I just booked a last minute trip...4 nights in 3 different rooms. Yeah...I know.

We've never moved from resort to resort before...only offsite to onsite, and vice versa. I've heard they'll move your things, but how is that accomplished? Do we have to leave our things with Bell Services, or do they take them from the room and move them while we're at the parks?

Our first move is from a studio to a 1-BR at the same resort, and the 2nd move is from that resort to a different resort.

As I like to say to our kids..."What have you learned from this experience?" A) Bank points on time  and B) plan trips further in advance.

LOL Mare. One way we avoid the banking problem is to always be in borrowed-ahead mode.

The several times we've changed rooms/resorts, to make sure nothing was left behind, we brought everything down to Bell Services and they moved them to the new location but ONLY to the Bell Services at your next resort.
If you're staying at the same resort and just changing rooms, they'll just hold your luggage until you check in again. They won't put your bags in your new room until you've gone through the check in process........

at least that's been OUR experience.

Have a wonderful trip!

We generally change resorts after our first week and it has always worked out well for us. We generally don't have a car so before we leave in the morning for a park we call bell services and have them come up and take our luggage. We usually keep a backpack with bathing suits, etc. We find if we head over to the new resort and "Check In" then we can head out and call the resort throughout the day and they will tell you if your room is ready. It works well and they bring your things up to your room.

We like changing at the half way point-makes it a new adventure.

Patti!!! :yay:

Solves that problem, huh?

OK, they won't put our stuff IN another room. That's good, so that way we can just say at the desk "our room is WHERE?!" ;)

But, we don't HAVE TO bring it down to Bell Services? They will come and get it in the room if we want to do it that way?

Do you have to be in the room when they come?

I beleive so-we always phone them after we get to the room so I'm not certain of that. Perhaps someone else can chime in on that question.

Oops, sorry. I don't think I was very clear. When you're leaving one resort, do you have to be in the room when Bell Services comes to pick up your things the day you're moving to another room/resort, or can we leave everything packed and head out to the parks before they come to GET our bags?

Hi
We have always waited for them to pick up everything, they label and count the pieces, but you may be able to leave them in your room.

We usually call them as soon as we get up and they arrive with plenty of time before we head out for the day. Others may do things differently but we found that this works for us. :thumbsup2

I always pack up the night before and have things near the door for the next morning. I drive my DH CRAZY because I unpack everything and put the suitcases away when we check in. I hate living out of our luggage, I find it much easier to have all four of us organized.

Hi, Mary Ann, I don't know the exact answer to your question, because I have always called Bell Services and they have gotten my bags before I left the room, but I just wanted to say -

THANK GOD I'm not the only one!!!!!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We had a last-minute change in plans and I'm taking two 14 year olds to WDW for their Spring Break, beginning the day after Easter. We are staying in FOUR different resorts for our 6 night stay as of now. We'll move from a 1BR at AKV to a 1BR at VWL to a 1BR at BWV(paying cash here, ouch!!) to a 1BR at SSR - where we will finally get to "unpack" for 3 nights in a row!! Yahoo!!!!

Here's hoping the waitlist works and we can stay at the VWL 2 nights in a row!!!!

Have a fun trip - it will be fun to trade experiences after we get home!!!!

We were told we had to be in the room when we moved from OKW to BCV and was told to call the night before to make the arrangements and what time we wanted them to come up. I can't imagine where you would leave their tip for them to see. We had 10 bags to move last August so with a $20 tip over and $20 tip when they delivered them at BCV, it was worth $40 to move them.

I specifically asked SSR bell services if we had to be there when they picked up the bags. They told us we did.

Unfortunately, I hadn't called early to make the appointment for them to come get the bags. Everyone was busy, and we would up wait quite some time before they could come get them.

I had waited until we had everything packed to call, thinking they'd come right up. I should have called several hours earlier, and told them what time we'd like them to come.

