How much do you tip mousekeeping? Does it differ with the resorts...value, moderate, deluxe? Where do you leave the tips each morning? We are staying at the Yacht Club in June. I found a site where someone had done cute thank you cards to personalize with your family name to leave with tips. I just want to be sure we are tipping correctly as we do not stay in hotels often! Thanks!

Welcome to the DIS, 2tinkersmom!

I usually tip $1 per person per day with a $2 minimum. I leave a tip each morning, and I usually leave it on the vanity--if there is a card in the room with the mousekeepers name, I usually leave it underneathe that.

Hi
We tip a $1 per person in room. We stayed at the YC last Nov. You will love it!!!! We had a great experience there.
We would leave our tip in an envelope that we decorated for housekeeping (on computer) and many times would leave little notes for them. I take extra note paper to do this and to put in the envelopes with the tip.
We would let them know how nice the room looked , or thank you for the towell animals ... etc.....

Tipping does not differ with the level of resort- it's what you feel you want to give.

Just got back from POR. We left $2/day on the table. I'd leave the money, some mints (hard candy) and a note either thanking them for the job they do, on a particular rainy day, a note that said "at least it isn't snowing!".

We leave a dollar a day or more if something extra has to be done for us. The kids make envelopes with stickers. That is usually what we leave no matter what type of resort/hotel we stay at.

I leave $4-$5 in an envelope. I make the envelopes before the trip- I write "thank you mousekeepers!" on it and decorate it w/leftover disney scrapbooking stickers I have.

me too! I use my scrapbooking stuff! :flower:

I print some small envelopes before we leave home with a disney picture and "Thank You Mousekeeping" on the outside. We usually leave $3 per day in the regular resorts (non-DVC) and maybe $10 on our last day depending on the service.

I too do the envelopes, but I put the money in them before we leave home. That way it does not seem like I'm using our trip money.

:goodvibes

I made my own envelopes. Just like LoveMickey, I put the money in them before I left.

This past trip was the first time I tipped Mousekeeping. It was just my hubby and I. I always picked up, put all of the dirty towels in a pile, made sure the room wasn't cluttered, and wiped up around the vanity. I left $3 per day. I always had something nice waiting on me when I returned to the room. 2 days of our stay I returned to have our bed pulled down for us :)

What do you mean by always had extras waiting for you? WOndering if mousekeeping goes above and beyond for tipping rooms (as Im sure there are many who dont tip either, ) I think the tipping ideas mentioned are thoughtful, but also feel like paying deluxe rate ($400-$2000+/nite) (our next trip $5000 room only for 1 week) my room should be cleaned w/out having to worry about tipping/leaving notes every day while Im trying to get my kids out the door...

that's what I do too....I'm always on the look-out for a nice new $5 bill, then I put it away to go in my tip envelopes. If we count tips on the drive down and the whole time we are there, they really start to add up, so I like to have that $ already put aside!

What she said!

I also leave $2 each evening for turn-down as applicable, a little more if we've got lots of trash to be emptied or something like that.

When we're staying DVC, we usually have a 1BR, and I leave $5-10 for Trash-n-Towel, and $15-20 on full-service day. Add another $5 to each if we've got a 2BR.

Over half of our trips are CL at various deluxe resorts, and only once I've gotten a towel animal, and I tip daily. I don't think tipping has a thing to do with that, although I have noticed that we seem to get lots of extra soap/shampoo.

Thanks for all the help and ideas everybody! I told my DH I had asked about the tipping and he was so glad I did, as neither of us had a clue what to do!!
You guys are great! :cheer2:
