I forgot to mention this earlier, but when we were at BWV in December, they had a huge screen set up by the pool and they showed the Little Mermaid. From what we heard from the CMs, they were doing some testing. It took them a while to get it right. What was funny was that all the kids in the pool went along there merry ways swimming, but the adults were glued to the screen, LOL! It was cool to be able to watch the movie from our balcony, and there were quite a few others around doing the same thing. I'd never seen this before at BWV. Anyone know anything about this? I have some pictures that I could post, as soon as I figure out how. :badpc:

Hmmm. Note to self: If this becomes a common occurence, may have to rethink pool view. Might be fun to watch great movies off the balcony on a warm evening!

That would be fantastic if they showed pool movies. I missed out at RPR as there was lightening storms and the movie waas cancelled.

hope they keep the movies coming that would be a great treat for the adults as well as the kids.

JMW

Maybe they just do it for special occasions? Friends were there for Halloween and they showed "Haunted Mansion." My friend said her kids LOVED it. Sounds fun! Our local public pool does this a few times every summer. Sometimes they show "Jaws!"

This is a big attraction at the Hard Rock Hotel Pool in Universal. There, they have tubes and you can float in them as you watch. IT is quite fun. They are called "DIVE-IN" movies, I believe.

We were there in December and they were showing Alladin, although the only party my DH was glued to was when Jessica Simpson was singing at the end :earseek:  :smooth: Had it not been such a cold night that night we probably would've taken a dip. You could tell they were still working out the "kinks" cause you could see the shadows of people walking around behind the screen. I agree though, it would be a nice little perk. The pool is too quiet at the Boardwalk at night.

I hope they will make it a regularly scheduled activity. They do this on the beach @ Waikiki and it is very popular!

This a great concept and I am sure lot's of fun.

But I grew up in an beach town and always had our own swimming pool and have a great respect for the water.

I hate to be a kill joy here, but shouldn't you be watching your kids instead of the movie?

Sorry...

That's what lifeguards are for. Relax and enjoy your vacation... watch the movies, read a book, even close your eyes and catch a nap. The kids will be just fine in the pool.

I'm pretty sure If we all e-mailed MS and the resorts directly with our likes and dis-likes they would be more likely to take our suggestions...

Thank you lulu71! We just booked BWV for our first stay as part of the DVC. I really hope they keep this going!!

I know a little about this, as I have read about it on the "old" DVC members site under recreational activities. It used to be called the "Friday Night Swim IN" as opposed to a "drive in" I guess. I was held the last Friday of every month by the quiet pool and the CMs at the Community Hall used to run it. It was free of charge, howver the CMs pulled out the popcorn maker and offerred popcorn at a modest charge....I think $1.

Now, I have never seen it as I had never stayed the last Friday of any month, unitl this past Thanksgiving. I did inquire at the Community Hall, and the CM told me that they weren't going to hold it that Friday as they had trouble with the big screen TV and were waiting for it to be returned from repair.

I would assume it is not held if it is raining.

Well, I think it would really depend on the ages of the kids. Of course nobody is going to take their eyes off a five-year old in the pool. But an 8-9 year old doesn't usually have to be watched all the time unless very over protective.