Three nights in a row? I'm jealous! :lmao:

I'm not thrilled about the moving, but I just chalk it up to experience. I already have a note on my online calendar for when our banking deadline is for next year. We have so many other reasons to go on this trip tho...we had SW flight credits to use up, so our flights only cost an additional $13, we still have valid APs (already got two trips out of it) so no expense of park passes, as well as a DDE card still valid for this trip. DH is much grouchier than I about having to move so many times. (We stayed in 8 different rooms on our honeymoon (24 years ago, non-Disney), which was just over a week long!)

I'm never sure when we should call bell services. If I'm not completely finished getting ready, they're sure to come right away. Wait till I'm ready, and we'll sit around. Maybe we should just throw the luggage in the car after we check out and keep it there until we check in again. We've got a studio at SSR for one night, then two nights in a 1-bedroom at SSR, then a studio for one night at BWV. I'll just have to use my "Isn't this an adventure?!" line on DH; it used to sort of work on the kids when they were little. ;)

Instead of waiting for bell services, you can bring them down yourself. This is normally what we do when we switch rooms. Since it is a shorter trip - hopefully that means that you will have fewer bags. So - get up, pack your bags, head down to bell services - hand over your bags and head to the park. It will be a fun adventure! :)

I am looking forward to those three nights, believe me!!! I still am holding out some hope that a waitlist will clear for our 2nd and 3rd nights, but I'm OK with moving. I'll only have 2 14 year old girls with me, and I am making them pack light and lean. I think we will pack and take our bags ourselves unless we just have a huge amount of stuff, and we will put it all in our car instead of dealing with Bell Services. It's going to be a busy week and I am already having to take time each morning to check out and then check back in somewhere new.

Like you, this is almost a "free" trip for us. We have DVC points (for all except one night at this point), APs, and no flight or rental car costs since I'm driving this time. And my DDE card will be helpful, too!! We're just going to go with the flow and count on the fact the DD14 will be thrilled that her friend can come with us and see Disney for the first time!!!!

I called back and got on waitlists, which probably won't come thorugh, but I tried.

We are going without kids :yay: so it should be easier for just the two of us to stay organized, get up early, move stuff around.

This will be our 4th trip without the kiddies, same time of year. Two years ago, it was HORRIBLE...I was sick and miserable (coughed all night, every night). Last year, it was THE BEST Disney trip ever. Have my fingers crossed that this is more like last year!

Last month I took a more expensive route. When we moved from Pop to VWL, we took a cab for $15 over to VWL and brought our bags with us. We then checked them into Bell Services and checked in. Since it was early morning and our villa was not ready, we just hit the parks. When we came back and our room still was not ready, we were able to pick up our day pack with swimsuits so that we could swim till the room was ready. Once it was, I called Bell services and they brought us our luggage. I thought the $15 was worth the time saved taking bus to a park and then another bus to VWL.

We'll have a rental car, and always take them to the parks. But we like to dash out the door ASAP in the morning, and was hoping to just leave the luggage, all packed, in the room, and head out. I'll double check at the resorts when we check in. (But we also may have the issue of refrigerated items. :confused3 )

We picked up a cheap cooler at Publix and iced everything down for the day. We kept the food items in the car. I have read that bell service will not move "openned" food items. When we moved from OKW to BCV it was this past August. It helps if you check with bell service the day before you need to move to find out what that resort's guidelines are and how they want to handle the move. We were told that we had to be in the room. When the CM came, they counted the bags, put special green tags on each bag and marked each bag with BCV. He then gave me a receipt. We called the night before and asked for a 9:30AM pickup and the the CM was there on the dot!

Agree takes less time.

Update!!! I just checked online and my waitlist has cleared for one of my nights, so now I am staying at SSR FOUR nights in a row!!! OK, the first night is currently a 2BR and I really only need a 1BR, so I am on the waitlist again, but at least I will be at the same resort for 4 nights in a row!! And, more importantly, now I don't have to pay CASH for a 1BR at the Boardwalk, which was the only room - other than a Grand Villa - available on the entire property the day I called. We are still having to move to three different resorts, and possibly move rooms at another, but at least now it is all on points. Yippee!!!!!
