Looking for a good children's movie to for Preschool to 3rd grade(good family movie). Something that has just recently came out on DVD or will be. Ideas?

Cartoon?? Girls or Boys? We love Brave but it may not be perfect for your family. Do NOT watch ParaNorman! I have heard Frankinweenie is good but haven't seen it myself.

The newest Tinkerbell movie is really good (they all are!). I think it is called Secret of the Wings.

The newest Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie just came out...not sure if it is appropriate for preschoolers, though.

I can't think of any new movies that are appropriate other than those. I don't see any new ones coming out soon, either.

Hotel Transylvania is coming out at the end of this month. I haven't seen it yet so I don't know if it is okay for preschoolers or not. Same with Frankenweenie. I agree with definitely not letting them watch ParaNorman, though!

Frankenweenie is not appropriate for preschoolers. I would recommend age 7 or older. It has some pretty scary scenes and themes.

My kids loved "Wreck-It Ralph." My 1st grader loved "Timothy Green", but my preschooler got bored.

The Lorax
Tinkerbell Secret of the Wings
Brave
Ice age (can't remember the name of the newst one)

Hotel Transylvania was very cute. (Rated PG)

Comes out on DVD on the 29th, but you can buy through Google Play and Vudu right now.

Had a variety of ages watching it, Kindergarten, Grade Four and Grade Six (and parents) and everyone laughed.

Pixar stuff is good.
My DS (5) loves Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Not a movie, but you can't go wrong with Shaun the Sheep! :)

I don't know how soon you need the movie, but Wreck It Ralph was very cute - had something for kids and parents (Q-bert anyone? :) ) and comes out on DVD in early February. I also agree with Hotel Transylvania - cute movie and my two youngest really enjoyed it. Good music too!

Brave is awesome, and I love Merida, but it's a fairly intense movie in some parts, especially for preschoolers.

The new Tink movie is also great, but more geared toward girls, IMHO.

You could also go with a classic movie - like Mary Poppins!

My DS 4 loved the Tinkerbell movies. The Lost Treasure one isn't super "girly" if you're worried about that. He also loves Wall-E, both Cars movies and Meet the Robinsons. Maybe one of those will work for you?

I second Hotel Transylvania. Good for all ages IMO. We saw Paranorman in the theater. I didn't think it was too scary but then again my son has never been too easily creeped out at cartoons.

If you ever have time to watch a movie with just your 3rd grader I highly recommend "The War Horse". There are battle scenes but they are not graphic except for the images of fallen horses on the battlefield. Since we watched at home these images were not quite as shocking as if we would have seen them on a huge movie screen. My DS7 loved this movie so much he watched it again the next day (and it is 2.5 hours long). Great film for a child who is a little older and not extremely sensitive.

Arthur Christmas
Dolphin Tale
The Muppets
Adventures of TinTin
