, if you have no car (we never have) you could take a bus to DTD (or any park for that matter) and then catch a bus to BLT OR you could catch a bus to MK and then take the monorail to BLT.

Only catch...... if you will need anything before your luggage will arrive at BLT you will need to bring it with you.

Perfect as we wanted that to be a MK morning and will have bell services come before we leave for the parks and then just go to BLT and check in after lunch at MK- That is Disney Magic!!- I am so relieved!

When I stayed at Pop in December, I brought my luggage to the bell area and dealt with it there. My things arrived at AKV with no problems.

This past Nov/Dec we did a split stay; 3nights at POR amd 3 nights at VWL. We packed up most of out stuff the night before we moved to VWL. The next morning we had bell services call us a cab. Bell services arrived within 10 minutes and took us to the front of the resort and within 5 minutes a large van pulled up and took us to VWL.

I know many people had their luggage moved successfully, but I needed to have acess to my luggage and I wanted to know where it was at all times so I decided to take a cab instead. I can't remember exactly, but I think the fare was $15.

Fortunately our room was ready at 8am when we checked in and we even made it to the MK before it opened :thumbsup2

I am not a fan of split stays but decided that I wouldn't do it again unless we had our own car on property.

I just got off the phone with Member Services, and was told they can't (and won't) move groceries, or any perishables. Arriving this Sunday (Jul 5) we will be staying 4 days at WL and 3 at Kidani. So can someone who has done it recently tell me what the scoop is, in real life?
TIA!

I'm curious about this as well. We are doing our first split stay in December and I'll need to know what the policy is for groceries since we will have a small amount in the fridge. Anyone find out?

Very wierd response from member services. I'd call bell services at the resort you are staying at.

We moved from the GF to the Boardwalk last year & the groceries were colder than when we had them in our fridge. I enjoyed a beer immediately as a result. :thumbsup2 They even took special care of my DM's b-day cake.

I wonder if they are having TOO many split stays lately b/c people can't get into the resorts they want for the whole time. Maybe if it's a busier time of year they won't do it. Or maybe just more people are using outside grocery companies. Maybe they just don't want the risk of moving people's eggs. :lmao:

To the OP:

Have you stayed at a value resort before?? After being spoiled by DVC for so many years, have considered a moderate or the Swan & Dolphin who often have deals going? But that's just my humble opinion b/c we had such a terrible experience at All Star Sports. Out of control tweens/teens were ding dong ditching us & the walls seemed paper thing. Even w/ earplugs I got very little sleep. The place was packed.

Last August, we moved from Animal Kingdom to Poly.

AKL lost our transfer information and our bags were left all day at the resort.

We found that by checking in with the Bell desk at Poly, it took some time for them to find the bags but once they did, they were delivered within the hour.

That night we had tix for the Backyard BBQ -- which we wouldn't have made without the special transfer the Poly set up...back entrance to the BBQ too!

They even had our fees refunded for the show that night.

So, it works BUT if things are not there when they say they should be -- get on it to have them find your bags. No one at your new resort knows anything is missing.

Good luck! We're at Kidani in 10 days!

Great Topic! I have a very similar situation, but I will have a gap between my stays at the Disney Resorts...

In november we will be staying at AKV for a 5 nights, then taking a 3-day Disney cruise, then to BLT for a few nights to finish our trip.

We plan to repack for the cruise taking only what we absolutely need for those 3 days... will Bell Services hold the rest of our luggage (and maybe even refridgerated items) for the three days we are gone and deliver them to BLT?

Thanks!

I'm so glad to find this thread; we're doing a split stay and never done it before so thanks everyone for the information!

So here is a question: when you switch to the 2nd resort, do you then need to take your KTTW cards with you to be activated to your new room, or do they issue you new KTTW cards for your new room?

Thanks!

Thanks but we have stayed at All Star Music in a suite before because we like the space and yes there was cheerleaders but it did not really bother us- being in one room with our kids (yes we love them but...) would drive us more crazy

Just got back yesterday. Stayed the first 4 nights at WL and then 3 nights at Kidani. Bell services picked up ALL our stuff (refrigerated and otherwise) 15 minutes after we called, and explained that it's kept at the original lodging until 1:00, and then transport takes place between 1 and 3--so it's accessible until 1:00, then "in limbo" until 3 pm. Once we were in the new room, I called and the stuff was delivered to us almost immediately--still cold and fresh.

New KTTW were issued at Kidani.

BTW-stayed in a 2 BR villa at Kidani--it was huge! Loved, loved, loved every minute.
