there are ways of advising people and you definitely missed the boat

Can we please get back on topic!

Disney Resorts!

I think the rates can be applied. I would switch to Dreams Unlimited because they know immediately when codes come out and can try to get a code applied. They have saved me over $400 for my June 1 trip. I hope that when AP rates come out, maybe I can save even more :)

Welcome to the DIS!:D
I don't know the answer to your question, but I have a bit of advice...
Post your question as a new thread. Asking additional questions on a thread started by another poster may cause your topic to be overlooked.

Hello everyone!

This is my first time posting on the boards. I already have reservations made for Disney’s All Star Movie resort for the first week of August. I made the reservations through Walt Disney Travel Company. I was wondering if, when codes come out for my time of stay, if I could apply them to my reservations even though I booked through WDTC or do I have to be book through the CRO to use the codes?

You do not have to be booked through CRO. I don't know the details of your reservation, but in general you can always apply any code or discount that is available for your particular resort. As long as you meet the requirements of the code, it shouldn't be a problem. Most people will tell you the simplest way is to have your original reservation through CRO. I agree, but the most that might have to happen is to make a new reservation using whatever discount you find, then cancel the old one. The CM will take care of it and transfer any deposits to the new reservation. I just did this yesterday with the reservation I had using a DisneyClub discount. It couldn't have been easier. Good Luck!

I thought at one time, that the Disboard rules were not to post codes. Has this changed, or did I make that up in my dreams LOL?

I found this on the guidelines for this list..I'm not sure if this is just postcard codes, or any codes meant to target a certain audience..although it mentions postcards. I know in the past a moderator has taken a code out of a note I wrote..and it was a magazine code.

9. DISCOUNT CODES: From time to time, Disney will send postcards via US Mail to select groups offering special deals. These codes are not intended for the general public, rather they are marketed to specific areas of the country. Under no circumstances can discount codes that are printed on these postcards be posted on our boards. Any such posts will be deleted immediately. We feel that if this is overly abused on the Internet, that Disney will eventually stop offering these discounts all together, in which case, everyone loses

I've been following Mary's website since it was just a small collection of discounts. I think I even remember one of her first posts about it!! I'm sure she is very, very pleased with us posting codes & references to her site, because it generates traffic for her. It doesn't take away her business! Since the DIS boards are so popular, having Mousesavers mentioned here can only help! :)

It's great to support Mary by making purchases through her links. We can also do the same here on the DISboards, by using their sponsers.

DMRick, that guideline is only for codes with pin#s & such, but you're right, the mods used to block general public codes & now they usually don't.

I knew about the prohibition of Postcard codes, but since magazines are available all over the country & in libraries I considered it open to all. Not only is it in libraries it is posted on the internet, which is also available throughout, even free, like the use of the magazines, at libraries.

Disney put the codes out to be used. If they block a certain amount of room just for a certain Promo codes, there cannot be any abuse.

I for one appreciate the codes being posted. I also love Mary's site.

Should this discussion be moved to a debate board???

Yes, you are correct. However, now that the DIS has launched its own Discount Code site, we now allow posting of viable codes available to all guests. The sticking point about a year ago or so was that people were posting codes listed on direct mailers meant for select guests via postcards. There were situations where guests used these restricted codes after seeing them posted here only to find themselves paying full rack rate when they checked in.

Codes that are available to all guests may be posted here. :)

Hopefully, we can just keep this on topic. :) Otherwise, we can just lock the thread and move on.
