Yes I have traveled with children. But if they made a mess we cleaned it. Leaving pee on a seat for a stranger to clean just seems rude to me. Now if they dump there cheetos on the floor and walk over them and I have zero means to a vaccume I will do my best and be thankfull for the maid. But I will never say "maid will get it no big deal". Maids need to be payed way more than a cashier imo to make up for what they put up with.
I think that their is a distinct difference in mentality going on here. I am old school and would always pick up after our kids, either in a hotel room, or restaurant, or wherever. But there are many who have the mind set that the help or staff will just clean it up. After working in food service for over 30 years I have seen that more and more, with the younger generation of parents, that they don't want to do anything and just leave a huge mess for the staff to clean up. I obviously don't agree with that sentiment because frankly, it's very rude. And it is not their job to clean up after your extremely messy child. A few things here and there that spill is okay but when half of their meals on the floor and then you step on it as you walk by then you're just being a jerk. The same thing goes with housekeeping in a hotel room. They have numerous rooms to clean in a certain amount of time that it shouldn't be a pigsty for them it should be normal daily cleaning.

This is how we feel. I travel with my own bed sheets anyway and don't want them touching the bed. I also hate how they tuck it in on all sides. What little garbage we make, we just take with us out if the room and call for fresh towels every few days. I think it's more of an "I want to be pampered" mindset for some, which is fine. Just like it's fine for people to not want anyone in their room. But I do wonder how some get their rooms so dirty that they need cleaning on a daily basis.
uhg I HATE tucked in sheets haha

Wanting the housekeeping you paid for is in no way an indication that you don't pick up after your kids or that you keep your room like a pigsty.

We only stay DVC. For cash rooms do they not empty the trash every day even without a cleaning during the "security check"? And of course you can request linens at any time. So you can basically have both of these things without the traditional return of Mousekeeping. Which Im not opposed to at all. I just think daily housekeeping in general may die off across the board at hotels and resorts due to the pandemic.
No they don’t take the trash out when they do the daily security checks. When I was at Pop in April passed multiple rooms with trash piles outside room doors just waiting for birds or other animals to get into it. Unlike DVC areas where there’s no place to get rid of it easily. The tiny room trash can get fully pretty quickly if you have multiple people and eat in your room instead of food court/restaurants

Anna from guest relations called me this morning and left a message. We were at church and had a busy day outside and I only checked my phone a few minutes ago. She said she was calling to follow up on the email I sent voicing my concerns about housekeeping. I will call her back tomorrow after work.

I am also old school as I am 68 years old-but although my home is very clean, and I do have my grands pick up their trash, towels and cloths in hotel rooms. I don't feel like I am paying all this money to live like I do at home! I would have stayed there! We don't "trash" the hotel rooms, but sheets start to get dirty during a six night stay when you are too tired to shower until the morning! We are grandparents! Our grands are normal children, not extremely messy! But as a retired teacher, guess what, normal kids are messier than adults! A Disney vacation is time-essential : rope drop, for instance. We can either make the beds and wipe up the bathrooms or get to the parks! Our rooms are not pigstys, and you are totally missing the point! We pay for a basic service and are not getting it. I have stayed in 3 other hotels since the pandemic began, in June 2020, August 2020, and April 2021, and all did basic housekeeping. We appreciate and value the housekeepers and are not of the mindset that they should do our bidding! We leave generous tips! Do you bus and wipe up your own table in a restaurant? Do you clean the toilets and sinks in the park bathrooms? I am not commenting any more on this, because I feel like those who want to skip housekeeping have every right, but stop judging those of us who enjoy a break from it during our vacation! And in a $400 a night Yacht Club rooms should be able to get it, if not daily then 4-5 days out of the seven we will be there!

They did at Poly in February. I wonder if sometimes people are just assuming that it's not happening and put their trash outside their door before giving them a chance to.

I have stayed at Pop, YC, Riviera, AKL, and CSR since reopening. Security checks did not empty my trash for any of my stays. I was in the room for a security check at Pop. She came in and opened every door and turned on every light. I had to go back through when she left and close the doors and turn off the lights. I miss daily housekeeping and truly hate seeing all the trash piled outside of rooms.

We just stayed at the cabins for 3 nights. No trash was emptied or towels given. We didn’t mind the lack of towels but would’ve liked our trash emptied. Our floors were also pretty filthy. Our son’s socks kept turning black and it was like that from the moment we got there. I’m not even sure if there were any security checks done. The trash cans outside of the cabins were overflowing which definitely isn’t good at a resort full of wildlife.

It is what many people are saying as the reason why they want housekeeping. Something as simple as just making the bed should not make or break your hotel stay. So i can't imagine that is the primary reason why people want housekeeping back. I don't buy the whole "I paid for it" excuse. You're guaranteed to clean room when you move in. If you're so messy that you need them to come in every day then that's on you.

Believe what you must.

I think you overestimate what housekeeping does on a daily basis. They're not scrubbing the toilets and the showers down everyday. At most they'll make the bed and take out the garbage and hang your towels back up. They only do that kind of a deep clean in between guests. They don't give them enough time to do that kind of a clean daily.

How are we assuming housekeeping is included in our cost? Rack rate is extremely expensive. Some folks are paying 600$ a night for the same room another might have had a deal for for 300$. Who's paying for housekeeping? Both? I don't feel the cost of the housekeeping has anything to do with room costs. It's on disney to do there budget and pay them. I haven't read anywhere that they increased the room prices to accommodate housekeeping thus not ever hearing the opposite.

Disney is EXPENSIVE!! and it's due to disney being able to charge such prices. I feel if you want a certain type of service than maybe find a hotel which offers it?. I don't see disney spending any more money to bring back daily housekeeping. They were already over worked and under payed befor covid.

Really? Because I was paying for it before COVID! And prices have only increased since March 2020. It has always been part of the hotel cost, in fact, remember pre-COVID when they would give you a gift card for declining housekeeping? Essentially paying you back!

I'm just saying how much would be per night twords housekeeping if we go based on the gift cards it's what 10$ a night? That's peanuts compared to what folks are talking about with paying 500-2k a night. That 10$ saves disney paying hourly much more. So that value is not correct. I'm sure they have the numbers for percent of folks who took the gift card deal over daily housekeeping than just took the gift card out and lowered the days them selves.

Wow. My experience at Poly was totally different. I did not have housekeeping, but every day I came back and my trash has been emptied.

I think it's an honest question. Do you trash your own home at a level that requires professional cleaning services EVERY DAY? I get the cost factor. If they removed a service they should lower the cost. I DO NOT GET people who are so messy their rooms need cleaning every single day. We typically do 7-8 night DVC stays without a single house cleaning and we just pick up after ourselves like we do at home. Of course those without washer and drier need fresh towels, and everyone needs the trash emptied, but outside of that. I guess I have a pet peeve about "Im on vacation just throw our crap everywhere the chamber maid will pick it up" attitudes.
We don't stay DVC, but we do stay 7-8+ days each trip in one hotel room. I have a ton of hair and after 2-3 days of no sweeping or vacuuming, my hair rolls in tumbleweeds across the floor. When we walk with socks across the floor, it collects all over our socks. While I don't want to have to vacuum or sweep on vacation, I could make do with no housekeeping if they had a broom or vacuum in my room where I could take care of that. Same goes for when we have snacks or bring meals back to the room and inevitably get crumbs on the floor. If you're not going to provide cleaning services in a room where some people are spending 7+ days, then at least give access to some cleaning supplies so people can manage it how they want to - just like I would have at home.
