Question -- we are going to SSR over the 4th of July (first trip as DVC owners!). We called to book California Grill for the 4th because we wanted to see the fireworks without having to deal with the crowds. The Disney Dining person told me they were having a special celebration from 6-10 that night with a sushi bar, wine station, and 'picnic table' with traditional cookout food such as ribs, chicken, burgers, etc. The cost was $210 per person for myself and DH, $59 for DD. There are also supposed to be characters and games. We booked it but are having second thoughts. Seems like an awful lot of money for what you get. Has anyone done this in years' past? Is it worth it?

I thought i knew everything there was to no Know about Disney after 2 years on these boards....But i have never heard of this!...Sounds like fun though..:thumbsup2

That's what I thought too! I mean, I'm sure the view of the fireworks is great, but we could go to Victoria and Albert's for that! I couldn't find much on line about it, except for a menu from 2002 on allears.net, but no reviews... princess:

Yes it's a nice view but - I'm in the minority on this board as I am not a big fan of California Grill. The last time we went, we had to wait an hour for our ADR, the atmosphere was not bustling (that would be okay), it was pure chaos. The stampede for the fireworks was something I could also have done without, and frankly the execution of the menu was not stellar. All in my party agreed that we would not be going back.

IMO the CG has become just another attraction and is no longer a fine dining establishment. I would not pay that amount of $$ for that experience. I'm sure there are others here who will disagree however, your mileage may vary.

I think you're right. I just can't justify the expense. We're going to cancel it and try to get into Crystal Palace instead. Thanks for the feedback!

I am sure glad I never signed up for this just to find out it's traditional cookout food. I like the thought of the sushi bar and wine station though.

We had planned to do this as well until I called and found out how they had the "special menu" and the price!!! :scared1: We decided to book it for the July 3rd since MK has the same fireworks as on July 4th. Now we might go to Epcot on the 4th since I have heard while jam packed, it seems to handle crowds a little better and see the fireworks there!:goodvibes
