Mouse keeping--is this just an issue at Poly?

We have always had excellent housekeeping at Disney resorts. No complaints ever, but I gotta say that I'm chuckling a bit over the posts about the deluxe.

One would think you'd get the best housekeeping at a deluxe. Having stayed at all levels, I can honestly say the best housekeeping we've experienced at Disney was in Pop Century. Our rooms were immaculate during three stays. We got towel animals, and anything we asked for (like shampoo), they gave us a ton.

We had a soda accident in the room at night. Three people showed up after I asked for fresh sheets at the front desk the next morning--a manager, housekeeping supervisor and a housekeeper--just to make sure we were satisfied guests.

I'll tell you--paying more does not equal great service. The Pop Century Resort goes over and above to give you a spotless room.

I agree! For the record, we are a family size of five so this does not allow us to stay at many of the value resorts. Having said that, we got excellent service at the AoA when we stayed there. I guess that is part of my frustration, as much as you pay to stay in these deluxe rooms, one would expect more deluxe service. We did request turn down service in several late nights, it was wonderful, but there were a couple of nights they did not come in for that either.

If you're going to come back in the afternoon, I find it helpful to call housekeeping in the morning as we leave and tell them we want the room serviced as soon as possible (I do this at many hotels not just Disney). It lets them know, so they can get it done as soon as they can.

My husband and I have medical conditions and must come back to the room around noon to take care of them. Just some background:)
3 years ago, I would just call housekeeping in the am, or even at the start of our trip, and it would be taken care of for the rest of our trip.
The last 2 years, I have called repeated twice a day with this request, stating it is for medical reasons not just wanting it done then. However, as guests we should have our "wants" taken care of without question IMO. This only happened once on our last 10 day trip until I got fed up with calling on the 6th day, and went to the front desk and complained. I am not a complainer but this was unreal! The CM got her manager, who called the manager of housekeeping, and after 15 minutes, it was taken care of. Our room was cleaned before noon each day. Guests should not have to go to a manager to have this taken care of.
So, if you call the room housekeeping number, your call goes to a "call center" and I guess your request is put at the bottom of the mountain of other requests from all the resorts. I don't know what the answer is, and will probably have to go to the manager again on our next visit. I'm always hopeful they will revert back to their "old" ways of customer service.

My husband and I owned a resort for 19 years, and I had to run and train the housekeeping staff. We were fortunate to have excellent cleaners, and they were well compensated. However, they were human and "things" were occasionally missed. I always checked the cabins after they cleaned, and if I found something not done, I just sent someone back to do it. They knew what to expect from me as well.
What I'm trying to say is that anyone who cleans for a living needs to have close supervision. It is human nature to let things slip or for some to just not want to do it. If they can get away with doing less, some people unfortunately will take advantage of it. I think this is part of Disney's problem. I did write to customer service about these problems that we experienced this past February (see previous post). Hopefully, they will take the advice of a former resort owner. Even though we were very "small" in comparison to WDW, the work ethics remain the same for good, quality customer service, which they deserve!
