Movie theatre - No salt shakers - Grrr!

We went to see Shrek this afternoon and I was really annoyed by the fact that the theatre had no salt shakers. The last time we were there they had one shaker for all five registers to share. It was a mess! I asked why they don't have any and was told they keep getting stolen. They improvised by using plastic cups with no lid. Imagine how difficult it is to dispense salt (especially the thick yellow kind) out of a cup that doesn't even have a lid. Plus, it's unsanitary. I wonder how many people stick their fingers in to make it easier. IMO, it's poor management. If they know the shakers are being stolen why don't they have any extras - why not find a way to hook them to a string so people don't walk away with them? I hate popcorn w/o salt.

You mean they don't put the yellow salt/butter stuff on the popcorn when they pop it? That's bizarre. DH laughs at me, but I always have a stash or regular salt packets in both cars, my purse, the diaper bag, etc. just in case.

We always bring our own. I have a baggie of McDonald's salt packets tucked in my purse at all times - just in case we go out to see a movie!

I work at a movie theatre, and our shakers get stolen ALL the time.
we had them chained down but that made even more of a disgusting mess.
(all the shakers were always hanging off the stand where we had them and it looked very untidy)
Now, with them not chained down it's much easier to clean and it looks much tidier.

We have people steal them all the time.
And we DO have back-ups ready to go, but they just keep getting stolen, so we have to resort to using cups.
We will give people their own cups to put their toppings in.

It does suck that the shakers get stolen all the time, so it's either we put them in cups, or take them away all together.

I've never used or noticed salt shakers in a movie theater before.

We saw Shrek today, too. Our popcorn was salty enough without any added salt. Maybe it's a regional thing?

Thank God..I have been going over the whole movie theater in my head, and almost went back to see Shrek just to find out.. Must be regional...

I thought I was the only person that did this!!!! I have a stash of sweet-n-low, salt, pepper and ketchup (for my 4 year old who eats it on EVERYTHING) in my purse....lol.

Jeez, why don't they just provide those little packets of salt for those who want them? I don't remember ever seeing a movie theatre with actual salt shakers.

Our theatre has packets of regular salt and then big shakers/containers of different flavored salts. I've never personally used any of them because the popcorn is salty enough for me, as is.
