Move over Tigger! Pluto attacks!

Some parents just don't care what their kids do, whenever we were at WDW in April, a boy around 10yrs old kicked Pooh in between the legs ( hard ) in Cystal Palace and the kids parents just rolled laughing, I thought are they nuts, how rude. Needless to say Pooh left and it spoiled it for the rest of us.

What did the kid do?

At first it looked like Pluto was just playing with the kid. But the nerve of that woman to push him, all the while not putting her camera down! That poor CM's take so much abuse.

How horrible! :sad2:

Luckily Pooh's...um...inner being is usually very in tough with their feminine side so there is a good possibility that no harm was done...but still.

As if being stuck in a big fur suit in 100 degree heat isn't bad enough... you have to get kicked in the privates.

I'd love to see the video of the woman who knocked Pluto over. I'm sure it'll be huge in the next few days and she'll sell that for big bucks or use it to sue Disney.

It seems pluto was running too swiftly to be considered a playful chase. I think he was attempting to catch the kid for whatever reason. Pluto was not directly pushed over, he fell with the coincidence of the push and stepping backward off the curb.

It also seems "convenient" that the beginning of the chase is not on tape. Let me rephrase that, is not yet made public.

I've never seen anyone in character go running after a kid like Pluto did there, it doesn't look like a friendly chase at all

I agree, and I also don't think it was very safe. That child could have tripped and fallen and Pluto could have fallen on him, etc. I don't blame that woman from stopping him. I think I would have, too. It just wasn't safe.

I wonder what happened?!

Regardless of how safe it was or not that Pluto was chasing that kid, the kid did something to Pluto. I can tell by the way Pluto's body language (I picked that up really quickly when I worked with the characters at WDW) that the kid hit or kicked him. I don't know why parents think it's ok that their kids do that to the characters. The characters are sometimes extremely mistreated by kids and it's not fair.

As far as the mom stopping him, it's not that's it was unsafe, it was probably because it was her kid that hurt him and she didn't want Pluto to chase him. Pushing Pluto even a bit was way out of line (that's what it looked like to me on the video). She could have been kicked out of the park for doing that. The way Pluto looked at the other guests and then at the mom, he was making sure somebody else saw her do that.

Sigh...:sad2:

It's a little premature to make any judgements, but it's easy to surmise the kid did something way out of line. First, the parents are to blame for raising the kid to be a brat and then not stepping up to take charge of the kid once the deed was done.

The kid and his entire family should have at least been ejected from the park and prohibited from re-entering any Disney park for at least a year... no refunds. If they're staying at a Disney resort, be given an hour to pack their bags and be gone, again with no refunds. Maybe that would encourage them to get some control over their brat.

If the "chase" was initiated by "that woman's" little darling, I blame "that woman" for a number of things....first off for being a twit.

Children should be taught to respect elders (& disney characters). Failure to learn this in the Hound household will result in a swift & not to subtle "reminder".

EDIT - Looks like GeorgeG & Epcot fan posted similar thoughts before me. Sorry for being redundant....but nice to see these posts. :)

I doubt Pluto gets paid enough to have to put up with the crap that probably happens on a daily basis. Sad that some of the little monsters aren't controlled at all by their parents.

I have no idea what was happening in the video.

I find it surprising that Pluto would be chasing the kid that fast.

I have to ask what Pluto was going to do if he caught the kid.

Also, where was the handler?

Bizarre!!

Where was Pluto's handler?????????

I had the exact same thought. I wonder what kind of spin is going to be put on this one. Obviously the kid did something to really irritate Pluto. The abuse these characters have to endure is absurd.

I wouldn't blame the handler (actually the attendant) because he or she may have been answering another guests questions or even taking the picture for the family. I used to be an attendant (greeter was what we were called at the time) and it's not easy trying to watch the line, communicate with the guests as to if Pluto was going to get a doggy treat and when he'd be back, taking pictures for the guests, answering guest questions and watching that nobody beats up the character at the same time. The greeter can only do so much, if Pluto was going to chase the kid, he was going to chase the kid whether the greeter said not to.

I believe this video was from Disneyland and when I was out there, the greeters weren't are plentiful (at least it seemed to me) as they are at WDW. Are there any DL CM's on the board who can confirm or deny that? I know when I was out in DL in 2005, a group of teenagers had pretty much surrounded Mickey, grabbing him and just bullying him. The greeter was with a couple of other characters. I ran over and told the greeter what was happening right away. My gut instinct was to go to Mickey and say, "Can I have a picture with you?" and try to get him out of the situation, but since I wasn't a greeter, I had no right to do that so I just informed the greeter and continued with my day.
