One of my old roommates on the WDWCP was in Mousekeeping and he said they were able to accept tips.
We always leave them. If they couldn't accept, then they wouldn't take them.
Disney CMs that aren't supposed to accept tips are required to politely decline the tip at first, and only take it if the guest is insistant. Then, if the guest is insistant, they have to turn the tip into management....
This money doens't just disappear into Disney's wallet...it is placed in a fund and somehting is done with it...some areas will have a pizza party for the cast, others will donate the money to charity in the name of the cast members.
So if Mousekeeping weren't a tipped position, they'd leave the money behind and politely decline the offer. Which I know for a fact is not the case.

Yup, I've had to do that one before. The money was actually shoved into my front shirt pocket by the guest; I didn't have much say in the matter. It was only 50 cents but I was honest and turned it over to management like I was supposed to. Now if the manager put it into some kind of fund or kept it for himself.... I don't recall ever being told about what they did with tip money turned over.
Also, I have heard of people leaving notes directing Mousekeeping to the fridge on check-out day. With a note from a guest, they are able to keep your unopened soda cans, water bottles, etc. I plan on doing this on my next trip - just 44 days away!! - in addition to the "standard" Mousekeeping tips.

We did that everything that was left I told her to have (with a note) well when we were leaving the hotel we walked past our room and she was carrying some of the stuff out and she thanked us like 10 times over and over, she had a bunch of kids and that would come in handy praise the lord! I was happy!
This makes me think...we usually tip $5 per day, but to the am maid. I never thought about tipping again at night, but I'm sure it must be a different person, so it does make sense. How do you divide the tips...do you split the daily tip or give each a larger tip?
Based on what I have read here, we will be leaving $6 per day for Mousekeeping. There will be 4 of us in the room, so that works out to $1.50 a person. For the turndown service, we will be leaving $3, which is $1 for each bed (bunkbeds and a Queen). Both tips will be left in envelopes where they are easily found, and the envelopes are printed with stuff from the DISigns board here. Does this sound right? This is our first trip, and honestly, our first stay in a "hotel" for longer than 1 night. If I need to boost anything up, please let me know, since I plan on packing my tips to go, that way I don't have to worry about having ones. We have actually been saving all of our ones in a jar, and at last count had like $150 in ones!

There is going to be 6 of us in 2 rooms so I will leave $5 in each room for the morning service and $3 per room for the turndown service. Most days we return to the room in the afternoon so then I just put the am envelope out in the morning and then the turndown in the afternoon. If I know we won't be returning to the room in the afternoon I put them both out in seperate envelopes.....has always worked fine.
So for our 7 night stay that will be a total of $112, I get small bills and make them all up before we leave home...otherwise that's a big dent to tske out of our park cash.
someone above had mentioned keeping the towel animals.. You dont keep them do you? We left ours in the room when we were there in April 2006 I didnt think we were to keep them!
Do you leave one tip in the am for regular mousekeeping and another in the evening if you have requested turn down service? What if you are not back in the room in between?
