Move over Tigger! Pluto attacks!

I had the exact same thought. I wonder what kind of spin is going to be put on this one. Obviously the kid did something to really irritate Pluto. The abuse these characters have to endure is absurd.

The handler is supposed to be there to (try to) prevent these kinds of things, or at least help out if they do happen. But poor Pluto is left to fend for himself. Hmmm...I wonder if the kid assaulted the handler.....

I totally feel for the characters at WDW. I don't think they get the respect they deserve. I cannot imagine how miserable it must be to have to stand around in those hot, heavy suits! :headache:

At the risk of getting flamed, I have to say that I would be pretty unhappy with Pluto for chasing my child around like that no matter what my kid did! However, I am also the kind of parent who WILL deal with my child when they behave inappropriately. If my child did somethng to provoke Pkuto, I would find someway to punish him and make him apologize to the character......that would be hard to do if my child was being chased...kwim?

I have done the best I know how to teach my kids right and wrong...well, my kids are still young so I am still teaching them (its a work in progress). Occasionally, they will do something wrong, mean, or embarrassing...they are kids, and when they misbehave I discipline them. No matter how good a parent I am or try to be, my kids sometimes do things I wish they wouldn't do. Thank goodness they have never abused a character...yet.;) Hopefully, it will never happen since I have explained how and why we are nice to the characters. Has anyone else had that "Now we don't pull on Pluto's or Tigger's tail" talk with their child? Or am I the only one?;)

I wonder what really went on in the video. It doesn't look like a friendly chase at all. Like another poster said, I wonder what Pluto planned to do if he caught the kid?:confused3

Sheesh, I felt bad about walking away from Tigger one time without giving him a hug! :lmao: His handler was like "aren't you forgetting something?" and I looked back and Tigger had his arms out, looking sad. It was such a long day. :rotfl2:
I will never forget, or let my children forget that those are people in those costumes that work at making our vacations magical, like everyone else at WDW, and should be treated with the greatest appreciation.

I am really curious as to what that kid did. I hope it comes out somehow.

It seems pluto was running too swiftly to be considered a playful chase. I think he was attempting to catch the kid for whatever reason. Pluto was not directly pushed over, he fell with the coincidence of the push and stepping backward off the curb.

It also seems "convenient" that the beginning of the chase is not on tape. Let me rephrase that, is not yet made public.

Mikeeee

Gotta agree w/you on this! It does seem "convenient" that the beginning of the chase isn't on tape. Plus, from the look of the push, it didn't look like she put much force into the push. It appeared to me as if Pluto felt the push and either missed the curb or fell with drama. I'd like to know what precipitated the chase. Plus, we don't know if the kid started running to make Pluto take chase or what. Maybe the kid kicked him and started running so Pluto gave chase!

This is tough to call since we don't know what happened beforehand to trigger the response by Pluto.

However, I will say that the child looked old enough to know better than to kick or provoke a costumed character to begin with!!!!!! The way he was running, you know he had to have done something wrong ... otherwise, he wouldn't have been running like that!!!!! Kids who are afraid of getting into trouble take that fast of a run! If you ask me, it looked like he was trying to run away from trouble ... and you all know the saying on Splash Mountain ... "Can't run away from trouble ... ain't no place that far!"

Didn't read through the whole thread but everytime I have been in WDW and have been at a character greet, there is always a cast member there. If the kid did something to Pluto shouldn't the CM step in. Did seem a little odd to see him chasing after the kid. Would have love to have seen the moments before the chase!

I can't take credit for this comment, since I read it on another Dis thread about this (I think on the TPA&S forum)...

The woman who confronts Pluto doesn't seem to be the child's mother. The child's mother looks to be the woman near the end of the video holding the hand of another child wearing green shorts. The kid that was chased can be seen heading for the woman with the other child , and the woman who confronted Pluto is behind them. The mother doesn't look concerned at all. You can't tell if the two women know each other or not.
