While I was cleaning up, I found the ticket stub of when my DH and DS had gone to the movie, and it costed him $8.00  . How much does it cost where you live?
After purchasing your ticket, getting your drink, popcorn, and candy-there goes $20.00.

drive in is $7 an adult $4.50 a kid

movie theatre is $9.50 an adult

We only go to the drive in.

Adult prices in the Austin area are:
$7.50 for an evening showing at a theater with stadium seating.
$5.50 for a Matinee at the same theater.
$2.50 at the bargain theaters.

We have no drive-ins (sigh)

The movie theater that is near us just went up to $9.00 for adults.

Just came from stadium style theatre ~~ $6.50 before 6 p.m.
$8.00 for evening

We have another set of theatres without stadium style seats, a little less, but I prefer the stadium effect.

The huge Regal multi-plex is $9.50 in the evening. I see that our Costco has some discount tix for $6.49 each - anyone buy those?

Regular theater:
5.50 matinee
5.50 students/seniors all day
4.50 child up to 12
7.50 adult

or
5.75
5.50
4.50
8.00

drive-in:
14.00 per carload

We have AMC Moviewatcher and Regal Crown Club cards. For AMC we usually go on Wednesdays, cause with the card, you get free popcorn on Weds. Since there are 4 of us, we have 2 cards. DH will pay his and 1 kid, then I do the same. That lets us earn more points that just using one card.

Then we usually buy gift certificates with the cards. Usually you get $1 or $2 extra in the GCs that we then turn around and buy the tickets.

A lot of reward sites also give movie GCs, so DH redeems a lot of those.

For the cheapest, we go drive-in. $14 for 2 movies, we bring our own dinner, popcorn and soda.

$10.00

What really irks me is that tickets are going through the roof yet we now have to sit through 10 minutes of COMMERCIALS. Not previews...plain old commercials. Advertising should be bringing the cost down. Yet, it is going up plus we have to sit through the ads. Oooooh it irritates me.

that's why I always tell my kids to wait until it comes out on dvd - that way they can keep the movie and usually I can get it for only $10. at the dvd rental place. The exception - I let them go to Spiderman 2 because I think a movie like that needs the big screen for extra effect (but they did go to the matinee $5.- each)

We went to see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkeban Monday afternoon. Matinee price, $5 all ages. After 6pm it would have been $8.25 each.

Just went to see Spiderman 2
Adult $7.00
Child $5.25

I guess the nice thing about living in Hicksville USA is prices of admission to the theater. LOL

on thursdays 10.00 for a car full with a power 103 sticker (local radio station in the Abilene Texas area)
